Michael Irvin Thinks Cowboys Are Hiding Major Injury To Dak Prescott

August 14th, 2021

Senses coverup.

Joe is taking a break from preparing you for make-believe football played by future Chick-fil-A managers, high school history teachers and Amazon delivery drivers to pass along fears about the Bucs’ real football, season-opening opponent.

Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott missed much of last year with a re-arranged ankle. And former Cowboys Hall of Famer Michael Irvin fears Prescott’s got a badly mangled throwing shoulder.

Additionally, Irvin is of the mind the Cowboys are hiding the injury from the Bucs and the rest of the NFL,  including Prescott’s own teammates.

It was learned this week that Prescott was scheduled for a second MRI on his throwing shoulder. And Irvin, on his podcast, per TMZ, seems to smell a coverup.

“Oh no, oh no,” Irvin claims he said to himself watching Prescott at Cowboys practice. “There’s something bigger going on here that they’re not telling you.”

But why would Jerry Jones and the Cowboys try to hide a shoulder injury to their star quarterback if he cannot throw? Start getting your backup as prepared as he can be?

Irvin said because the team will mentally crumble if they believe the Cowboys will start the season with Prescott on the shelf.

“The worst thing in the world, right now, is to have everybody in camp saying, ‘Oh, no, we’re going to have to play this season without Dak,'” Irvin said. “Or, ‘We’re going to have to miss a considerable amount of time without Dak.'”

What tipped Irvin off that Prescott might have a significant injury?

Irvin said when he watched Prescott take snaps on the side in shotgun, Prescott wouldn’t use his throwing arm to return the ball back to the center.

“When I was there at camp, he was throwing the ball back to the guy that was snapping it to him with his left hand,” Irvin said.

“It only takes that little wave with the right hand to throw the ball two yards, and I was like, ‘Oh, no. Oh, no.'”

Added Irvin, “You don’t stay out this long with something this minor at that position when you had all of last year off.”

Joe has the sense if Prescott cannot play against the Bucs in less than a month, Sept. 9, the Bucs defense is going to eat the Cowboys alive.

I gave 10 points to my Cowboy-fan friend in Texas- my bet’s looking pretty solid

  2. Beeej Says:

Sounds like a Micheal Thomas kind of thing

  3. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

Irvin makes a good point. This was supposed to be a slight strain. Too bad if its true. I would like to see what the Bucs D does against a very good QB and a very talented offense.

No matter, other teams we thought might be fairly easier targets will step up. Like that Patriots. Mac Jones looked pretty darn good the other night. That is a game that looks like it might get more interesting.

  4. SOEbuc Says:

Like the Chiefs, another excuse for natty’s and Cowboys fans to cry about how they lost because of their injured players.

  5. Bird Says:

I understand where he is coming from

    But

He may have strict orders from team doctors not to use his throwing shoulder in any capacity. Even a two yard pass. They just paid him big bucks so i am sure he is listening.

Similar comparison to players told to wear a boot during week and they end up playing sunday. They dont want any pressure / strain of specific body part so it can heal.

Plus isnt irving part of the organization really ? He is one of their talking heads. Maybe organization got him to put out “some information.” I think Dak plays. I want to play Dak honestly. Cant stand the cowboys who come to our stadium And look like the home team at times.

  6. DaBux Says:

Garret Gilbert is the back up? Who the heck is that?

  7. Medicated Pete Says:

Cowboys starting DT left the game writhing in agony last night.

  8. BA4President Says:

In Bucs opponents news, I’m dying to see how the Saints QB situation plays out. Joe, keep us informed if you get any info outside of what we see in the preseason statlines!

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Bring Dak on, healthy…….if Bucs are contenders for SB….he should be no problem. Better to beat Cowboys that way…..more demoralizing for them.

  10. SOEbuc Says:

Already seeing in the preseason games. They’re back to ruining the game with these roughing the passer penalties. Save everybody a lot of trouble and put all the QBs in creamsicle jerseys every Sunday.

  11. Steven007 Says:

Rather have Dak healthy too. He’ll be limited regardless coming off of ankle surgery and the obvious rust. No matter who’s in there their emphasis early in the season particularly will be running the ball. Good luck with that.

  12. DFW Buc Fan Says:

The Bucs used to talk about a curse of the kickers. Ever since JJ left the Cowgirls they have a curse that runs throughout the organization. Sorry Cowboy fans not sure what it will take to break that curse. I know I am enjoying it!

  13. Winny Testaverde Says:

Hard for me to fathom why the Cowboys paid Dak sticker price plus following the leg injury. As it turns out…both Fields & Jones were on the board when Dallas traded down one spot to Philly. Like Davey Jones Locker, Jerry Jones may be cursed until his ultimate dirt nap.

  14. PassingThru Says:

    I’m not buying it.

Dak spent about 20 minutes throwing to receivers prior to last night’s game.

  15. Alanbucsfan Says:

Sorry Cowboy fans not sure what it will take to break that curse.
    – When Jerry Jones stops being involved with football decisions

  16. Denny Gay Says:

I have never seen or heard or read about a more overrated QB/franchise more than this Cowboy team and its QB If this is because of Hard Knocks, then please – remove this show from the world… I play a prediction game with myself when I turn to the NFL Channel – what are the chances of some fool talking about the Cowboys? It usually is around 90%.. That’s no exaggeration. I pray the Bucs just rip this team apart. Dak or no Dak. Super Overrated.

  17. Mike Says:

We already know this is a different type of injury because the cowboys have been consulting with baseball teams

  18. Anonymous Says:

The only way the Cowboys win is if the Bucs play in cruise control. The only way to make the Bucs complacent on a night when the banner drops and the world is watching will be to have them thinking there is no threat from Dallas. This could just be smoke and mirrors. Let’s not read to much into Irvin’s comments because he has been known to blow his fair share of smoke.

  19. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Mike’s high on Grecian Formula.

  20. firethecannons Says:

Honestly Devin White and rest of gang wouldeat this team/offense alive even with fully healthy Dak. Not too worried here.

  21. mg Says:

Sounds like the cowboys better saddle up.

  22. Buczilla Says:

The cowboys front office, i.e. Jerry and his giant, alien headed kid are beyond pathetic when it comes to evaluating talent. Treating and paying good talent like Dak, Elliott, and Cooper like superstars has doomed this team for at least the next three years. We’re crushing this horrible team regardless of who is at quarterback. The cowboys are exhibit A of how not to run a franchise and make the wft look like the niners of the eighties. I almost feel bad for their obnoxious fans. 😋

  23. View from 132 Says:

The Bucs defenses – even in great years – have a bad habit of making mediocre backups look like world beaters. I’d rather see a focused and fired up D face a rusty Dak than an overconfident team get Heinecked (whatever the Washington QB’s name was) by some nobody.

  24. TheShaz Says:

I’m just worried about the Bucs record against backup & no-name QB’s

Heineke almost singlehandedly disrupted the Bucs playoff run last season.

  25. Richard Says:

Denny Gay is SPOT ON!!!! The NFL network loves the freakin cowgirls and it is the worst this year than it’s ever been. Every single day you hear” live from Oxnard at the cowgirls camp” .I have tried many times to contact the NFL about this favoritism without success. Any of you guys who are on social media please start a thread about this nonsense, I’m not on any social media…. they’re not America’s team….. they’re the ” all July and August team” !!!!!!

  26. Rod Munch Says:

People are stupid. I don’t care how the Bucs win, so long as they win. If Dak is out, great, it helps the Bucs chances of winning.
