“No Pouting. No Nothing”
August 26th, 2021Word choice can tell quite a story.
Buccaneers assistant head coach Harold Goodwin is a fast-talking and refreshing straight shooter.
Today he was asked about Leonard “Playoff Lenny” Fournette and how he’s been this summer.
Goodwin was quick to say that after Fournette had his well-documented sitdown with Bucco Bruce Arians around the time he was benched in Week 14 last year, “He’s been a different person. He’s been focused every day.”
The pictured painted was that of a new and consistent Fournette, versus what the Bucs got before mid-December of 2020.
“No pouting, no nothing. So he’s been a pleasure,” Goodwin said of Playoff Lenny. “I like the way he’s grown up. Because at the end of the day, we got so many good players on this team at any position, so you just got to fit in where you can get in. And he’s done that.”
Telling stuff from Goodwin. And it’s just more evidence of the magical job Arians did managing that situation last year.

The fact he brought up the word pouting is telling in itself. Wait until week 5 when he is #2 behind RoJo and Gio is taking all his 3rd down snaps.

I truly believe Fournette is going to have a big year, a special year for us. He’s locked in and motivated, on a one year contract, and really seems to love playing for Brady and BA.
I’m a buyer of Fournette bc he’s so darn talented. He’s Alstott to Gio’s Warrick Dunn.
I also love Fournette’s size, athleticism and overall physicality. Just give him 2-3 steps and he’s off and running.

Media is making a big deal about who the starting RB will be. The reality is both players are going to get a whole lot of touches in the run game.
August 26th, 2021 at 5:46 pm
I’d much prefer rojo and fournette get about 800 yards each over 17 games and Gio has 50+ catches – that means we are in complete control on O and are going to win most games…the WR stats will be down, but if we control the ball and use play action effectively as we did all playoffs, we won’t need TB12 throwing 40 times a game

Last season was the first time in Playoff Lenny’s life that he wasn’t “The Man” on a football team. I suspect that transition wasn’t easy on him. Just saying.

Jason
No doubt about that. Not just pros/college/ high school/ pee-wee football
Im sure he was always that dominant guy
August 26th, 2021 at 6:17 pm
I have no problem with him. Would take some time to adjust from the fact you are the biggest and best football player on the field, and the envy of all, to another cog in a football juggernaut. Being cast off, and designated the number 2 RB. Kind of strange territory for him. Who might not have problems with that?
But he has grown up. Congratulations young man. And stay positive.

” we got so many good players on this team at any position, so you just got to fit in where you can get in.”
……….
That is a Grown Man’s talk.

Good perspective Jason

He is not vaccinated tho Mark2001

At the end of the day…….
I get really sick of hearing “at the end of the day” constantly used by players and now, coaches.
Find something new will you?

I hope LF picks up where playoff Lenny was. If not, the Bucs have contingency plans. Go Bucs!!! Two weeks from today baby!!!!!
August 26th, 2021 at 8:14 pm
SB..He wasn’t originally. Don’t know his status now? Do you know him personally?
August 26th, 2021 at 8:26 pm
Believe it when I see it.
August 26th, 2021 at 8:30 pm
I just hopes he gets vaccinated. Would hate to lose a game because the Bucs are not vaccinated…
August 26th, 2021 at 8:31 pm
Lenny took advantage of Rojo’s injury but rojo is still the man. Much more explosive runner and with a designated 3rd down back, there won’t be many reps to go around with all the receiving targets we have

Buc4ever
So you feel comfortable google washington post article on titans covid outbreak. Pretty sure you cant call them conspiracy anything Their GM Robinson said the team is 98 percent vaccinated. Almost 100 percent. You know Robison. Why would he lie about it.
The big names they released are vrBel and tannehill. They are fully vaccinated
They have 9 players / coaches cause of covid or contact w covid people
Pretty sure they all are vaccinated And there is an outbreak
August 26th, 2021 at 10:08 pm
Bird…the rules and penalties are different regarding game forfeiture and lose of funds/income if the outbreak is triggered by vaccinated player/s, or if he or they is/are unvaccinated. That isn’t very comforting…but it is something important.
August 26th, 2021 at 11:42 pm
Exactly mark 2001, if a game can’t be rescheduled due to COVID outbreak caused by an unvaccinated player, the team forfeits the game and all players on both teams don’t get paid that week. Like I said would hate to have to forfeit a game.

Winning, also helps with the “growing”.

I would imagine having the college success Fournette had and his initial signing $ may have swollen that head up a little and then being cut by the Jags probably put a huge chip on his shoulder as I’m sure it would with most at a young age having all the glory in college then being cut. So BA sitting him down and painting a successful high road to take and the benefits that it would include opposed to keeping a chip on his shoulder and watching the game from the sidelines or even from his couch. We the Bucs & fans are fortunate to have a lot of wisdom within our bunch too so that the younger ones can have that to tap in on. That’s what make dynasty teams as the Pats were and we the Bucs organization has more now if we can keep that together and build that same wisdom year after year.

This is 2021 not 1985 football, 17 grueling games just to get to the playoffs, starting quality running backs will get plenty of punishment, errr carries, before the real run for glory begins.
August 27th, 2021 at 8:44 am
Rojo the better pure runner & also his hands have gotten better then Leonard’s, with gio getting 3rd downs won’t be a place for Lenny … he’ll be pouting by week 4. Rojo will get the new contract here not Lenny book it
GoBucs!

Fourette is a Beast of a Running back.
Talent wise, he starts on 27 teams in the league.
So glad he’s a Buc. He was a huge difference maker in the playoffs- when we needed him most!
So glad he’s a Buc!
Id rotate starts, RoJo week one, Lenny week 2, etc.
Keep’em fresh- yet both are still starters.

Coaching experience matters and that has helped us in many ways.
Who was the coach who errantly decided to kick a field goal in the NFC Championship Game and essentially tossed any realistic chance of going to the Super Bowl? A second year head coach.
LaFleur is obviously a great coach, but experience showed it’s head that day.

BA4. Frankly, if his Packer D could have made one stop, they could have won that game with a Touchdown.
They were between a rock and a hard place, no matter how you look at it. Had they failed the 2 conversion, they would have been in exactly in the same spot, having to stop the Bucs. And if they had gotten the 8 points, they still had to stop Brady and a Succop FG, and hope they could pull it out in overtime. And Succop last year was money.
Not saying it was the right coaching decision. But their choice was the rock and the hard place.

I pity the fool who believes anything an NFL coach has to say.
