Lots Of Special Teams Still Planned For Joe Tryon

Joe’s draft-night cringing will continue.
When Joe Tryon was drafted No. 32 overall as a potential manbeast edge rusher in the Jason Pierre-Paul mode, his new head coach said he would be a special teams warrior. Bucco Bruce Arians was fired up to see his athletic young prize perform on fourth.
Since then, Tryon has been very impressive in practice and his performance in two preseason games shows he is loaded with pass-rush talent. So would the Bucs still stay committed to playing Tryon on special teams and risking him getting injured there?
Joe asked Arians that today, and he fired back that absolutely would be a fixture on fourth down.
Arians noted that the Seattle Seahawks play all their starters on special teams and other teams use starters on special teams.
That’s nice, but Joe doesn’t care about other teams. The Rams don’t play starters in preseason, for example. There’s also a reason Antonio Brown isn’t returning punts when he’s the team’s best punt returner.
Joe will continue to ask the football gods to spare Tryon and not let him become the next Jacquies Smith, the young and successful Bucs pass rusher whose career was torched when he blew his knee out covering a kickoff in 2016.

Arians bad decisions will be exposed this season. Brady can only cover Bruce’s ass for so long.

I’d prefer not to see Tryon on special teams, or in the current case, the not-so-special teams. It isn’t the talent, it’s the coaching that’s a problem.

it’s go for broke this year, literally. BTW , we have now seen how bad our special teams are , they needs something (someone) to provide some competence.

Ronde played special teams basically his entire career. No reason Tryon needs the kid gloves treatment.

Must be great being Arians. He is a superbowl coach who, since he got here has done nothing but drive around in his golf cart talkin smack. I guess when Brady leaves, so does Arians. Can’t blame him though. Ride the wave Brucey boy..Ride It.

So a future star who will be a rotational player for now should be sitting on the bench getting splinters on his arse? I say bs! Get him on the field as often as possible. Heck, give him some practice at tight end! A lead blocker for punt returners. Anywhere where his size, speed and talent fits.

Joe, the best players should play about 10 snaps on the key periods of the game. Just don’t play the starters at the punt or kick returner. Other positions have no different risk of injury compared to the defense.

I was so angry when I saw Jaq Smith out there on special teams that year…
And then in a turn of events that surprised absolutely no one (except the inept coaching staff), he got badly injured on ST, and never played again.

Special teams looks scary terrible and the running game looks uninspired the scheme still looks so easily predictable good thing we have a fantastic pass game and Brady.

Looks to me like Bucs’ special teams can use all the quality talent they can get. Tryon’s a rookie & not a starter. The more game experience he gets the better he’ll become.

His name is Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. Not sure why JBF refuses to call him by his name. One would think he gets to decide what his name is.

How much football has this guy played in the last couple of years? Not much, put him out there and let him play and actually get some kind of NFL game experience.
He is going to be used by T Bowles in different packages throughout the season. And you know as he shows he can handle it, T Bowles will use him more and more.
Hopefully he progresses like everyone would like to see and he becomes a dominant force on Defense.
So again, get him on the field let the guy play.

I still have the visual of smith’s injury on that kick off. Zero reason for our only good pass rusher at the time to be out there for special teams. Couldn’t believe it. Lol
