Tom Brady, 44, 2021 MVP?
August 25th, 2021This is difficult for Joe to wrap his head around, but this is the reality of having Tom Brady as your quarterback.
This Brady is sort of like Superman. No human at 43 should be playing in the NFL much less dominating and nearly single-handedly turning around one of the most moribund franchises the NFL has seen.
The lowly Bucs were like a punch line in a famous Bobby Bowden story. “When I was at West Virginia, the bumper stickers read ‘Beat Pitt.’ When I got to Florida State, the bumper stickers read ‘Beat Anybody.'”
Garrett Podell of NFL.com is of the mind that Brady might one-up himself this fall and has a shot to win NFL MVP.
Why does Podell say that? Well, he points out that players under their second year with a new coach often win the NFL MVP. And guess who is in his second year with Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians?
Yup. Brady.
There is good reason to believe Brady did not hit his Tampa Bay ceiling in his first season with the Buccaneers. In his first 12 games, he threw 28 passing touchdowns and 11 interceptions, while Tampa started 7-5. After 20 years in New England, Brady presumably needed time to adjust to a new scheme and setting, and he was apparently able to make himself more comfortable — because from Week 14 on, Brady threw for 22 TDs against just four picks, while the Bucs won eight straight en route to capturing the Lombardi Trophy. Brady finished the regular season in the top three in passing yards (4,633) and passing TDs (40) despite playing with an MCL tear reportedly suffered in 2019. With Tampa returning all 22 starters and Brady now having a full year in Bruce Arians’ system under his belt, 2021 could be even better for the 44-year-old QB than his outstanding 2020.
How wild is it that a 44-year old is considered a front-runner for league MVP? That’s just crazy.
So Brady may have a higher “ceiling” than what he had at 43 when he was in a Super Bowl?
Damn, we are living charmed lives as Bucs fans right now.

I put 50 bucks on him. Would turn into 750 bucks.
Go Bucs!
Tom Brady: “The God-King of Ireland and America.”

I put $50 on 17-0, would turn into $2500. (can that last part change later on?)

Hey joes
I forgot to bring up in your article yesterday. The one with arians mic’d up and its at the end where he goes to someone(maybe a practice ref) and says can you believe he is still throwing it like that (at his age)
You got to see brady up close all offseason and we have not really see much action in games so far (preseason one series)
Can he still fling it at 44? Sure. –Joe
Any issues with his fast ball/ deep ball?

I just hope for good healthy players throughout the season and we know the talent is there if we can stay away from any type of super bowl stars hangover attitudes that I’m pretty sure Brady wouldn’t allow, he seems to be quick on talking with fellow teammates in a way to get the best out of them.

Not bad for a guy that was beat out by Roger’s, Wilson and Murray as a pro bowl selection.

The pro bowl is a joke has been for a while. Guys make it as 3rd and 4th alternates then get labeled a pro bowler forever smh head. Then are never a pro bowler again pro bowl means nothing.

No.
Brady may not be able to wing it 60 yards downfield like Mahomes or Jameis or Josh Allen but he still has the arm just fine.
(FYI, Joe wrote about that Arians video yesterday.)

INTERESTING STATS
TD:INT = Win%
5:1 = 100%
2.5:1 = 58%
1:1= 44% (Mr. 30:30)
So every +1TD:Int = 7% increase in Win%

The Pro Bowl shouldn’t be a joke anymore because these kids salaries are about to be dependent on it.
