“If There’s One Flaw”
September 3rd, 2021How dare any Bucs fan even think about this!
And yes, Joe considers former Buccaneers quarterback and current NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms a Bucs fan.
Why? Because Simms openly says he roots for the Bucs. And to make Simms even more pro-Bucs, he was an assistant coach with the Belicheats when Tom Brady was there.
On Pro Football Talk this week, Simms notes that Brady is not perfect, even though Simms thinks the Bucs are primed for a monster season and the NFC South crown.
“If there’s one flaw he’s got, we know what it is. Can you get to him? Can you get there? Can you get around him? I mean almost every turnover and interception he had last year had to do with people around him, he didn’t want to take the hit, let me get the ball out,” Simms said.
“And I don’t know if Dallas’ defensive line is ready for that, you know, not now. And you can’t overly blitz Brady. … It’s going to take a special team this year to knock [the Bucs] off the perch.”
Simms went on to say this is the first time in a handful of years that the NFC has a massive powerhouse team.
Co-host Mike Florio agreed and said the 2021 Bucs feel like the 2014 Seahawks coming off their Super Bowl win as a well-balanced juggernaut. That Seattle team lost to Brady in Super Bowl.

The problem is Brady will make you pay for blitzing and being shorthanded .

As long as Bucs give Donovan Smith lots of help, we’ll be fine. On every passing play Smith needs: a RB, TE & extra Lineman helping him or we’re SCREWED

That’s bs Pete

Ahh nothing like a Friday afternoon Medicated Pete giving his unsolicited, medicated football advice about something he knows nothing about. LOL Where’s the popcorn, Joe? #clown

Simms took the hit. Once in the car in Manhattan. And once against Seattle when they eviscerated his spleen. He was a tough player. No doubt.

The Bucs had a lot of success with max protect last year. Max protect is also a good line up for the run game.
Long drives with 2TE sets can wear down defenders and neutralize a pass rush.
Expect a lot of this style of offense in the first half.

This is not news. This applies to ALL QBs. It just happens that we have the best behind center and we need to protect him.

The good thing about medicated Pete, and I’m being generous here, is that he comes in, trolls, and then typically leaves and doesn’t come back for a while. Other JBF trolls please take note.
September 3rd, 2021 at 12:44 pm
If you get to any QB it causes problems this take is so stale. Why are mobile QBs sack more than others????????? Don’t believe me go check!!!! Don’t matter the year.
September 3rd, 2021 at 12:45 pm
Ryen Russillo just told Colin Cowherd that LA is the big NFC threat to the Bucs because of how good Matthew Stafford has been against pressure. Interesting. Week 3 may be the big game, not Week 4.

Also…Medicated Pete has short posts….doesn’t take a lot of words to make his point….actually, I kind of like his input….
As for Brady & pressure……Joe…take note….this is exactly why they brought in Gio Bernard…..great protection & pass catching back….a Brady option instead of throwing it into the ground..
And right…every QB turns the ball over more when pressured.

Pete ain’t wrong on that one. Smith is the weakest link on the line and gives up sacks more than anyone. You guys are hating on him for telling the truth?
September 3rd, 2021 at 1:42 pm
Smith had his best year in ’20 and he is one of the most important players going into this year. Other than Brady his heath is the most important. Great LTs are rare. Bucs Fans should appreciate Smith more.
September 3rd, 2021 at 1:45 pm
That Seattle team lost because they didn’t hand off to Marshawn.
September 3rd, 2021 at 2:03 pm
Yah mahommes did so well when we got after him
Like saying if you caught off a qbs throwing arm his completion percentage will go down
September 3rd, 2021 at 3:07 pm
I was amongst the move Smith to G crowd, he has played much better since Brady showed up, imagine that…
Health along the O & D line is the key to Back to Back IMO

Gotta hand it to BA, TB and the Bucs! What a metaphor for our society ! They want to accomplish something great and decided as a group they will all get vaccinated for the betterment of the group !!
Enviable loyal response Bucs, what an example you guys have set.
Appreciate you LF7, take if for the team !

That Seattle team would have been foolish to hand the ball to any back on that particular play as the Patriots had 5 defensive tackles two defensive ends and 1 middle linebacker crowding the line of scrimmage. The 3 corners they had on the field were to counter 3 Seattle receivers so it was completely 1 on 1 coverage with no help. Also that season 66 passes were attempted from the 1 yard line and none of them were intercepted until that play. There was nothing wrong with the play call just some poor execution and a legendary play by Malcolm Butler and Brandon browner who jammed his guy at the line allowing butler a path to the ball.

Seattle would have been foolish to run the ball? Get this dude out of the club man!!

The two INT’s by Brady that were turned for a TD were because Justin Watson is a pitiful NFL talent who shouldn’t be on an NFL field. It’s the same Justin Watson who caused two INT’s that Winston threw at the end of the 2019 season when he pulled up on a route and fell down, rounded off a route and also tripped over his own feet in the endzone on what should have been a certain go-ahead touchdown. Thankfully he joins the likes of Chris Conte and Ryan Smith, never to see the TB roster again.

F Simms, Brady has taken many hits, his philosophy is the same one Manning had, live to play another game. When it comes to playoff time Brady will do whatever it takes to move on. Simms is another wannabe living off his daddy’s name. Next analyst trying to figure out how to ge to Brady? 20 seasons and.one missed should tell you he knows what he’s doing. Ask Simms to analyze the shot he took around his own goaline near the end of SB with Atlanta and the body slam Donald laid on him in the Rams SB. End result VICTORY!!!

The only things that could really derail this Bucs season are: injuries and/or side effects from the vaccines (like the well-documented bloodclots andheart inflammation)…
Hopefully, we can prevail over all..
September 3rd, 2021 at 6:38 pm
Don’t think you make it to and win the super bowl with a weak left tackle. He may not be the best but sure isn’t the worst. Pretty solid in pass protection. Not big time run blocker. Not sure the bucs line is superior at run blocking. OK but not superior. They are above average on pass blocking. But don’t overwhelm most teams with their run blocking. Most of the time Brady only needs 2

I wish they would lay off calling them a “powerhouse team” that’s going to roll through the NFC.
They had a lot of close games, their young Defense is still learning, and the Packers and the Rams are going to be damn good.
That said I love how they say – if there’s pressure on the quarterback, that’s a flaw. That’s not flaw!! That’s great defense and is a downfall of every single quarterback in the history of football

Dude. You obviously don’t know that Chris Simms threw an absolutely beautiful ball. The guy ran one into the endzone didn’t slide and got hit so hard his spleen burst. He got up holding his midsection. Continued to play! Finished the game and played well. At the time he played with an average offense at best.
That guy definitely left it all on the field. Chris Simms threw like Drew Breeze. Just effortless. And more than 15yds.

Rod…. Justin Watson is on IR and still technically part of our NFL roster… your take on his WR skills might be spot on but if there is an injury to our WRs, Watson will likely be the first in line to replace him. He’s a plus special team player.

The spleen game was against Carolina, Gruden got a lot of heat for that.

Hey Webster I really like how you refuted my argument point by point by providing solid reasons as to why I am incorrect. You are a smart cookie
