Bucs A Finalist For Marshall “Total Fabrication”
April 14th, 2010Citing a source “inside” (presumably the Bucs; Twitter only allows 140 characters), Joe’s good friend and the dean of Tampa Bay sports radio, “The Big Dog,” Steve Duemig of WDAE-AM 620, reports that Ed Werder of BSPN is spreading false information concerning the Brandon Marshall trade to Miami.
Werder, citing a “source with direct involvement in the talks” (Josh McDaniels?), claims the Bucs were one of four teams in the final negotiations to acquire the troubled Broncos wide receiver. Duemig’s contact with the Bucs apparently strongly denies Werder’s report, as “The Big Dog” Twittered late Wednesday afternoon.
Ed Werder of BSPN is making s(p)it up on this Bucs being a finalist for Brandon Marshall. Total fabrication from very good source inside.
This is getting interesting.
Joe strongly trusts “The Big Dog’s” sources within the Bucs organization. So this tells Joe that Werder is/was being used. But why float the Bucs out there, for what purpose?
Very interesting.
April 14th, 2010 at 5:05 pm
Why would anyone reference the Bucs anymore, they are a joke organization among teams and fans……. Even Lions fans feel bad for us anymore
April 14th, 2010 at 5:16 pm
I don’t know what is worse, inquiring about Marshall and declining to go forward, or making no effort at all regarding Marshall?
Given the situation at wideout, it is incredible that they would make no effort at all, and are offended by the mere mention of it.
But, we are talking about the bucs, so the Big Dog sources are likely correct.
Very, very, very sad, depressing and inexplicable chain of missed opportunities in bucland, IMO.
April 14th, 2010 at 5:37 pm
I like the Big Dog. He inexplicably has his head so far up the Bucs ass these days, I am sure his source is either Dominik or the Glazers themselves. My theory is Big Dog’s going soft on them is Clear Channels accomodation to the Bucs as a result of the Sileo fiasco and his daily rants against the team and the Glazers. If Big Dog and the Sileo both went for the jugular, Clear Channel probably would be in jeopardy of losing its contract. I’m not convinced Big Dog himself buys what he is trying to sell.
April 14th, 2010 at 5:38 pm
Given the price tag for Marshall was two 2nd’s and not one I can live with the Bucs not getting him. He’ll be in his early 30’s by the time this organization begins to consider spending major money to field a competitive team.
In some ways I’d rather have a 2nd round pick to “grow up” with Freeman anyways. If they can pick the right one. And with this team’s recent draft history that is a big IF.
April 14th, 2010 at 5:49 pm
According the NFL.Com Penn is threatening to hold out until the pre-season if he does not get the deal he claims he was promised, or a trade.
And the hits just keep rolling in.
Perhaps we can make things worse yet by not having a good left tackle to protect Freeman’s blindside?
April 14th, 2010 at 6:03 pm
Let’s see. Trust Duemig or Ed Werder? Oh what a hard choice. I think Werder is a good reporter. Duemig has been in the tank with Dominik/Rah since last season. So the choice is quite obvious to me. Didn’t Duemig say that the Glazers were going to sell the team? Hmmm. What about when he said Alstott would not be back for sure if Gruden returned? Hmmm. What about the report that there was going to be an explosive Phil story before the Masters a few years ago? Hmmm. Not calling him names, just reporting exactly what he said on the radio.
April 14th, 2010 at 6:15 pm
Yes , Eric S , and Dumeg also reported that all the missing boaters from Marquis Cooper’s boat had been found…he will run with any shady source
April 14th, 2010 at 6:21 pm
And don’t forget he recently stated that if the bucs went 3-13 again the staff should be retained for the sake of continuity! And he seems to think the bucs will get as good a player as Holmes in the Fifth Round!!!!!!!!!!!!
Safe to say, whatever Rah ad Dom do will get his full endorsement.
April 14th, 2010 at 6:25 pm
Have to agree with everyone here.. Duemig only source is Dominik and if he thinks he won’t lie to him he’s a bigger goober than what he calls his listeners . I’m taking Werder here.. Where’s there’s smoke.
April 14th, 2010 at 6:37 pm
Joe, Tom Edrington on the Bleacher report is talking about Ted Ginn Jr to the Bucs for a sixth rounder. Could this be a possibility?
April 14th, 2010 at 6:40 pm
Joe and Readership:
IT IS TIME THAT WE COMPLETELY DISREGARD ANYTHING DUEMIG SAYS RE THE BUCS!! HE IS A SHILL FOR THE ORG DUE TO CONTRACTUAL RESTRAINTS PLACED ON HIM BY HIS EMPLOYER CLEARCHANNEL.
Duemig has absolutely no credibility when it comes to the bucs, period.
April 14th, 2010 at 6:40 pm
I KNOW THE BIG DOG’S SOURCE – IT’S JOEBUCSFAN.COM!!!!
Yesterday I wrote that the Bucs didn’t go for Marshall because there was a deal for Marshall – Apparently Duemig (play nice Mr. Lucky. — Joe) read that post and used THAT as his source!!! 🙂
April 14th, 2010 at 6:45 pm
Come on Radio, can’t get personal. You know that. — Joe.
April 14th, 2010 at 6:54 pm
Joe I love you man but the Bucs are going south faster than a tootsie roll in the toilet.
What sucks is that as a Florida resident, who loves WINNING football the Bucs are killing me.
In honor of the Brandon Marshall trade I’m gonna start my own blog:
Joefinsfan.com
April 14th, 2010 at 6:56 pm
Not true Thomas. Steve’s been correct on nearly all his inside information with the Bucs. He’s even scooped the local MSM on a number of occasions this year.
Joe’s heard Steve complain about Sabby the Goat and Byron Leftwich plenty of times as well as Geno Hayes.
April 14th, 2010 at 7:05 pm
On a non-personal note:
I want the great Justin Palowski in the afternoon time slot .
April 14th, 2010 at 7:15 pm
I second the vote for Palowski in the afternoons.
April 14th, 2010 at 7:17 pm
“Steve’s been correct on all his inside information with the Bucs. ”
I take it we are disregarding the infamous ” The Glazers have sold the Bucs” scoop ??
April 14th, 2010 at 7:24 pm
Joe here,
RadioMushmouth, what you pulled was edited for accuracy. Not your post. Mine.
April 14th, 2010 at 7:30 pm
The Glazer sale and the Alstott story has shown that he is not right on nearly all Bucs info. Those were two big examples of him being wrong.
April 14th, 2010 at 8:13 pm
Joe:
“Not true Thomas. Steve’s been correct on nearly all his inside information with the Bucs. He’s even scooped the local MSM on a number of occasions this year.”
I used “org” intentionally Joe. Sure he criticizes certain players, but he fails to evaluate the org i.e. Glazers, Dom and Radio objectively. He shamelessly defends the indefensible.
In terms of his credibility, he was preaching last pre-season that the tea may compete for a playoff position, and then when it was obvious how bad they were he acted like it was to be expected. That is just one example there are dozens more.
In my opinion, Duemig should be ignored until he can fairly analyze and report about the org, like JP and Justin do.
April 14th, 2010 at 8:22 pm
Agree – Don’t trust much of what Deumig ever says – most of which is self-promoting.
April 14th, 2010 at 8:34 pm
I see where Deumig has Dominik as his guest on tommorrows show. (Don’t get personal Jake. — Joe.) Guess Dominik needs some air time to get some good spin out there on this Marshall debacle. Should be a nauseating 30 minutes of radio.
April 14th, 2010 at 9:06 pm
It just keeps getting better and better! We let Bryant go, and get no replacement! Now Penn is likely going to leave. This team has no chance to compete next year, regardless of how we do in the draft. It’s a real shame, because with just a few significant improvements we could’ve taken advantage of our easy schedule next year.
The starters that we get out of the draft, which will only be probably 3 at the most, will be the only changes to the starting roster!
This is so sad and embarrassing. We let our best players go, but never replace them. The best players who deserve a rewarding contract never get it of course, but the people like Clayton get it. The Bucs front office has no class at all. They give Derrick Brooks the rudest departure possible, and won’t even take a second to let him retire as a Buc. The list goes on and on. I’m so disgusted.
We fired Gruden for this crap!
April 14th, 2010 at 9:12 pm
A couple of things….
First, I have little doubt that the Bucs are the ones telling Werder they were in the running just to placate those of us who can’t help but wonder what a Marshall/Holmes/Winslow combination would look like….both on the field and in the locker room (all for a 2nd & a 5th rounder this year)
As far as the Big Dog goes…..I like the guy. I certainly don’t agree with his analysis all the time, but I find the show entertaining and for the most part he’s usually talking about subjects I find interesting which is really all I ask for in my talk radio. I guess he can be a jock sniffer at times, but he’s still a pretty smart guy who knows sports……
April 14th, 2010 at 9:22 pm
And if the stuff that’s been going the last two years was under Grudens reign, Duemig would be going balistic. I used to give Steve the benefit of the doubt but the fact he won’t call the Bucs out is nauseating. And him having Dominik on just makes me want to puke. It comes easy to him (blasting) when people won’t give him the time of day but if they call his show he won’t say anything negative.. I.e Dominik, Allen, Alstott. I just think his creditbility to the fans of Tampa bay has ran it’s course.
April 14th, 2010 at 9:24 pm
Joe:
Your comment sections filled with bloggers calling out other bloggers, media types, athletes and owners on a daily basis with sarcasm and what you deem “personal” comments and you say nothing. Now your editing my comment cause I take a swipe at Deuming? Would you say a word let alone edit a comment if it wasnt about someone that you have a business relationship with? Come on Joe, love you but let the chips fall where they may with Deumig and his coverage of the Bucs.
April 14th, 2010 at 9:26 pm
I guess we are fresh out of trade speculations! Sorta looks like we were waisting our time eh?
Oh well, let the stupendous, magnificent, never before duplicated, full of probowlers, 2010 draft begin!
Mr. Dom, you are on the clock! Rah, put down the ice cream cone and pay attention! Glazers, quit watching the damn soccer match and get your heads in the game, your invaluable input is needed more than ever!
I can almost hear the Saints quivering in the background……..
April 14th, 2010 at 9:36 pm
Why are things so bad? I just don’t see where things are so bad for the Bucs. It may take a while to fill all the holes, but they are going in the right direction. Just wait until the Draft. The Bucs will load up on good players.
As for Marshall, I would trust Stephen Holder any day of the week, before some national no nothing reporter. I think if Dominick really wanted Marshall, he would have paid the price and got him a while back.
….and with the 3’rd selection in the 2010″ NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select… Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska!!!! Yea!!!! GO BUCS!!!!!
April 14th, 2010 at 9:39 pm
Joe here,
Jake – It’s really pretty straightforward. Joe has a contractual partnership with 620 and ClearChannel. While it doesn’t say in the paperwork that nobody can blast Duemig on JoeBucsFan.com, Joe has decided that he won’t let any commenters here bomb Duemig with personal attacks that go beyond the scope of sports. Pretty simple.
April 14th, 2010 at 9:40 pm
Ok fair enough Joe and you know what, I respect you for admitting that!
April 14th, 2010 at 9:45 pm
@BigMacAttack
I think it is kinda bad, but i would love to hear that selection also!
April 14th, 2010 at 9:46 pm
Dueming is a joke. He is entertaining but that comes from his false sense of knowledge on the bucs. I treat him like I treat the “vacation man’s” comments. Believe the oposite of what they say. It is amazing he still gets air time with all the false reports he has doctored up!!!
Boo this man!!!
April 14th, 2010 at 9:59 pm
Kudo’s to Joe for admitting that he can be bought off – just like WDAE.
Kudo’s to Joe for editing PERSONAL name calling – it’s time to be more civilized.
April 14th, 2010 at 10:01 pm
This just is – the Bucs are going to be contenders in 2010. In fact I guarentee they will be in the playoffs.
This also just in – I’m moving the Bucs to the CFL so I can guarentee my above guarentee
April 14th, 2010 at 10:27 pm
Well everybody needs to xall the show and yell at dominic and ask y they haven’t address the reciever postion because from the way it looks our widerecieving corp is gonna sux big time and for dominick and raheem not to help freemen in gettn him some recievers that can catch and make defenses respect us becuz right now there laughn at us!!
April 14th, 2010 at 10:31 pm
Just so everybody knows if they go with the receiving corps they have now and the recievers drop balls it will be all on freemen!
April 14th, 2010 at 11:12 pm
Guys:
Joe hates editing comments. That written, Joe wants to keep his contract with Clear Channel. It helps keep the content on Joe (aside from specialty packages) free. We all like free.
If you disagree with an on-air Clear Channel personality, that’s fine. Just don’t get personal. Please.
Remember: Joe’s free. He’d like to keep it that way.
Joe trusts you understand.
BTW, Joe is very upfront with who he does business with. All of Joe’s business relationships are on this page for all to see. Joe’s not hiding anything.
Thanks as always for your support.
April 15th, 2010 at 12:18 am
Joe I’m a big fan!! Now I would love for u to ask dominick if he’s gonna draft a couple widerecievers or is he just conent with the crappy recievers we have now the reason I ask is how in the world can u pass up a guy that can help freemen I mean he’s gonna get killed now!
April 15th, 2010 at 12:34 am
zech:
Thanks for your support!
Joe would like to know as well. Joe’s also certain there are 31 other general managers who would like to know Dominik’s plans.
April 15th, 2010 at 7:46 am
Appreciate you being upfront and honest Joe. Now if the Buc organization would do the same. I mean if the Glazers are truly in financial trouble they should just come clean. The fans would be 100% more supportive (IMO). But the actions don’t seem to support the claim. Personally I believe Dominik and Rah are just stop gaps until the CBA is in place and Dominiks marching orders are to try and not make any (more) mistakes and draft well. The next GM and coach will have free reign over FA’s but our core talent must come from the draft. Of course I’m about as confident Dominik will succeed as I was in their great plan of changing both offensive and defensive schemes last year. The Glazers have to have another plan(please God). I can’t believe the amount of screw ups that Dominik has made and keeps making would keep keep his job. This guy is just one big clusterf***.
