Breakthrough Beasting For Joe Tryon-Shoyinka
October 4th, 2021Take a bow, Jason Licht!
First-round pick Joe Tryon-Shoyinka had two sacks and three quarterback hits tonight while the Bucs’ run defense flat out dominated.
Jason who?
Tyron-Shoyinka’s speed and power continue to show up, but tonight in New England he harnessed it into production. Nothing was flukish in his sacks and Joe is extraordinarily encouraged.
Everyone is searing for pass-rush help and it appears Licht found it in his Day-1 ready rookie linebacker.
And Tryon-Shoyinka is still so raw and possibly still shaking off rust after sitting out the 2020 college season.. It’s exciting, especially if he’s really a big-stage guy like he proved to be tonight.

Let’s hope JPP and even SHAQ can give him some pointers on technique and stuff…at least we doubled our sack total for the year
October 4th, 2021 at 12:10 am
This dude is fast! If he can continue to develop, this is going to be a knock out pick by licht!
October 4th, 2021 at 12:10 am
Sack was insane. RIDICULOUS speed.
Going to be a baller for a long time. Just needs some more experience, maybe a bit more strength/bulk.
Nice work by Licht and the boys on that pick.

You see Vita Veas create a sack for him taking out to linemen 🤫🤫
October 4th, 2021 at 12:12 am
Wow, he had 2 sacks? Damn I missed one. The one were the guy let him go and he just lined up Jones was crazy. That closing speed is freaky.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:12 am
With teams not running against bucs anymore Todd has to go back on the drawing board and figure how to pass-rush and pass-defend these spread looks better, it seems like it’s a copycat league.
On the offensive side of the ball they need to continue running the ball like they did tonight, 44 year old brady doesn’t have to throw 44 plus times.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:13 am
Great sack! He had a similar type of sack before, and a penalty was called. I was holding my breath that it would happen again, but the refs (surprisingly) chose to the keep their yellow flags in their pockets.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:13 am
He looked great.
Really proud of him.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:14 am
I think this “rust” issue has been resolved….
October 4th, 2021 at 12:15 am
Tryon’s sack against the Bengals:
“That was a good play on the roughing the passer,” Ellison told Tryon.
“I didn’t mean to hit him like that,” Tryon replied.
“I think we may have screwed that up,” Ellison admitted.

A game of inches? Yes. Three more inches to the right and Folk is the winning K. Difference between 3-1 and 2-2.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:17 am
Or secondary injuries are giving teams the chance to move the ball on us. This game would not have been close if the secondary were healthy.
Sherman is not a signing I would have made under normal circumstances, but we’re desperate at this point. I can see why he was still on the market though.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:18 am
If you said JTS was a bust before this game, you should be banned.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:18 am
I hope Todd scraps the idea of pulling 50 and 9 for whole series and/or dropping them into zone. Put 50 head up on the C and it’s game over.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:19 am
Happy for the kid. Learned a lot tonight.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:22 am
The penalties were horrendous. We should have scored 50.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:23 am
We all need to take our hat off to the rookie for tonight’s performance. Although he over pursues most of the time. However that can easily be corrected.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:24 am
Tryon has the crazy athletic ability like the men’s Olympic volleyball team
October 4th, 2021 at 12:25 am
The best team won
October 4th, 2021 at 12:27 am
Feel like every game he has played he has flashed early then gone quiet. I’m assuming it’s taking him some time to getting used to playing a full game
October 4th, 2021 at 12:29 am
#32 in the 2021 NFL draft and he is an awesome pickup for us
JTS 2nd sack was a thing of beauty! Glad to have him!
October 4th, 2021 at 12:32 am
Jeff you’re right. I feel we got outcoaxhed but even with all the players missing our talent somehow came through
October 4th, 2021 at 12:33 am
Feel like our offensive line struggle early, but then as they did run blocking late in game they were wearing the other guys down
October 4th, 2021 at 12:39 am
JTS might show that JPP is expendable, but JPP’s emotional leadership is hard to match.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:40 am
I didn’t know if Jones was going to get up on the Tryon sack where he came off an inside stunt and had a free run at Jones and ran through him. Sure looked like a viscious hit, but legal.
October 4th, 2021 at 12:48 am
Even though he’s only a rookie, he has been our best edge defender so far. Now part of that is due to the subpar play of Shaq and JPP not being out there… But the rookie has a bright future! He’s been far more impactful than Devin White, who is anything has had a negative impact with his lack of awareness and liability in pass coverage.

Joe
“Take a bow, Jason Licht!”
That is faaaar overstated giving Donovan Smith $40 million. He is sooooo terrible. LT round one.
October 4th, 2021 at 1:00 am
Maybe we can trade Trask for a corner.
October 4th, 2021 at 1:11 am
Great game for the rookie!
October 4th, 2021 at 7:46 am
Yep … wait until he really knows what he is doing. His natural ability is off the charts and he is not afraid to mix it up in the run game!
October 4th, 2021 at 8:31 am
Kid can get after it! He does over pursue at times just being a young player. He looks to be a good one
October 4th, 2021 at 8:57 am
I knew in preseason that Tryon-S would be a steal if he stays healthy. His rushing speed off the edge is incredible. He’s a hybrid DE-LB. Not only is he getting great coaching from Bowles and krewe, he’s got guys like JPP, VV, the GREAT LVD, etc. giving him plenty of tips in practice and during the game. We need the help with Buc Luck having a field day decimating the secondary.
October 4th, 2021 at 9:10 am
Nano has it correct. Those plays showcased his speed, but when Vita Vea single handedly demolishes the right side of the line, Bucco Bruce himself could have limped his way across that line for a sack. Bucs fans need to start understanding how special a player Vea is. He is a walking double team, and frees up single matchups on the edge. Keeping him healthy and happy needs to be number 1 priority. Even more so than fixing the secondary. Less time in the pocket to think = Less time the secondary has to cover.
October 4th, 2021 at 9:18 am
This kid should end up being a an All Pro some day! But Vea deserves a share of the one sack for completely taking out his man and the LT (and yes I know sack stats don’t work that way).
October 4th, 2021 at 2:27 pm
That kid can really move for a big guy. Impressive closing speed (and hat tip to Vea for absolutely destroying 2 O linemen!!!). Tryon hustled downfield too after some receivers, I love the motor.
Everyone who bashed that pick is going to feel dumber and dumber with each of these plays he makes.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:53 pm
Yes he shows great effort on every play.
October 4th, 2021 at 7:44 pm
I think Tryon might be a sleeper for DROTY. People might end up sleeping on him.
October 4th, 2021 at 8:54 pm
Updated version of Julius Peppers, could be. How about UDub giving us studs?
