“We Probably Practice Red Zone Offense And Defense More Than Most Teams”

Bucco Bruce Arains traveled the country weekly during the 2018 season, sitting with NFL coaches and coordinators, talking ball and watching practices as part of his prep for CBS broadcasts.
Joe can’t say Arians, then 66 years old, learned many new things. But Joe is sure Tampa Bay’s head coach got plenty of fresh perspective.
Maybe that experience was tied to his Tuesday comments during The Bruce Arians Show show on WDAE radio.
“We probably practice red zone offense and defense more than most teams,” Arians said during a chat about the Bucs’ touchdown-scoring efficency.
“Byron [Leftwich] had a great plan. Tom sees it down there. Some are runs that he makes into passes. And he does a great job of just taking what’s there in the red zone. And then we’re scoring from out farther away, too. But when we’re in tight, that’s really hard for most quarterbacks and he just sees it. And he’s got a great feel for it and we do have some good weapons for him to throw to.”
Joe is intrigued by the Bucs practicing more red zone on both sides of the football than most teams. That sure sounds like a great decision.
As for the Tom Brady lighting up the scoreboard and setting and approaching various Bucs passing records, Arians quipped that may be as much about the past as it is the present. “It says something about the Bucs’ history of running the ball too damn much.”

They practice red zone offense a lot, because they’re in the red zone a lot. Duh!

Brady is the ultimate team player and competitor. Trask has a front row seat to watch the greatest QB of all time, and even more beneficial- Brady is the GOAT bc of his leadership skills AND his big time arm/decision making. He leads others and teammates are motivated to play with him. I feel so very blessed that he chose the Bucs last year, and hope we can continue to appreciate the hell out of his presence by maximizing it and going all in. Let’s build such a power house of a franchise that TB12 has the luxury of completing his contract next year and WANTS to come back bc he is WANTED, APPRECIATED, and the remaining time would be maximized. LFG Bucs!

They practice red zone so the mis-direction plays only confuse the other teams.
Lot of moving pieces in those end zones.

I laughed Monday night when Manning asked Gronk if he only showed up to Red Zone practice and Gronk said he had it reversed, that he takes those days off because he has Red Zone perfected. Gotta love Gronk.

Brady will extend for 23/24 Gronk will follow Trask, he’s like the puppy that has to run like crazy to keep up with the big dogs. He just needs to pay close attention to the BIG dog. If he has the talent, in the end, he’s got a shot.
