Antonio Brown > DeSean Jackson
September 21st, 2021Antonio Brown is everything DeSean Jackson was supposed to be.
When the Bucs signed DeSean Jackson before the 2017 season, he was supposed to stretch the field for Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, and provide the Bucs with maybe a dozen touchdowns off bombs for the season.
The only bomb he dropped was the turd in the locker room he turned out to be.
To this day, Joe still sees the orgasmic-like responses people have for Jackson, now with the Rams, on social media. It’s like Joe can hear the collective sighs when Jackson’s name is mentioned, even though he hasn’t done s(p)it in the league since he first played for the Eagles.
(Someone in a fit of terror Twittered Joe a quote yesterday from Sean McVay that the Rams had to get the ball to Jackson deep more. Pppffftt. Wake Joe up when it happens.)
But you know what free agent wide receiver did turn out to be a top-shelf bomb threat for the Bucs? That would be furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing Antonio Brown.
Per Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports, Brown is top-five in average yards per catch through two weeks of the 2021 season.
The #NFL yards per catch leaders — through Week 2
1. Quez Watkins — 28.0
2. D.J. Chark — 26.3
3. Robby Anderson — 23.8
4. Tyler Lockett — 23.2
5. Antonio Brown — 23.0#Eagles #FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/XMm5mv9FyC— Jeff Kerr (@JeffKerrCBS) September 21, 2021
Here’s something else Bucs fans may embrace:
After Jackson successfully became such a pain in the posterior, Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht traded Jackson in March 2019 for a sixth-round in the draft later that spring.
That sixth-round draft pick turned out to be Scotty Miller.
Now you tell Joe who has had a more positive impact on the Bucs’ franchise, Miller or cancer Jackson?
Joe doesn’t even need to ask if Brown has had more of an impact. We all know the answer to that.

If DeSean Jackass beats Bucs DB’s deep on Sunday, Pete will have a meltdown, Natty Daddy binge like never before
September 21st, 2021 at 10:19 am
I don’t care what joe says when game day came desean was wide open. The QB could not hit him to save his life under throwing over throwing. This his why he wanted out. Don’t give me that practice bull him jameis and Evans work out together all off season. Fitz magic had no problems hitting him in stride when he was QBing. Go rewatch any of those gms Jackson was livid on the field.

I saw the title to this article and “Water is wet” came to mind.
September 21st, 2021 at 10:31 am
Jackson played a total of 3 plays ( + or – ) last week. End of the road…although I expect a “revenge” bomb or two thrown his way Sunday, however.
September 21st, 2021 at 10:32 am
Pete you should stick to the generic meds so you can splurged on a better beer!
September 21st, 2021 at 10:32 am
If DeSean Jackson out performs Antonio Brown on Sunday, and torches our secondary along w/ Cooper Kupp, I will have to join Mr. pill-popping, Natty Boh-binge-drinking, incessant-commenting Medicated Pete in having a meltdown. Get your popcorn ready, Joe.

D Jax was good. horrible QB could not hit him though.
AB is better.
September 21st, 2021 at 10:33 am
And I understand he was being a malcontent behind the scenes. The wouldn’t trade him he was trying to force it. I’m not saying that was right but other players also want fitz to keep the job.
September 21st, 2021 at 10:56 am
Pete I have the Natty Daddy’s on ice.
September 21st, 2021 at 11:00 am
One is about himself, and the other is about devotion and team, with some self-destructive behavior mixed in. Here, AB has been a dream, model citizen. Even punching that Titan was justified.
September 21st, 2021 at 11:03 am
Desean Jackson was absolute a punk and AB is undisputedly better. But anyone paying attention knows what the real difference is.
Tom Brady > Jameis Winston
Dirk Koetter absolutely needed to go for a multitude of reasons, but he was always right about one thing “Desean’s getting open.”
Jameis was just incapable of hitting him in stride. Not because he didn’t have the arm talent, but because he’s an inconsistent headcase.

How wild is it that this is our lives now… I used to get on this site and have heated debates about whether we should be starting Josh Freeman or Mike Glennon and talking about whether Greg Schiano was a worthwhile coach that we should keep around… Definitely something to be said about having that perspective and being able to recognize that we’re living the glory years right now. Life’s good as a Bucs fan.
September 21st, 2021 at 11:04 am
absolutely*
September 21st, 2021 at 11:12 am
I think our Brown is an amazing WR. A joy to watch him run routs. Twitches to get open and always gets the most yardage after a catch. What a weapon (we have so many) in TB’s arsenal.
September 21st, 2021 at 11:25 am
Don’t blame DeSean for a Bucs qb that could never hit him in stride. Who wouldn’t want out !
September 21st, 2021 at 11:28 am
Cancer Jackson will catch 1 pass then pull a hammy or hurt his v@gina and then he’ll be done for the season.
September 21st, 2021 at 11:33 am
Jackson is and was always be a turd. Gang tattoos galore, and weapons charges to boot. If he didn’t run 4.2 he’d be playing in Canada. Typical loser, always looking out for himself and trashing locker room etiquette
September 21st, 2021 at 11:34 am
Will always be.
September 21st, 2021 at 11:50 am
I don’t know.
I heard somewhere that Brown tosses a lot of furniture.
He’s still AB. Ya never know imo.
The answer is Miller Joe.
Go Bucs!!!
September 21st, 2021 at 11:55 am
“Antonio Brown is everything DeSean Jackson was supposed to be.”
And in a twist of fate, Desean Jackson was everything Antonio Brown was supposed to be.
September 21st, 2021 at 12:04 pm
Brown has been nothing but wonderful since he got here. He fits in great with teammates, hasn’t been in any trouble, and he’s still Antonio Brown on the field. Who cares about the other guy that is nowhere near the player of AB. I’m glad AB’s in Tampa!! Go Bucs!!
September 21st, 2021 at 12:10 pm
The difference is that one would be the best WR ever if not for his problems outside the game. The other… Nothing special…
September 21st, 2021 at 12:14 pm
Tom Brady changes everything. No receiver will dare complain about anything. I believe that Mike Evans (and the others) want to win so badly that they’ll happily take a smaller share of a larger pie.
September 21st, 2021 at 12:19 pm
Clod, Bob Dylan couldn’t describe ” a simple twist of fate” better than you just did….
September 21st, 2021 at 12:44 pm
To go along with bad coaching over the years, Jameis was opposite of leader in the locker room.
September 21st, 2021 at 1:00 pm
We going to dominate the rams
September 21st, 2021 at 1:39 pm
I thought D Jackson would be great but he wasn’t. He has not been anything in this league in several years.
I hope the front 5 are ready to bring some serious heat on Stafford
September 21st, 2021 at 2:41 pm
Antonio Brown craps Desean Jackson and wipes with Michael Clayton.
September 21st, 2021 at 3:00 pm
Jameis never had a problem throwing to anyone but Desean. Make of that what you will.
September 21st, 2021 at 3:07 pm
What is really nice is that at 1st and goal from the 8 yard line, AB is our 4th option.
September 21st, 2021 at 3:12 pm
Seems like it’s no secret that Jameis was the issue there and that DJax seemed to do just fine with Fitzmagic under center. That said, yes, of course AB is better.
September 21st, 2021 at 3:37 pm
Putting Jackson’s crybaby “me first” attitude aside the guy is made of glass . I’d love to know how many games he’s sat out injured since we traded him. Thank the lord for Scotty Miller and AB I’d take them any day of the week over Mesean. If the guy had only kept quiet he could have had the GOAT throwing him the ball I’m sure he’s regretting leaving.
September 21st, 2021 at 3:38 pm
Well yea. It’s not even close. AB is waaaayyyy better Djax
September 21st, 2021 at 4:08 pm
Wait, was that ever a question? DeSean Jackson was a very good deep threat, and a very good WR, but I don’t recall anyone being delusional enough to put him in the category of AB.
September 21st, 2021 at 4:08 pm
Bellingham – Really? Because I remember Fitz losing his job, twice.
September 21st, 2021 at 4:08 pm
One of Licht’s biggest f ups. I’m still pissed at whatever (maybe some day we’ll know) he did to undermine Jameis and if I remember correctly he was posting anti-Semitic quotes from that piece of filth Louis Farrakhan. D-bag through and through.
September 21st, 2021 at 4:32 pm
Buczilla – I’m still a Winston believer, but I don’t believe for a moment that Licht signed D-Jax to undermine Winston. Licht was barely holding onto his job at the time, and getting a 2nd WR to play along Evans was huge (we didn’t know Godwin would be anything special). Remember, what had killed the team at the end of 2016, was the lack of depth at WR, once V-Jackson got hurt, teams would double and even triple team Evans. Humphries was the #2 WR, where he hurt the team, badly (as a #4 WR, meanwhile, he was a huge boost), so getting a guy with special speed was seen as a big deal.
Why Winston and D-Jax never clicked, I don’t know. Winston had no issues throwing deep to Evans, Godwin, and V-Jackson. But, even before we signed him, I warned when guys have a special type of speed, something unique, it can take a while to get on the same page – and we later find out that D-Jax wasn’t practicing, and that likely was the issue. A weak coach like Dirk not putting his foot down cost them bigly.
As for D-Jax posting anti-Semitic crap… I think the issue is that D-Jax just isn’t very smart. I do believe him when he said he didn’t know the meaning of what posted. I completely understand that if a white player did that, a conservative on anyways, it would be non-stop the top story on ESPN until they got that player cut from the team and ran him out of the NFL, but just because they are a bunch of d-bags doesn’t mean we have to be the same way.
September 21st, 2021 at 4:42 pm
Suck rocks!!
September 21st, 2021 at 5:49 pm
This is true. Jay-Miss was not accurate enough.
September 21st, 2021 at 7:07 pm
If it’s one thing I know for the most part on all these sites is that Jamies was the only problem with this team according to most of yall on this site. It didn’t matter if the defense gave up more games than the offense. It doesn’t matter if the offense was ranked top 5 and the defense was ranked 32 it was Jamies fault. So now the only thing matters on this site is if anyone don’t make Brady the only reason why we are winning regardless of the all star roster he’s playing with on offense than you are a Brady hater . You can’t even have a different opinion even if it’s facts on this site without arguing. You got people on hear saying you hope the bucs lose just because you don’t believe that Brady is the only reason why we winning and you give props to the whole team. Man the only thing yall like to do fight on here. Just because you may hate a player and someone else don’t . I see why people don’t come here anymore. Yall can’t even come together as a fan base just because we have different opinions about certain players or the team. We suppose to be having fun as a fan base but you can’t even give props to the other players that’s helping the team win because if you do than you a Brady hater. Lol 😆 🤣
September 21st, 2021 at 7:16 pm
I still don’t understand why we can’t just come together as a fan base even with our different opinions ?? At the end of day when the bucs we won the superbowl everyone on here was celebrating 🍾 !! I’m a football fan first then a bucs fan!!! I
September 21st, 2021 at 9:01 pm
Somebody caught near 20,000 yards worth of passes from Jameis while he was here. It just wasn’t D Jackson.
September 22nd, 2021 at 12:58 am
Wow, ONeil, u must be in a bad mood. This site is DOPE! We are altogether u need to read all comments. As far AS WHOEVER SAID wINSTON ONKLY THREW TO dEsEAN, HE GOT 30 INTERCEPTIONS WHICH PROVES RIGHT THERE HE THREW IT TO OVER 30 Players Sorry for caps. Keyboards! Anyway, Winston has a really bad team this year. No Godwins, nor Evans et.al. They should be easy to beat.
BTW, I loved this article in spite of the grammatical and editing errors. It was funny and insightful and fun to read, Joe.
September 22nd, 2021 at 1:00 am
And I enjoyed most of the comments in one way or another.
