“This Dude Is An Absolute Freak Of Nature”
September 11th, 2021High-profile radio and TV love was on display for Vita Vea yesterday.
Vea didn’t make a play on Thursday night, but he played well. And given the widely held perception the Cowboys have a special offensive line, his manbeastly ways stood out to those less familiar with the Bucs.
One of those onlookers was Jim Rome of The Jim Rome Show.
Rome was all over Vea to start his chatter Friday on the Bucs’ dismantling Dallas. No, not Tom Brady or Gronk talk, it was Vea who led the show.
“This dude is an absolute freak of nature. In a league of athletic freaks, he is an outlier – 1 of 1,” Rome ranted.
“There is nobody like him because he was just bullying the Cowboys on the inside, ragdolling fools, bull-rushing them, treating grown-ass men like children.”
Rome suggested Vea is the nastiest defensive player in the NFL.
“No gloves. No braces. No tape. No nothing. Bare hands,” Rome barked. “And just mauling and embarrassing and humiliating guys. Again, like a grown-ass man throwing around and abusing a bunch of high schoolers. And when he’s not bullying guys on defense he’s trucking fools on offense and enabling his team to pick up key first downs.”
Joe’s glad Rome mentioned barehanded Vea. He’s previously played with a club and some wraps, but he’s back to being natural man, which is very cool.
And Rome also said what Bucco Bruce Arians has been thinking a lot about. “Let the big dude toto the rock himself.”
You can watch the full rant on YouTube here. Or just don’t waste the time and read something else on the home page.

Has Sapp given Vea his due yet?

Derrick Brooks told Pat Kirwan on Thursday that bucs need Vita Vea healthy all season if they wanna repeat (Pat asked Brooks “what player other than TB12 can the Bucs not afford to lose).

He’ll be franchised next year and then the follow year, he’ll be the highest paid NT.

Hold on a sec. Joe, leading up to this game every pundit was declaring the cowbirls o-line as not up to the task of taking on the Bucs D !
…… “And given the widely held perception the Cowboys have a special offensive line” was not the perception of Dallas’ line before Thursday night.
The spin has changed. Vea had a nice game, can’t say the same for the Bucs vaunted front 7 getting pressure on Dak. I don’t think we “dismantled Dallas” , we squeaked out with a win is more like it.

Vita “Mongo” Vea
September 11th, 2021 at 4:13 pm
Thinking Licht will sign him and franchise Ryan Jensen.

Mongo…like Mongo.

AlabamaBucsFan … Since Vea was a 1st Rnd pick, don’t we have a 5th year option? Assuming that’s the case (as it was with OJ) why franchise him? Save that for 2023 (and 2024 if the need arises).
September 11th, 2021 at 4:33 pm
Disrupting the offense is what a good defense does.
Vita Vea regardless of stats was extremely disruptive against the Cowboys.
Hopefully he can get into a little better shape and stay injury free.
September 11th, 2021 at 4:40 pm
I’m confused. Why are people talking about “Franchising” Vea next year?! We have his 5th year option already picked up
Franchise-ing him wouldn’t even be an option until the following year, am I wrong…

Vea is an ascending player. Dak did a good job of getting rid of the ball quickly and took some shots doing so. I dont see Matty Ice holding firm when Vea trucks his center into his grill next week. The dirty birds are the best remedy for working out some aggression and getting your team straight again.

Good take Joe. locking up Vea and finding a way to keep Brady’s center 1 more year is the way to go.
September 11th, 2021 at 5:04 pm
Just in keeping with the mystique, the first play of the game he should greet the opposing center with…
“Hey! How’d you like a nice hawaiian punch!”
Old commercial, some of you younger guys won’t get the connection.

The most valuable player on this team. Can’t say enough about Vea. His ability to play and move at that size is amazing. The leverage, gap control, balance, while consistently moving forward is amazing. Haloti Ngata level but even more freakish potential. All of this without mentioning his strength and power! Praying for a healthy season.

so you call pushing the ol in the qbs face not making a play?
September 11th, 2021 at 6:21 pm
Yes he put every Oline coach on our schedule this year on notice Thursday night.
September 11th, 2021 at 6:36 pm
Yeah, I love him, but Sapp sorta showed his ass dogging this guy. The whole premise is he isn’t a 4-3 DT, which yes Warren, we’re also not playing the 4-3.
September 11th, 2021 at 6:41 pm
There’s already been a mongo. I’d prefer to call him. “The mountain”.
September 11th, 2021 at 8:34 pm
Guy is freaking amazing. EVERY SINGLE PLAY the Pokes have to use two guys on him, and he STILL pushes them back

Buxszntkt
Their line was holding all game just they didn’t get caught as much
September 11th, 2021 at 10:21 pm
Again I ask, where was Suh? It’s unusual for Suh not making the same kind of impact.

Dude was held all night long. Refs just let the Dallas O-line get away with it. They never seem to miss a Bucs penalty though. Nothing new to us Bucs fan, but damn man, gotta call them every now and then.
