Wise Words From Ke’Shawn Vaughn
August 7th, 2021Second-year running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn seems like he had/has a great plan for 2021.
Speaking yesterday, Vaughn emphasized that he spent much of his offseason focused on running routes — routes, routes and more routes, and catching on the run.
“That has helped a lot because here in camp I’ve been doing my thing,” Vaughn said of standing out for his pass catching.
Newcomer third-down running back Giovani Bernard got praise from Vaughn for a being an eager teacher and a valuable asset when it comes to studying a running back’s route running.
And Vaughn seems very much aware that Tom Brady’s opinion of his play matters a ton. “Once he trusts you, anything can [follow].”
Joe believes Vaughn is a real part of the Bucs’ running backs competition. The 2021 third-round pick is well respected at One Buc Palace, and don’t discount that he’s the only running back on the roster drafted by Arians.
More important, Vaughn flashed a couple of times last season and he reported to camp down about five pounds and in stellar shape, “I’m just toned up (laughs),” Vaughn said yesterday.
Preseason certainly is the X-factor for Vaughn. He’s going to get a ton of work. If he can’t look very special against future beer truck drivers, grad students, assistant restaurant managers and gym teachers, then he won’t have much of a case for meaningful snaps early in the season.

Here’s to a bright future!

He’s a very secure RB for the future. He could be a great third down RB if he ups his game, but then again everyone needs to up their game. He’s a great pass blocker, runs down hill, and has hands.

I watched him play at Vandy many times. Against the best competition week in and week out. The kid can play. All he did was produce and he will get chance in due time.

Glad he’s here. He’ll have to wait a bit but it looks like he’ll be a fine RB when the time comes. Good attitude for sure.

Joe- How are Cameron Kinley and Chris Wilcox doing? Any valuable depth to the secondary there?
August 7th, 2021 at 12:42 pm
Thisisouryear… heard yesterday that Kinley had a couple nice plays and opportunities for picks and dropped them. I think that was what Arians was referring to in the last paragraph of another article “nasty bucs”.

What a fortunate problem to have. Too much talent. RB, WR, TE!! = TD’S
August 7th, 2021 at 12:53 pm
Ya know, I completely forgot Vaughn was on the team.

Love him

We know Vaughn has running skills. If he can prove that his hands as a receiver is as good as his college days, then he’ll climb up the ladder quickly. Plus, Benard, Rojo and Fournette’s contracts are up after this season. Makes sense to give Vaughn a larger role this year to replace one or two them.
August 7th, 2021 at 2:24 pm
Yeah Alabama. I don’t see how we can keep all three FA’s. And as Bruce expects RB’s to block well and catch the ball, it would be more difficult for a rookie to just step in and play well. I think we resign two next year…likely Bernard and Rojo or Leonard. Vaughn should be able to step in and take one of their places.

Give him half of Fournette’s carries during the regular season so we can see some positive gains.
August 7th, 2021 at 9:22 pm
I’m surprised Fournett is back. I really thought Vaughn would be the third down guy with Rojo being the main ball carrier.
He could catch on college, just needed time to develop with blocking.
Now it’s a crowded backfield but he’ll get his chances and should be here for the long-haul

Injuries are always a part of the game.
He’s one snap and a couple of missed blocks from being the top back on this team.

Fournette will be long gone before Vaughn.

I recwatched his college hilights, man he was just roasting defenses. One Long TD after another. Give him some carries.
