A Non-Update Update On Cameron Brate

Bucco Bruce Arians opened his first training camp news conference with an edict.
Don’t ask about injured players!
Or allegedly injured players. (There are no injury reports in the summer.)
Arians was adamant that he wasn’t going there. Of course, he would have fielded those questions since big names like O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate, among others, weren’t practicing on Day 1.
Arians never said how long his order was in place, so Joe asked Arians a week later (yesterday) if he could/would share update on the status of Brate. Joe got a simple answer, “No.”
Today, Arians was asked about outside linebacker Cam Gill missing time, and he said, “We’ll just have to wait and see,” adding that a couple of guys are out and are just day-to-day. Is Brate among them?
It seems like it’ll just be one of those years when injuries are kept super close to the vest. Joe knows Sage JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman made a couple of well-placed phone calls to inquire about Brate’s injury and was shut down as if he was asking for the nuclear codes.

I don’t remember Brate ever being injured before. Bet it’s either hammy or groin

If it was a normal situation, you would think we would know more. In the back of my mind, I’m just wondering if they are thinking of trading him. Seems odd. But I have seen them rest guys to avoid injury before making a trade before.

Between Brate and OJ tight end could an Achilles heel for the Bucs. Pun intended. Could be a major issue if Gronk is the only available true tight end that is available.

Well it doesn’t take a fortune teller to projet some bad news for Brate. To bad as i have him as the most under appreciated player on the roster. The dude just delivers. Fortunately we have depth at the TE position, until OJ goes down again with a season ending injury. Hopefully by then Cam will be returning.

Seasoned veteran players who know they have a spot reserved for them on the roster are more likely to experience lingering injuries than those fighting to get a slot. It’s mind numbing how stupid some of you people are.

Hope Cam is OK by regular season. Not a good blocker but sure hands and money in the red zone.
