Jason Pierre-Paul On Loss: “We Will See Their @ss Again”
September 27th, 2021Bucs outside linebacker, edge rusher and heart and soul of the defense, Jason Pierre-Paul, didn’t make the trip to Los Angeles.
JPP was told by doctors he needed to rest his bum shoulder. So he didn’t go. And on his Instagram stories account last night, JPP said he’s not sure if he would play next weekend in New England.
What JPP did say in his Instagram stories account was that the Rams will face the Bucs again. Meaning come playoff time.
JPP watched the game from what appeared to be a downtown Tampa waterfront watering hole (after he visited the barber). JPP hollered in praise of his teammates when they did well (like Will Gholston’s sack) and cussed when things didn’t go right — and apologized to his followers for using spicy language.
After the game was over, JPP said the Bucs will square up against the Rams again before everything is finished this season.
“We will see their @ss again, though, straight up,” JPP said. “We will see their @ss again.”
You could tell JPP is looking forward to a rematch.
Perhaps the Bucs missed JPP more than Joe envisioned? After early success yesterday, rookie Joe Tryon-Shoyinka didn’t make much of an impact beyond the first quarter. And Anthony Nelson, did you know he was even on the field?
JPP is a spiritual and emotional leader. Perhaps that’s what the Bucs missed in Los Angeles?
And yesterday was yet another example of when JPP cannot go, Shaq Barrett is neutered.
A compelling question Joe wonders: Did JPP have a grueling weekend off as Christian McCaffrey did after suffering a pulled hamstring on Thursday night?

Not if TB12 keeps taking hits like that. If Licht had any clue, he’d give Drew Brees our play book & tell him to keep his arm loose so when Brady gets hurt, Bucs have a decent QB ready to go
September 27th, 2021 at 6:47 am
We spend very little of our cap space on our secondary and it shows. Also the pass rush in not effective but maybe caused by DB playing so far off the line allowing so many quick throws.
September 27th, 2021 at 7:01 am
Brees hates Tampa Bay. He will never play for this team.
September 27th, 2021 at 7:02 am
76 I agree whybso far off receivers?? Felt like that old days when we had the worst defense in the league. They just took the easy route over and over. Wide open guys EVERYWHERE!
September 27th, 2021 at 7:02 am
I’m happy Medicated Pete is not our GM. Brees was washed, he could not throw the ball anymore…
September 27th, 2021 at 7:07 am
Pete lol. You need more meds. I knew u weren’t a long-time Bucs fan. Sign a washed up qb that’d get slaughtered here? By the fans!! Go back to sleep kid
September 27th, 2021 at 7:08 am
We had one sack in each game with him, and one sack in a game without him. We don’t need an emotional leader, we need a sack leader. Teams are moving the ball through the air on us at an alarming rate whether JPP plays or not. I hope the Glazers have Bowles bonus check in escrow, because he sure hasn’t earned it so far this year.
September 27th, 2021 at 7:42 am
Wonder if they are gonna sign Sherman today ?
September 27th, 2021 at 7:48 am
Well the first two games sure indicated our pass rush had disappeared. It’s the main reason I predicted a loss to the Rams who have really improved their game with a top qb. They already had excellent pass receivers especially Cooper. They also have very strong lines on both offense and defense. Their line backers and dbs are hard hitters but not exceptionally fast and can be beat and Brady racked up decent passing yards. And finally the Rams were playing at home and were totally stoked. I was one of the few on here to predict a Buc loss. All the signs from the first two games highlighted our vulnerabilities. Until we regain an effective pass rush and an adequate pass defensive backfield we will be in a dog fight with all but the weakest teams.
September 27th, 2021 at 7:55 am
PA Bucs fan;
You nailed it. We should be hitting them at the line. that would give the OL a split second more to put pressure on the QB. Sure, we will get burned sometimes. But as President Trump said “what the hell do you have to lose” haha. But we lost that game in the 1st qtr. Our receivers were running routes or 2 yards short. I can think of at least 3 times they cut their routes short. That cost us 3 first downs. You gotta wonder what the goat could have done with three more 1st downs.
September 27th, 2021 at 8:04 am
Sean McVay out schemed Todd Bowles the same way Kellen Moore did. Short-quick passes to soft spots in our zone to negate the pass rush, and don’t even bother running the ball till you have a lead. But on top of that, no one on the DL was beating anyone – not Suh or VV either.
If TB doesn’t mix up his scheme soon, like he did in the playoffs, then any OC with a clue is going to have success.
September 27th, 2021 at 8:07 am
Lets not overreact. There is still a long season and a lot of games to play. I did have this game as a lost. Now as for the pas rush I have always said we can’t pressure with 4. You would think we could the way Vea can command a double team and a push to leave the outside 1 on 1. We have players in the secondary but the problem is we have no DB with speed. Yeah Dean is a 4.3 but he plays slow. Like I’ve said before any team that has a solid front 7 they will have a chance against the Bucs until a mismatch is found or hole in the defense.
September 27th, 2021 at 8:07 am
do you believe in miracles? If you didn’t you should now. To lose by only 10 points after that ass whipping?????
This is for the coaches. Your 44 yr old QB threw over 430 yards, 1 td and no interceptions. Most fans would see those stats and they would say ?damn, we kicked the s^%# out of somebody!!! I said last week the Bucs will have to score on every possession. We did good from halftime on. BL, tell your receivers if we need 8 yds for a first down, run a 10 yard rout, not 6. Tom was getting you the ball but no cigar. Sorry Clinton
September 27th, 2021 at 8:08 am
Wild Bill. Disappearing Pass Rush.. Devin White regressing… injury….and playing soft against the short passes and tackling poorly. Those four things explain much of the current dilemma.
September 27th, 2021 at 8:16 am
@mark2001: I would add lack of team heart to the pile.
This is like the vAir Coryell days: all offense, stink defense. Exciting football, but still with losses.
September 27th, 2021 at 8:23 am
I have to disagree that Brady took any really hard hits. He is very nimble when he feels the pressure and even when he is being sacked he goes into a protect mode and doesn’t absorb unneccesary punishment as he is already taking himself to the ground. He doesnt expose his midsection nor his knees in any of the sacks so I think its an over-reaction. You don’t play 22 years in the NFL by absorbing body-blows and getting concussions. Troy Aikmann at 33 years old had taken more of a beating than TB has done his whole career.
I’m more worried that we can’t wrap up opposing quarterbacks with this 4 man rush stuff that is doing nothing.
September 27th, 2021 at 8:28 am
Moving on to the Patriots. Mac Jones will be throwing 400+ yards against our “Soft as Charmin” defense. Toilet Bowles will still look clueless.
September 27th, 2021 at 8:34 am
Rams acting like they won the super bowl. Ummm wonder where I’ve seen that before. Oh saints last year y’all some over dramatic fools!!!
September 27th, 2021 at 8:34 am
Brady’s first in season game loss when he threw over 400yds and no ints. This is humbling and I hope it doesn’t spill over into next week. Belichick will sleep all week and watch the Rams game over and over again. Maybe Bucs coaching staff should do the same.
September 27th, 2021 at 8:35 am
Won’t sleep. Freaking auto fill
September 27th, 2021 at 8:40 am
STFU!
Talk is cheap, thanks
September 27th, 2021 at 8:42 am
Can’t win them all.
But the big question is as and all know the answer is, can we repeat with this secondary, combined with no pass….
September 27th, 2021 at 8:45 am
This is like the fifth comment about where he watched the game. WGAF. The man has busted his tail for this team and emphasizing over and again that he was at a waterside watering hole makes it sound like there is something wrong with that. God Bless him for getting out in public and acting like a normal guy (even though he is superhuman).
Get well, JPP. And when you aren’t, watch the games anywhere you damn well please.
September 27th, 2021 at 9:10 am
First loss in 10 or so calendar months and the diving out a basement window is at a fevered pitch. This sets up a sweet revenge scenario a la the Saints last season. Or the Bucs beating the Eagles in 2002 for longer time fans. I prefer underdog status anyhow. Bucs are never that good in the “favorite” role historically.
September 27th, 2021 at 9:10 am
Shaq (I want the record in sacks, and to be mvp) Barrett was almost completely invisible yesterday.
September 27th, 2021 at 9:26 am
Too bad Brady’s heart & mind can’t play defense, too…
September 27th, 2021 at 9:26 am
We missed JPP in the game & on the sideline….could use all the help we can get.
September 27th, 2021 at 9:37 am
You’re not a true Bucs fan if you weren’t at least a bit troubled by yesterday’s performance. That said overreaction Monday is predictably in full swing. First quarter of the season. Obviously we need to perform well next weekend. If we do I’ll feel a lot better. Clearly changes will be made in the secondary between now and then. And perhaps after, depending on the health of our corners. But I never thought for a minute we were going undefeated.
September 27th, 2021 at 9:38 am
Wait, not only was Tom Brady the Bucs leading rusher, his total yards rushing was 14 yards!!! “With the 19th pick, the Buccaneers choose….OJ Howard”!!! Oh wherefore art thou Calvin Cook!!!
September 27th, 2021 at 9:41 am
Not sure about Calvin Cook, but his cousin Dalvin didn’t play yesterday so he wouldn’t have led us in rushing.
September 27th, 2021 at 9:46 am
Insult to injury, Peyton Barber had 111 yards and a touchdown last night.
September 27th, 2021 at 9:54 am
I love JPP, maybe a bad case of jet lag?
September 27th, 2021 at 10:08 am
@163DoublePlay … “Toilet Bowles will still look clueless.”
Todd Bowles & his defensive coaching staff isn’t ‘clueless’ by any means; their performance in last year’s playoffs showed that. These are the same coaches & defensive players who won the Super Bowl last season, well except for the injury substitutes (Delaney & JTS being the new guys).
Might be wrong, but what I’m seeing is that our defensive players aren’t playing with the same intensity and MAKING PLAYS like they did last season (example: the dropped INT yesterday?). Part of that is probably that other teams have figured out our weaknesses, and part of it is that we haven’t adapted very well in our defensive schemes. Be that as it may, it ultimately still comes back to the players not playing at the level that they need to in order to win another championship. It’s still early though …
September 27th, 2021 at 10:18 am
I hope JPP is wrong. The Rams have our number ans we just do not match up well with them. The defense is a big problem and I think we saw this with the back ups in preseason. They could not cover anyone. Sad.
September 27th, 2021 at 10:42 am
Bucs started wobbly last year, too. Rams have a good team and coaches. Raheem Morris, anyone? He’s always been a great DB coach. Glad to see him back in action. Both Bowles and Licht know they have got to get some youth on the DL. Such and JPP are way too long in the tooth. And Joes, quit bellyaching about preseason games, You sound like you’re braindead at times! Sheesh!
September 27th, 2021 at 10:55 am
Suh not Such.
September 27th, 2021 at 10:56 am
Possible we missed some of the leadership
September 27th, 2021 at 11:33 am
When we beat the Patriots I want to hear about the whole team not just Brady. Yall do this all the time we lose then it’s the team . We win then it’s all because of Brady and how Brady is great and when someone give credit to the other players then that means you a Brady hater . So when we beat the Patriots I want to see every player getting credit not just Brady !! Go Bucs !!!
September 27th, 2021 at 11:43 am
@“We Will See Their @ss Again”
————————————–
we thought so as well.. before the reality did hit us.
I don’t see how D can get better with the same guys that can NOT pass rush, and allow 30 point per game, and ~ 400 yards per game….
miracles happen once, or very rarely. We burned the chance already..
September 27th, 2021 at 12:43 pm
Yeah, I’m not worried about it. Also, for those with short memories, we played the Rams last year, lost to them in an ugly game, and sort of went on to do something big.
September 27th, 2021 at 1:15 pm
Love JPP, we need him and it shows.
September 27th, 2021 at 2:14 pm
Was our pass rush amazing with a hurting JPP the first 2 weeks and I missed it?
Offensive Coordinators figured out how to game us.
We haven’t adjusted well.
Injuries are piling up.
This is where the coaches will earn their cash.
BTW, where are all the BL haters, there were some great plays called against the Rams!
Oh that’s right, they only complain when we run up the middle.
In BA I Trust!
September 27th, 2021 at 3:31 pm
I love the saltiness from JPP. I dont think we will see them again because I dont think Stafford survives a 17 game season in the NFC West. The secondary is decimated, but there is still enough firepower to win on Sunday.
