Old Tom Brady Likes Old Tom Brady Plays
September 22nd, 2021This video is sort of X’s and O’s geeky but it’s pretty cool to see how plays develop.
It’s also cool the reading and dissecting of defenses is done by salad bar-hating, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, helmet-tossing, football-punting, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady.
The last clip in this BSPN video from “NFL Matchup” narrated by Matt Bowen demonstrates that the Bucs, at least on this play, are running an old Belicheats play Brady loved and used often.
The difference is Brady didn’t often have a receiver who could separate — as Bowen says — with “some juice!” — like Chris Godwin.
The video breaks down the Bucs’ first touchdown of the season, caught by Godwin. Bowen said that is a red zone play he’s seen many times with the Belicheats.
Have fun watching this.

We have a Jedi, Wizard, Wiley old Goat at QB. It’s a joy watching him play and read a defense. We are for real.

Is just me, or are we putting a man in motion on almost every play?
Jason likes it!

It’s taken a year, but Brady has insinuated a lot of his playbook, accumulated over 20 years, into the offense; hard for BA to say no to a legend.

You can thank Josh McDaniels for those. Another play I recall was the short cut in the out pass to Evan’s in the end zone, Edleman scored on the exact same play in Pat’s /Seattle SB. Nothing wrong with the combo no risk it/ Patriots plays that worked forever. It will be interesting how they work next week. Oneilbucyall, where is the video on how Jamais reads defenses?

If Mike Evans can continue to run that new dig route that he’s finally learned, bucs will be unstoppable near goal line. AB runs that route brilliantly too

Consistency is the only concern I have for the Bucs offense. I expect them to improve and be more consistent as the season moves along. There were to many dry spells during the first two games.

Hey Joe, if you keep adding descriptions to Brady’s name you’re going to run out of room for your article.

Nice X-O breakdown. But the real truth is we just have too many weapons for any D to take away all of them – its impossible.
The Rams story will be more about our D than our offense – we can score against the Rams. But I think the Rams maybe able to keep up in a scoring contest as I don’t think our D can slow them down.
The game in 2 weeks versus the Belicheats will be all about how our offense deals with a well game planned defense of the Pats.
Both games are going to tell us a lot

Hey Pete. Put down the bottle and go watch ME in College.
I think he ran the dig route pretty well there.

How did “juice” become the buzz word in football this year?
Who started it?
Feels like a Gruden word.
