One Bad Element Of The Offense

Needs to be addressed.
No, this isn’t about the running game starting to stink worse than a Porta-Potty in July.
Even with the embarrassing lack of production from the running attack (two yards a carry Sunday!!!), there is not much to quibble about with the Bucs offense. Even with the Bucs only scoring 24 points, when Tom Brady goes back to pass, magic often happens.
One thing hurting is penalties. Through three games, per FootballDB.com, the Bucs are second to the Eagles in the NFL in penalties. Yes, that’s what it shows. The Bucs, per the site, have 27 penalties through three games.
Joe doesn’t think penalties led to the loss in Los Angeles but you get Joe’s drift.
The biggest culprit appears to be false starts. The Bucs have six, the most of any the team.
The Bucs played two home games, so you cannot blame crowd noise on dudes jumping. To Joe, not knowing the snap count is one of the more unforgivable sins of football. That’s just not thinking, plain and simple.
But if you think about it, have all the false starts hurt the Bucs? Not really. Maybe hardly at all.
No, it’s not a habit you want to continue. But the way the Bucs are passing, it doesn’t appear to be killing the Bucs offense. Yet.

We need another flushing like after the Chicago flag fest last year. They had zero penalties the next week against GB.
No matter how much has been said about complacency to the players by the coaches and Brady about it, this would be a glaring area of complacency. Just plain dumb pre snap penalties.
It sure would be nice to see a clean game again by Bucs this week in NE.

Seems like more Defensive penalties, PI and offsides. Those are killers.

Penalties are just a fact of life in the NFL. Some end up being irrelevant, but some cost you dearly, such as those that keep drives alive, those that kill drives & those that ultimately cost you points one way or the other. Bucs have had quite a few of those already this year it appears, especially on defense. Those have to stop because we’re simply not good enough defensively to overcome shooting ourselves in the foot.

Lack of physical mentality is what’s killing the offense. Hit em with your purses!!! Tell the big boys to effing run block like men then run the ball. Then Brady can go deep off play action. Little easier than when the other team knows it’s coming.

Dropped interceptions & passes, penalties, shanked punt, missed FG…..one sack….busted coverage……no running game….

2- 1st half penalties vs Rams were very costly- one took them from a 3rd and 1 to a 3rd and 6, resulted in Bucs punting. Another, right before the half, wiped out a big pass play that took them to near midfield with about 30-40 seconds left.

well 17-0 is gone. Wanna go 16-1? Get those damn corners up to the line and stop the dumbass penalties. I think they need to give the center carrot top a time out. Yeah it’s really cute when we are kicking the crap out of somebody but when it kills a drive, it’s not funny. It’s like Jeffrey Dahmer’s parents saying “he’s such a scamp, he’ll eat anything”

The Bucs got off to a slow start last year. Three lousy outings this year. They were lucky to pull off wins against Dallas & Atlanta. The play calling is questionable. Last year it seemed like Brady got frustrated and took over the play calling on critical drives. STOP running it up the gut on first down! Set up the run with the passing game. The numbers do not lie. Look at the gains on 1st down when the Bucs pass vs run. Mix it up a bit to have longer drives that end up in scores & keep the Dee off the field. If they do not adjust, forget the playoffs this year.

The multiple false starts were drive killers in LA. Unfortunately I doubt the problem will simply go away this weekend. Loud venues are tough on any team, especially this early in the season.

Whoever said Bucs better bring there A game against the Pats is right. The Pats like the Rams are going to play like it’s their Super Bowl. If the Bucs don’t match their intensity we may be in the same boat next week. Trying to figure out what went wrong. We all know the Bucs out talent the Pats and most teams. It’s time they start playing like it.

False starts and penalties, it’s all about the timing and when it happens, if you are fourth and 1, that’s not good

Some of those penalties where drive killers. You cant go forward when you are constantly going backward.

Def listed Brady’s stats in an earlier post, something about his early deep ball percentage, I can think of two not Brady’s fault, drop by Gronk and not sure if Ramsey held Evan’s or Evan’s just quit on the play but the pass was right where it was supposed to be. I say it was Ramsey foul but refs normally give him the benefit of the doubt, NO flag thrown. Those were two drive killers.
