Big Night, Rough Night For Shaq Barrett

The Bucs were seeking a bounce-back game for big-money edge rusher Shaq Barrett last night.
With Jason Pierre-Paul out and the pass rush anemic through three games, Bucco Bruce Arians had made it clear last week that he needed more from Shaq and others.
Joe asked Arians today if he thought Shaq bounced back last night for what the head coach is seeking in him each week?
“Oh, man. I thought Shaq had a heck of a game,” Arians replied. “You know he had the sack and a couple of pressures, but he had good drops in coverage. … It’s a shame they took away that [first-quarter] fumble because that was a great play by him on that forced fumble. I don’t know what a fumble is anymore. I would have challenged that in a heartbeat, still talking about it with the league today.”
Yes, Shaq got screwed out of a forced fumble. And think back to Week 2; Shaq was hosed by a phantom offisdes call that wiped a Shaq strip-sack off the board.
If those plays had gone through, Shaq’s stat line through four games would include three sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception through. That’s Pro Bowl stuff when extrapolated over a full season.
Keep in mind Shaq also is a cog in what may be the best run defense in modern NFL history.

It was a fumble. While Meyers bobbled the ball, he quickly gained possession and took a couple of steps before Shaq forced it out. I really don’t understand why New York overruled the refs, the camera angles were definitive: it was a fumble. I guess NY wanted to max the audience ratings as they thought the Bucs might run away with the game.

The receiver didn’t have control of the ball….then he did….then he didn’t….hard for me there was indisputable evidence to overturn the call.
As for Shaq Barrett, he’s the least of our problems….he plays very, very hard. He’ll get his sacks.

Yeah, he got robbed for sure. That receiver had caught the ball and taken two steps and was lunging forward (which I would consider indicative of a football move).

They had to keep that game close! In any other game this weekend that would have been a fumble.

Shaq came through last night and my faith in him has been restored for at least a week. We have been getting seriously screwed on calls since the first game and I’m smelling a conspiracy. 😛

Refs have been screwing us on those calls for years, and especially even more so during the last 2 or 3.
Really fkn sick of it, personally.
Even the announcers last night couldn’t avoid talking about it, albeit briefly.

I thought it was a fumble but I wish they would show a play like that in SUPER slowmo.

It is difficult to consider dismissing JPP next year.
If the injury doesn’t slow him down significantly, it would be nice if we could keep him.

The refs have NEVER been on the Bucs side except by cosmik accident. Any for real Bucs fan knows that

The guy who could’ve had a big night but didn’t again was Devin White. He made Mac Jones look like a bullfighter to him being the charging bull, olay! Twice he had him dead to rights, and olay! Than he drops a pick that would’ve ended the game. Not worried about Shaq, but White needs to tighten up his game. Looks like a chicken running around with his head cut off!
