“We’ll Probably Play More In That Game Than Any”

August 16th, 2021

Alex Cappa & Ali Marpet

Bucco Bruce Arians has firm plans for his Bucs just 12 days before the season opener against Dallas.

Arians said after practice today that he expects to play lots of starters in the preseason finale at Houston on Aug. 28.

“We’ll probably play more in that game than any,” Arians said.

Man, that seems surprising but it’s very much old school Arians. He said his team won’t want to keep hitting each other and they’ve got “two weeks off,” so top players will play.

Hopefully, there’s a bizarre weather event in Houston that night and it leads Arians to change his mind.

Sorry, but Joe can’t celebrate risking injuries to the returning beasts of the Bucs’ Super Bowl run.

Trask was impressive. I would love to see what he does with some of our starters.
Doubt they will risk Brady, for long.

  2. DaBux Says:

I would let the boys hit. We are deep enough to take chances in a few positions. They need to get into game shape and mindset. Soft is something we do not nor can afford this season.

By playing more…..that may mean a quarter….I doubt on a short week our players play much…

As for Trask…..I was also impressed….he’s huge….moved in the pocket a couple of times….has a nice touch on his passes……can go deep…..no problem with his arm….and he looked fairly poised……his receivers didn’t catch the ball.

    More Tryon and Trask …

Tryon needs to learn how to play the run and sack without drawing a flag

Trask needs to throw to WRs who can complete a catch

    Agree Joe

  6. Capt.Tim Says:

I agree Joe. Our Vets know how to play, how to stay in shape.
Most of them are the best of the best.
Why risk Brady to some rookie, with something to prove?
Want JPP to get caught in a rollup?
Carlton Davis to get an upper ankle sprain?
That derails the SuperBowl TRAIN REALLY FAST.

Last year-no training camp or preseason to speak of- and we stayed healthy, and were strong thru week 19.

Old school coaches believe being out if shape gets you hurt.
    Nope
Rookies get hurt if they are out of shape.
Veterans get hurt when they are TIRED.
I think the facts prove me right.
    Prove me wrong.

  7. Duane Says:

He is only saying he is playing the starters. Not for how long. I agree , from a risk management standpoint, why take a chance? Even professionals need live action reps to get ready.

  8. QB whisperer Says:

Do professionals need live reps before the start of the season? Iโ€™m not sure thatโ€™s an easily answered question. If I had to guess, I think it would be best to play in live action to get some feel for the speed of the game I may be wrong, but nobody made me the Bucs coach or Bucs brain trust, so Iโ€™ll leave the decision to others. Guys on this site think they know, but do they really? I kinda doubt it.

  9. ModHairKen Says:

Look, injuries happen. Remember Paris Warren? Monster preseason game and then suffered career ending injury. That sucked.

But they are rare and the players need game time.

No risk it, no biscuit. Right?

    They better be “Dallas ready”…๐Ÿคญ

Don’t risk TB. Remember he got sack Sat. night.
