Vita Vea Checks In On Joe Tryon
July 27th, 2021Joe’s confident that the Buccaneers’ veteran front-7 would never go easy on a rookie.
It’s just not in the nature of this Super Bowl defensive front, and those savvy vets know that a high standard is critical, especially for a first-round draft pick.
So Joe feels great hearing all the positive vibes about rookie edge rusher Joe Tryon flowing through three training camp days.
Today was Vita Vea’s turn to check in on the No. 32 overall pick, and he didn’t hesitate.
“He’s been really explosive out there, really athletic,” Vea said. “He’s just showing everybody what he can do out there. I think he’s learning a lot from the two guys in front of him, Shaq and JPP. So I think just being behind them and learning from them, it’ll really benefit him in the long run. But he’s been doing really good the past couple of days and I just see him getting better.”
Yeah, Joe knows Vea wouldn’t trash a struggling rookie, but conversely, he wouldn’t glow like this about Tryon if the kid wasn’t shining.
It’s early, very early, but very encouraging.

Lovin the Tryon love.

Great to know our first round manbeast looks explosive in his underwear.

Huskies making an impact, JT looks like he can handle the heat better than big ole VV

And the thought that he is actually soaking in this knowledge from all these dominant defensive players. He’s got all star vets like JPP,Shaq,Suh,LVD. But he can also turn to Vea and Devin to relate to trying to become a young superstar coming out of college.

Ha!
I’d listen to what JPP has to say about the rookie!
Which would be not much if anything

This isn’t a slam on the young man but he has very narrow shoulders for someone so tall which might make it difficult him handling too much rushing to the inside but also help him because linemen hands will be closer together when trying to block him making it easier for him to block their hands and get better leverage against their outside shoulders and giving them less leverage against him.

DBBF… see Simon Rice

DBBF- Sapp (NFL HOF) is built like a sack of potatoes, yet I remember him competing in one of those old NFL challenge shows. He was kicking butt with his athleticism. I think being great is at least 50% attitude and want to.

DBBF … 6’5″ and 259 lbs at 22 years old gives him a nice start. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him bulk up to 270 or thereabouts this year or next. Think Alex Cappa; he got quite a bit stronger by the end of his first year.

I looked everywhere but I can’t find this story, maybe you guys will remember as well. I thought it was Bill Cowher after a loss against the Bucs he said he wanted Warren tested for P.ED.s because he should not be able to jump or move like that. He might have blocked a kick in the game anyhow. I have the clear memory it was said but I can’t find it on the internet.

Dbbf I don’t see these narrow shoulders? I see a well built nfl player. Now if you were telling me shaq doesn’t have an nfl body I would agree. But that chubby looking shaq body led the league in sacks and dominated the playoff run. So I doubt your little body worries of a player carry any weight.

Tryon not to get too excited.
July 27th, 2021 at 8:26 pm
JPP would be the one to listen to, he knows what is what, JPP hopefully is willing to unload a boatload of knowledge on this youngster and hopefully Tryon is willing to listen and able to process it and perform it. Someday JPP will be done but he could live on through Tryon.

LOL @sasyquatch
Me too, just Tryon to breathe. CANT WAIT… LETS ROLL Boys!!!

I’ve been explosive in my underwear a time or two as well.

Everything seems good, but as you know Joe, we will all begin to see just what the Bucs have in JT when he actually plays in an NFL game. As I have said before Joe, he reminds me of Jevon Kearse “the Freak” out of UF that played with the Titans. Now that would be awesome if he is anywhere near the Freak. But again we will see. GO BUCS!!!!

DBBF…No reason he couldn’t put on a little more weight but that dude is large, fast, and versatile edge rusher and OLB. You watch his college video and that guy might have been mid first round if he didn’t opt out last year. He can totally collapse the pocket. Another addition to the run defense if it works out.

I hope he plays like javon kearse

@DavidBigBucsFan99
I get what you’re saying, some folks think you’re referring to his musculature which is excellent. He might be a tad narrow in terms of width, but what’s important is his wingspan. Tryon has excellent wingspan, well above what you’d expect for an NFL EDGE/LB. In terms of an OT or TE getting to the inside to block, he’ll have to become adept and fighting with his hands. Again, that’s something all EDGE players have to develop if they wish to excel in the NFL.

His body type reminds me of Chandler Jones actually. Wouldn’t that be nice…

Id rather hear vita say hes a special talent
July 28th, 2021 at 9:22 am
Good looking and athletic but looks decathlon athlete than a football player. NFL linemen may manhandle him. Preseason games will show what we got.
July 28th, 2021 at 10:02 am
Among all positions, the DE has the best change to contribute immediately when joining a new team. So, I believe Tryon will get a lot of chance this year.

Keep your panties dry. That quote was the company line.
Vea has seen JT do drills for maybe 15-20 min.
>They’ve only had 3 practices
>They aren’t wearing pads
>Field 1 (starters) and Field 2 (backups) practice in two separate locations
July 29th, 2021 at 4:49 am
But is he tough?
Can he take the beating?
He looks rich and soft to me.
I don’t like pretty boys on defense.
I want dogs and killahs.
