Adjustments Await The Bucs

A guy with a Super Bowl ring who caught 107 balls from Tom Brady was talking about his former quarterback this week.
Retired Patriots and Giants running back Shane Vereen was co-hosting on SiriusXM NFL Radio and delved into the 2021 attitude of Brady.
Among the nuggets he shared were how it’s expected, as it was in New England, that teams will defend Brady and the Bucs differently this season. So the first half of the season will be all about staying in at least striking distance of the playoffs before exploding and peaking late.
Adjustments for Brady and the Bucs on both sides of the ball are inevitable, per Vereen, but he believes a Belicheats philosophy will rule.
“We used to have a saying in New England that the NFL season doesn’t start until Thanksgiving,” Vereen said. “Those last five games matter so much because its going to be a barometer of how you’re going to play in the playoffs.”
Of course, any “saying” in New England among offensive players ultimately was Brady-approved. And that philosophy played out perfectly for the Bucs last year when they closed the regular season on a four-game winning streak.
Vereen’s comments also jibe with what Byron Leftwich said was a shared 2020 approach with Brady.
As for Brady personally, Vereen talked about how the bar Brady sets for himself surpasses any others set for him and “he still wants more.” So Vereen has full faith in the Bucs this season and suggested they could be much improved.
Many Bucs fans are aware of Aaron Rodgers’ meltdown in Green Bay, allegedly partially driven by Brady getting everything he wants in Tampa. Interestingly. Vereen suggested it’s not about what Brady has; it’s just about straight up losing to Brady back in January.
“Green Bay had no business losing the NFC Championship game at home to Tampa,” he said.

Green Bay was the most overrated team in the playoffs. Their defense is vulnerable. Their O-line got repeatedly embarrassed by us. And I think Adams is overrated as a WR too. He choked in the NFC title game. When we beat the Saints I had zero worries about the Packers. Rodgers got McCarthy run out of town and then the new coach botched the call to seal their fate. Can you guys tell I hate the Packers!?

GB’s field goal attempt may be one of the worst HC decisions of all time. They are still suffering repercussions. I totally understand why MVP Rodgers doesn’t want to play for that HC.

I disagree, A-A-Ron has made it clear he’s good with his coaches and teammates … His issue is with the front office. The allegations Joe referenced above are on point.

Green Bay and KC are finesse teams. Bucs punched em both in the mouth. Said it before the Bucs played them both. Maul their asps and take them out of their game.

Yes Ben that was a dumb%## call BUT that title will ALWAYS belong to Pete Carroll with Seattle in the SB against the Pats. Dumbest call in sports history. I’ve tried over the years to come up with an analogy that explains just how stupid that call was. It’s like walking thru the Pearly Gates and tell Jesus his Dad sucks. There will always be someone that says if he’s caught it blah blah blah. NO NO NO. Stupidest call EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pete Carroll made a good call, just had results. He thought by passing he’d have three shots at a TD and he would fool the hell out of The Pats. Didn’t work out that way. GO BUCS!

Brady won Atlanta Super Bowl game w no Gronk, no running game, two little white receivers, James White. Not a single Pro Bowl player on offense down 28 to 3. Green Bay excuses are pathetic.

Trey Long . Blunt had over a 1,000 yards rushing plus 19 rushing touchdowns that season so you are worng about no running game bro . You see this is what I be talking about you can by in to the narratives that the media tell you but you can easily see how they push the quarterback position. They want you to believe that the quarterback position is the reason why a team win it’s good business for those owners. They all work together and that doesn’t mean you hate the quarterback of your team like they want you to believe. Or that doesn’t mean you devalue the position either. I think Brady helped us win just like all the other players did.

2nd worse IMO. The worst coaching decision came in the same game when the HC allowed the DC to go single high safety at the end of the 1st half which enabled Scooter to score with basically no time left.
Both of those coaching decisions really show how a coach can impact the game. The NFC Championship game really could have gone either way; GB helped us out there and BL & BA & TB took advantage. Great job!

It certainly can be argued that Carroll made a bad call. However, Lynch was not necessarily a guarantee on short yardage. Yes, he made it a lot, but he also got stopped a lot. If that play worked, Pete would still be hailed as a genius.

When Green Bay chose to kick the field goal at the end of the game, that was losing philosophy. You have one of the best quarterbacks to ever play and he has a shot at the end zone. That play works probably 25% of the time. You took that opportunity away and then the possibility of winning the game went way down. It was loser mentality. Personally, I’m happy he chose it that way. I turned to my friends and said we will now when the game. It’s as simple as that.
