The DeSean Jackson X-Factor
September 25th, 2021So when the Rams go four-wide tomorrow, who will cover frustrated speedster receiver and former Bucs locker room disrputor DeSean Jackson?
The 41st-leading receiver in NFL history (10,677 yards), is yearning to be more involved in the Rams’ offense, he said this week. And his head coach, Sean McVay, added that he needs to get Jackson more invovled.
Running against the Bucs is foolish for any opponent, so there’s a great chance 34-year-old Jackson will get a good amount of work against the Bucs in four-receiver sets.
Jackson has just two targets this season in two games; he caught both balls for a combined 21 yards.
Given that Jackson cared about the Bucs when he was on the team about as much as Joe cares about college swimming, it would be awfully annoying if Jackson is effective against the Bucs. And yeah, Joe suspects Jackson’s competitive fire will burn a little hotter tomorrow.
So Joe asks again, who in the Bucs secondary can hang with Jackson deep if Carlton Davis is busy with the Rams’ top receivers?

Davis is our only consistently good corner, so the Rams are going to light up our defense through the air. Bucs 42 Rams 38.

Pete will have a colossal meltdown if that idiot makes a big play

Certainly an “X” factor. He would definitely like to prove that he was not the problem while he was with the Bucs.
Something to watch for for sure. He has a lot more to prove than we do.

Over/under of deep throws his way: 2.5- He’s been a non-factor this season so far but there’s the “revenge” factor.

Again, press man-to-man coverage with a solid chuck at the line to disrupt timing plays will give our pass rush the extra second or two to get home on Stafford.

My money’s on Winfield or Evanx picking those long plays If we pressure Stafford

gp ….Again, press man-to-man coverage with a solid chuck at the line to disrupt timing plays will give our pass rush the extra second or two to get home on Stafford.
Been a long time since that common sense approach has been used with this defense.
J Dean lines up and concedes first downs, because he is just not confident even though he has good speed.
The Bucs will have to win a shootout at the SoFi Corral.
Clean jersey for Brady, and not a bunch of turnovers= Bucs Win

They go four-wide I hope White or David are blitzing, and get home. I’m tired of seeing 4 on 4 and no one getting there to apply at least some quick pressure while they pick apart our secondary. …and lately, it’s been against the weakest corner. Maybe instead of man 2 man play more zone or Tampa Two. Stafford is too accurate to let him stand on a spot and throw it. We need him moving.

This is game 3 , isn’t this about the time DivaSean Jackson pulls his V@gina and is out for the season?

The only X factor here is DSJ being 34. He is such a non factor especially recently this article is silly. Slow news day!

Hit him in the mouth off the line hard and if he catches it tackle him harder. He doesn’t like contact at all. I’m way more worried about Kupp and the others.

72° will feel like fall to the Bucs today! It’s gonna be an offensive game both sides with TB12 getting the ball last
38-27 Bucs Scooter n Gio comin up large!

Winfield will be steps away from him all day, might get a couple of unsportsmanlike calls against DeSean, as he gets frustrated.

It’s gonna be a shoot out I think. Our secondary is bare bones but the defense as a unit is vicious so I think Stafford will make mistakes he can’t afford.

The Rams are full of Ex Tampa Bay Bucs. Not only Desean Jackson, but Sean McVeigh and Raheem Morris were both coaches here in Tampa.
