Michael Irvin: Cowboys Will Lose To Bucs On Opening Night

Even one of history’s greatest Cowboys, a man who believes Dak Prescott simultaneously could be a Comeback Player of the Year and MVP candidate this year, knows what he’s looking at with our beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Dallas homer and Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin joined The Rich Eisen Show yesterday and was pressed to pick the winner of the 2021 NFL season-opener, Cowboys at Buccaneers.
Irvin agonized and was not eager to participate. “Oh, the size of this game,” he moaned. “If you win a Super Bowl at home and turn around and lose an opener at home facing America’s Team, ohhh.”
Irvin, who said he spent significant time with Prescott this offseason, believes will come out firing on his healed ankle and slice up the Bucs. “But [Tampa Bay] come out of this win with an “L” even though Dak will play great.”
Joe loved hearing the raw pain in Irvin’s voice. For the record, Irvin predicts the Cowboys will win eight consecutive games after losing to the Bucs, then fall to the Chiefs before finishing the season 13-4.

You darn right Irvin. I’m a big fan of Irvin. I agree with him maybe 75% of the time but I respect the conviction of that man’s beliefs and was a heckuva WR.

I feel like Irvin was playing with words, meaning Dallas will play winning football, but will inevitably lose to Tampa. Either way, it’s a chance for him to speak the truth and to implant a chip on his favorite teams shoulder.

My wife’s a die hard Cowboys fan. She loved the glory days with Emmit, Michael, and Troy. But things have changed, and when I suggested the Cowboys were about to get their arses kicked, I got an icy stare. We’ll be watching the game from separate rooms come Sept 9th.

The Cowboys win more when Prescott throws for less then 4,000 yds. By today’s standards, not hitting 4,000 yds is pedestrian. With the Cowboys just giving him a huge pay increase, i dont see the team being all that good until the cap can move upward. There’s simply no way to have any depth when your QB is eating up that much cap space and he’s not carrying his team like Rodgers.

Irvin is one of my favorite commenters. Very entertaining and love his mindset. The only thing hes not so good at is talking about the Cowboys. Hes can be borderline delusional about his Co we boys and how good he thinks they are but in the end hes only drinking the Cowboys coolaid…..I been there with my Bucs so i can respect it.

I have always been a buc fan and season ticket holder. I feel bad for the Cowboys in that the biggest thing holding them back is the ownership. It’s a tough way for them to open the season but it’s just one game, for either team . GO BUCS.

Idk, Dallas has a soft division, everyone’s healthy, who knows? I bet they have a great regular season (after losing to our Bucs) and in typical cowboys fashion they flame out in January.

Dak is overrated. So is Zeke. Irvin is boring and annoying. Nobody in Texas likes Jerry Jones. The Cowboys uniforms are the most plainmartin ugly rags in the entire NFL. All I see with the Cowboys’ season is a bunch of firewood.

The Cowboys are doing nothing right now besides studying/living/breathing the Buccaneers for the next 2 months. A loss wouldn’t be detrimental to their season. But a win for them would be huge and set the tone for the season. It’s like a win and you’re in game for them.
That being said, I hope we stomp a mud hole in their a$$es.

Michael Irvin had one of the best super bowl pre game fired up moments I have ever seen. Did any one else see when he was talking about the bucs coming out at home playing like there lit on fire. Then the cannons started firing and he stood up yelling as they were going off about how the bucs weren’t going to lose at home. If you haven’t seen it I recommend googling it.

GTFOH Irving is by far one of the best commentators around today and you can tell from what he says why he was the leader in that cowboys locker room. If you’re doubting and calling Dak Prescott an 8-8 type QB, it’s like calling Drew Brees a losing QB. People forget the Brees-Payton combo (2nd best QB/HC combo in the past decade) have had 5 losing seasons together. Having a great QB helps but wins/losses are a team stat. So the comment of “he’s not carrying his team like Rodgers” is null in void. The Packers have a good defense, the cowboys? Nope. Last season with Dak we were putting up 32.5 points for the first 4 and 3/4 games till he got hurt (he was for 31 of our 37 points in that game against the Giants)

I read a medical study on serious ankle surgeries amongst athletes. As expected, their is an impact on speed and quickness.
Dak ran a 4.8 pre-injury.
If he’s slowed to a 5.0-5.1, he’ll be slower than each of the Bucs front 7.
I predict an end-to-end dominant outing by the Bucs. It will get ugly in the 4th. Much like the SB.
