Another “Home Game”
July 28th, 2021It’s never to early to talk about what likely will be the most watched football game in NFL regular season history.
Of course, that’s the Buccaneers heading to New England on Oct. 3, for a Sunday Night Football game that will features the greatest quarterback in world history facing his old team and legendary former coach. And the Bucs are Super Bowl champs — and the Patriots should have a smothering defense.
Patriots legend Vince Wilfork has strong opinions about that game, so he told ESPN TV.
Wilfork, one of the greatest nose tackles in NFL history, says it won’t be a Tampa Bay road game.
“I think it’s going to be a home game feeling for [Brady]. I really do,” Wilfork said. “I think the fans are going to welcome him with open arms. I think he’s going to be embraced because of so much he’s done for that organization. Tom is Tom, you know, a New England Patriots or a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. He’s Tom. And people love Tom and people hate Tom. But he’s going to a place [where he’s beloved].”
Wilfork was with Brady when he won back-to-back Super Bowls, and he’s convinced the Bucs will be right back knocking on the door of another Super Bowl win this season if they stay healthy.
It’s no one-man show in Tampa, per Wilfork, who said what the Bucs accomplished in Brady’s first year was evidence of how good the entire team was when Brady arrived.
Joe can’t wait for that Bucs-Patriots game. Fun stuff. But Joe can’t agree that it will feel like a home game for the Bucs.
If New England jumps out to a 2-1 record, then Joe would be confident that those annoying Pats fans will be all fired up thinking they’re going back to the Super Bowl. If the Patriots enter that game with a losing record, then yeah, the fans will be treating Brady like a treasured guest.

The “Providence steam roller” with Brady driving it, comes to mind when the Bucs show up in Mass to play the Patsies. A goos 40-10 whoopin would be nice. BTW Billie B’s lifetime win percentage without Tom is a whopping 47% GO BUCS!!!!!!

Does this mean that New Orleans has an extra home game on Dec 19 (TBBF will be there)…..because the beloved “America’s Quarteback” Jameis Winston returns home?

It’s just another game to me and truthfully it is of less importance because the Patriots are in the AFC. It will be fun to watch as we all buy into the hype.

I don’t know about that!
Those Massholes will NOT be rooting for the Bucs or Brady once the whistle blows !

You forgot an “o”, Joe.

I agree with the poster above me that those Massholes will NOT be rooting for the Bucs or Brady once the whistle blows !
I don’t think they will Boo him, but not welcome him with open arms either.

When Brady left the Patriots, the question was was it Brady or Belicheat, or the two together, that made the team great. I thought it was the two of them together, but now I’m thinking TB was the principal reason for their success. A great QB can make an average coach look great. I’m not so sure a great coach can make an average QB look great. Belicheat had the GOAT driving his boat and his boat won a lot of races. Last year, without Brady, he went 7-9. Let’s give him a couple more years and then I’ll think we’ll be able to put this issue to bed. Brady was the driving force behind the Patriots’ success, and Belicheat is not nearly as great a coach as everyone makes him out to be.

So another hall of fame player believes we where talented before Brady? I agree 💯

Wilfork is Tom’s friend and former teammate, so it is not surprising he thinks fans will cheer Brady. But will they? It will be really interesting to see. Fans are fans and cheer their team, but what Tom did for that organization for 20 years is unprecedented.

I disagree with SB~LV. NE Fans will cheer for the Bucs DURING the game.
Look at Matt Damon. He’s on TV saying he’s rooting for TB12 over the Pats.
You’ll see signs in the stands and Brady jerseys on. Fans aren’t happy Belichick booted one of their own. This is their chance to voice displeasure.

hi kids:there is zero chance the fans don’t go crazy for tom. oh, they will support the pats, but we all know how we won those championships. I haven’t seen any poles, but you gotta believe 75% of New England believes tom carried bill. ask Matt Damon. Go BUCS!
