Jim Nantz Expects To Call Multiple Bucs’ Games

Last year the No. 1 FOX NFL broadcast crew Joe Buck and Troy Aikman did its share of Bucs games. That’s what happens when Tom Brady is your quarterback and your roster is full of household name stars people gravitate to.
Now the last time the Bucs played, a streaker crossed the goal line more than the Chiefs offense. And behind the mic in the Bucs’ Super Bowl win was Jim Nantz and former Eastern Illinois quarterback Tony Romo. That was because it was a CBS broadcast and the duo are the top team for CBS.
Hopefully, the good luck the two brought the Bucs in February continues this season. In a conference call Nantz participated in this week, he mentioned he thought he and Romo would be calling three Bucs regular season games.
Those games would be: Oct. 10 vs. the Dolphins, Sept. 24 vs. the Bears and Dec. 12 vs. the Bills. Naturally, these assignments are subject to change.
No, Joe has no idea how many Bucs games Buck and Aikman will call. It is a safe bet it will be as many as Nantz and Romo.e
Presumably, Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth will call three Bucs games as Tampa Bay is scheduled for two Sunday night kickoffs on NBC and the season-opener (barring a flexed out of the Sunday night window). Michaels (who turns 77 in November) doesn’t do every Sunday night game any longer so it could be Mike Tirico instead.

If you remember after the bomb before half, we kicked off to them and whitehead puts his shoulder pad right on the ball of green bay aaron jones. White picks up ball and returns a few yards. Next play – td to brate
Those were final daggers as brady did not have good second half from there.

The only problem with listening to the homer radio while watching the game is the 2-4 second lag.
I can’t chat with my Buc Bros during games because their TV broadcast is 5-10+ seconds ahead of my streaming broadcast. They know what happens first.

MG, listen to radio broadcasts of the Bolts with Mishkin and Esposito, all Espo does is slag the refs. It’s great. Go Bucs!!! 7 days!

Hey Big Dust and Doosh, ya had to love “Mr Matriculate” Hank Stram back in the day as he called the preseason on WTOG for what seemed an eternity and the Bucs did send him into retirement as a coach in 1977 as well for their numero uno win as a franchise. I am also sure you remember those days when Terry Bradshaw was a game analyst alongside Vern Lundquist and a few others on CBS and got to cover the Bucs as part of what had to be the D or E broadcast team against someone like the Lions or the pre-Favre Packers in games which matched some amazingly bad teams. Terry used to make quite “intelligent” observations like: “These two 2 and 8 teams are not very good and boy do these Lion fans love their head coach Daryl Rogers” as the few Lion fans in the Silverdome booed their team and mocked their head coach loud enough to be heard over Terry and Vern. Yep ya had to love those Creamsicle days and some of those bottom feeding broadcast teams.

I prefer Romo, he has the best eye is the best analyst among all the talking heads by far. Second place goes to Cris Collinsworth, but only because Al Michaels is there to tone him down a notch. Though Collinsworth is a somewhat distant second to Romo, his smarmy arrogance just grates on me.

Tangential question: Why would CBS be covering the Bucs-Bears game? Doesn’t FOX have an exclusive on all games between NFC teams?

I like Nantz and Romo, but the last quarter of that Super Bowl broadcast made Dennis Miller sound like Howard Cossell. That was just a terrible bunch of sports bar rambling. Unlistenable.

Romo was Nostradamus for a little while and that was pretty cool, but then he just started being wrong a lot and more irritating.
Give me Jim Nantz and some Steely Dan anyday!
