Rob Gronkowski Stoked For Packed House Thursday

You believe the NFL season begins in less than a week? Believe it!
It’s starting to get real. Game week, baby! Thursday night the Bucs open the season hosting the Cowboys and one guy is almost as geeked as Bucs fans.
That’s foot-rubbing, car-littering tight end Rob Gronkowski. Gronk appeared on “Good Morning Football” earlier today and said maybe the coolest thing about opening the season is the fact that for the first time as a Bucs player, the game is a full sellout.
Gronk talked about how crazy Bucs fans are and he said it should be an “electric” night Thursday when fans gather to celebrate the world champions.

Some of my friends up in Detroit and out in Seattle remind me that this area does not deserve all our successful sports teams.
Both Seattle and Detroit are are real sports towns, compared to Tampa.
We do support the Lightning, but for many years our stands had as many or more fans of the opposing team in them.
The Rays are lighting up Baseball, yet no one goes to see them.
I sure HOPE that we will start selling out our stadium with our Fans, for a change.
A good friend of mine from Seattle came to see me, and we went to a Bucs game.
Seattle Fans are LOUD, all the time.
He remarked how stupid our cheer was, where one side of the stadium chants “Tampa”, then the other side of the Stadium chants “Bay”. IMHO, he is right, this is a stupid cheer because it shuts off the noise of one side of the stadium. The Stadium in Seattle is Loud, all the time.
Another problem we have is, some people who live here are still rooting for their old team, despite the fact they live here, and have lived here for awhile.
Hopefully, because we are Super Bowl Champions, these same people will hop on the bandwagon.

I really hope we unleash it and embarrass that team. In front of a sold out home crowd with more Bucs fans than Cowboys fans. And then the weekend to relax and watch the rest of the games. Great way to start the season. Now all that’s left to do is focus and finish.

The Tampa/Bay Cheer is typically done only once or twice a game. I think it’s unfair of your friend to assume that’s the way we cheer the rest of the game. Thursday night will provide full evidence of that.

Sorry Chris, but your Seattle friends are morons. They have ONE loud team, in a stadium that makes a loud crowd louder. They just got pro hockey, so their back to back Cup wins may come in 2070 and you never heard about the classic ambiance or a Mariners game even with their summer weather. Seattle is not even a top 20 sports town.
Detroit is living on the past, like most of the old factory towns. Fans of a team that wasted the careers of MegatroN AND Barry Sanders should be quiet.

Eh chris I disagree the lightning have been supported for a long time. Rays issue has been location and ownership pissing away any bit of good will they have.
Raymond James has been empty because no one wanted to pay hundreds of dollars to spend 3 hours in 100 degree weather to watch offensive turnovers and bad defenses. The lightning have been solidly supported for the last decade.

So in descending order
A great team with great ownership that plays inside in a well air conditioned arena? Check.
A now great team with arguably great ownership (or at least good) playing the most popular sport in America in one of the better stadiums in the league? Check.
A great team with questionable ownership playing money ball, quite successfully, in a poorly regarded stadium in an industrial part of St Pete? Not working.
The constants seem to be a mixture of great teams (very helpful) with good ownership in a desirable location. The fact that baseball hasn’t been America’s past time, if that’s seen to mean the most popular sport, for some time, combined with the fact that not many people seem to like the Trop, though I actually don’t mind it, seems to yield the results we’ve seen.

As a season ticket holder that travels from Virginia, it was always demoralizing seeing all the opposing jerseys in the stands. Then on the way out of the stadium they were usually singing their fight songs because we lost…really looking forward to Thursday night! The last time I was in the stadium we were celebrating a SB victory! LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Gronks biggest asset to the team is his run and pass blocking. When Brady started keeping him in to pass block, things turned around. He’s not the receiver he once was, but is still capable and dangerous if you ignore him. Y’all are right, they’re going to destroy America’s team. My hatred for the cowboys runs deep, and I never get tired of seeing them self destruct. Dak is as overrated as they come. I saw him quit against the Patriots in person. Don’t get the fascination.

Yeah, I think your friends are sour losers. The Tampa Bay cheer is great. As someone who’s been a fan since ’76 and attended his first game in ’80, there’s nothing like hearing that “BAY!!!!” wave of noise coming across the stadium.
As far as fan support, we still have the worst winning percentage in pro sports. I certainly can’t blame people for not wanting to pay to see the product that the Bucs usually put on the field. I don’t think Seattle would pack the house every year is they had our history.
It has been sad to see such low attendance, especially compared to the brief glory years, but for such a historically bad team I think we’ve got a great core of fans.

The Redskins had the most loyal/crazy fan base in football……. until they sucked for years on end, then the place was empty. Same thing went on with GB in the early 80s. Few teams an have extended string of bad years and retain FULL fan support. The Bucs had 35 to 45 k in the stands despite being TERRIBLE, all things considered they had great support.

Mike, FedEx Field is terrible. With the exception of that agonizing Kirk cousins you like that? Game, we’ve owned that place. I’ll be there in November as well. Hope we curb stomp them.

Chris no one has been going to Pistons, Tigers, or Wings games for years and Pistons and Wings have the new arena. Lol I grew up there, huge fair weather fans in Detroit. Seattle lost their NBA team and now just getting a hockey team.

Typically, the Detroit Lions attendance has been in the bottom third of the league for the last decade. Probably longer.
In Seattle, they do have a good fan base. Kudos to the owners for creating the environment.. However, in Seattle, like Detroit and Buffalo, 15%.. perhaps higher are shipped in from across the border (Canada).
No matter what city you are in, Americans love winners.. Winning cures a lot of things.

Seriously Seattle? Other than Wilson, Adam’s, DK and Wagner they got NOTHING! Last I checked it takes 22 players to win a game. Seattle goes 10-7 this year and loses first playoff round. Detroit just sucks and with the loss of Stafford will continue to suck. The only non Tampa shirts you will see is Rod Munch and Oneilbucyall wearing New Orleans shirts when Jamais comes to town.

What I used to hate was seeing so many Bucs fans just hanging out around the concourse while the game still had a lot left to play. Most of our fans(the ones not on the concourse) would just sit on their hands during a game anyways. Not me of course. I come out of there with no voice. Hands all red from beating on the empty seat in front of me. Loss after loss. Being…a Bucs fan.
