Cocky Tom Brady

October 3rd, 2021

Multiple times over the past two years, Joe has written about how ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, the pride of Pinellas County, has a unique place inside the Tom Brady inner circle.

It’s what made his November report on Brady demanding Bucs coaches improve so damn intriguing.

Joe has no doubt Brady wanted Darlington to put that out there, and Darlington himself last week talked on the air about how everything Brady feels calculated.

Fast forward to the build-up to Brady facing the Belicheats tonight, and guess who had a private sitdown with Brady to air on television today. Yes, it’s Darlington. BSPN is breaking the interview up all morning, but it did share a piece last week.

In the segment, Brady was telling Darlington how he knows what will be said in Patriots meetings all week, he knows what they will try and want to do, and what the wind will be like, etc. It was a cocky rant atypical of the usual Bradyspeak leading up to a game.

Joe found that intriguing, considering Brady likes to downplay things publicly.

Darlington told The Rich Eisen Show yesterday that the interview was shot weeks ago with Brady understanding that it woudn’t air until Bucs-Patriots pregame.

What message is Brady trying to send?

Whose head is he trying to get into?

**Darlington is a guest on today’s Bucs Kickoff podcast with Rock Riley.

He’s trying to slap the whole team awake, from the ball boys to the coaches. If this team doesn’t get it’s head out of the clouds, and realize they can’t just show up and win, we’re doomed.

  2. Medicated Pete Says:

Just further proof that TB12 is the entire organization. Pete’s listening to Adele “Hello” right now and crying 👀💦💦💦💦💦

  3. BigMacAttack Says:

All the meds in the World can’t fix Pete, but moving out of Mom’s house and finding a job would be a nice start.

  4. Miller5252 Says:

Losing Gronk is going to be bad for Brady and the offense. With our his blocking I’m wondering if they’ll be bringing lineman instead of TE’s today. It should make for a good game.

  5. JimmyJack Says:

The comments from the old article Joe refrenced were hilarious. If you got a few mins and want a good laugh i suggest you give it a look.

  6. Listnfrmafar Says:

No doubt Gronk is an asset. If Bill is such a mastermind why did he spend $265M this year paying for dog crap. Team still does not have a #1 receiver, their so called elite TE’s stink and def blows. Mac Jones a good future Qb (if this game doesn’t ruin him) is a rookie. Last I checked players are the ones on the field making plays and coaches are on the sideline crossing their fingers the players make them. If Brady and Bucs lose this game to a 1-2 team with their one win over Jets, you can kiss the playoffs good bye. This should be a smoke show even without the presence of Gronk.

  7. Leighroy Says:

Cocky can sometimes be confused with confidence. Brady is simply stating he knows what’s coming….bc he does! What else is he supposed to say?

  8. Gordon Brook Says:

ESPN reported Jeff Darlington is doing a great job. Recently the Bucs. have lost some great players. It is difficult to see who will win the game tonight because it will be raining at Patriots Stadium. I have always loved the Patriots, but more than anything I hope that Tom Brady will win this game because he is surely the very best QB ever in the NFL!!

  9. PAUL CAPPADONA Says:

Most everyone, coaches and players used a compass to navigate the football fields, Brady on the other hand uses the Anatolian mechanism..

  10. Bucman Says:

Pete has some of the best sense of humor in here. And some gawd awful takes. Together, they’re worth it.

  11. Steve Gaudreau Says:

Tom has always believed in himself right from day one on the football field, be it in Michigan, New England or Tampa. It’s like Bruce Banners secret to hauling out the Hulk, he’s always angry. Tom is definitely focused. He’s spent 19 years on that field in Gillette stadium so I’m sure he knows everything there is to know and he definitely knows Bill’s defense. He would always be pissed if he had a bad practice against the D. Think of it as a real life sim. He knows what’s coming his way and he is built for this game specifically, motivated by confidence that he will crush it. I love it and 8pm isn’t getting here fast enough. I’m bummed Gronk can’t play though. I’d have liked to see Bill’s face when they would have scored a touchdown. New England seems to be 80\20 Tom. They even had a goat parade bahahahahahaha! Get your popcorn ready!

  12. G.Marosi Says:

I hope it’s a game we can tell our grandkids about!
    Go TB12 & GoBuc’s
