Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett at the White House
Today was Shaq Barrett’s second trip to the White House as a Super Bowl winner, so it’s no surprise he seemed more interested in talking football than the meaning of the visit with his teammates.
Joe asked Shaq about his public statements — multiple times — about gunning from Day 1 this season for the Defensive Player Of The Year award, the sacks title and every other damn accolade he can snare.
“I mean it!” Shaq said, and he proceeded to talk to Joe about his goals and focus, and how two years of personal growth — and growth within the Bucs defense — have set him up to make history.
Shaq wants fans to know he is not blowing smoke and he’s laser-focused on producing a season that will be the envy of every pass rusher in Bucs history. It also seems that having 19 1/2 sacks two seasons ago (aka just missing 20), is extra motivation for Shaq to bust the 20 mark this year.
Joe loves Shaq’s passion. And those are not glow-in-the-dark stars on Shaq’s suit. Those are the threads.

All Shaq needs to do is average 1.5 sacks per game and he’ll have the sack record and then some. He plays the season the way he played in the playoffs he’ll have MVP as well. The Bucs win it all again and his accomplishment will be etched in stone!

I didn’t appreciate how fast Shaq is until I saw him chase Mahomes all over the field in the super bowl. The guy is amazing. Records are within his reach.

Yes, Shaq has amazing closing speed! It is very uncommon to see a QB get away from him, another reason why he has so many sacks!

Shaq is disrespected throughout the media. Underrated. Undervalued.

Helluva player. A lot better than just Von Miller’s backup, and I bet the Broncos wish they had held into him. Our gain. Good comments on closing speed. He finishes well and has nice wiggle/bend.

My son last yr got 22.5 sacks in 8 games.
However that was 8 man football! Still he got nicknamed “The Missile”
