Tom Brady & The Shotgun Fallout
June 15th, 2021Joe suspects a training camp change coming to One Buc Palace will have a long-lasting effect.
A recent report from Hall of Fame voter and Bucs minicamp attendee Sal Paolantonio really intrigued Joe on various levels. Bucco Bruce Arians told Paolantonio on ESPN TV that the Bucs would run significantly more shotgun this summer in order to cut the amount of times Tom Brady drops back and stresses his surgically-repaired knee.
Joe been salivating over this news for days.
First, Joe thinks practicing more in the shotgun will lead to the Bucs finding a lot more comfort in it and, subsequently, using more empty backfields in games. Can any team in the NFL that can hang with the Bucs when they go four- and five-wide?
Second, Joe believes the Bucs didn’t seize many chances last season to run the ball out of the shotgun. And Joe is confident Ronald Jones can do a lot of damage that way.
More shotgun practice will lead to more shotgun usuage — and Joe likes how that potentially could take the offense up a notch.

We just have to hope Jenson doesn’t get Brady killed with his errant snaps.

Jensen’s snaps are shotgun, in terms of the pattern.

Awesome, sounds like this offense is going to the next level…once again!

What I really like about that is we can experiment with the pistol formation. Imagine ROJO with 4 or 5 steps of head speed before he hits the hole!

Joe – I think you are right in that assessment. With the GOAT having the best set of wide receivers in NFL history (not just my opinion), the shotgun will be devastating. Can’t wait.

Rojo has that huge burst of acceleration that backs who run out of a shotgun need to have

Arians blowing smoke. IMO. Just like when he wasn’t going to throw to the tight ends . We shall see

Think about 3 TE, 2 WR, empty backfield. Man oh man, the spice in that lineup.
Evans, Miller on one side, 3 TE on the other. Motion if a blitz is detected to cover the tackle. Someone is going to be WFO (wide freakin’ open)

How about two back split set with Bernard & Rojo. Do they run or do they throw. Things that make you go HMMM.

Love it

Sounds like the knee is worse than advertised.

Great news, the Shotgun is Brady’s comfort zone.
Highlight after highlight of Brady over the years started with Brady in the Shotgun.
Just makes sense.
All the better for Tom, gives him more time to recognize and react to the opponents defensive scheme.
GO BUCS!!!!!

Why not open things up and give D coordinators even more to worry about !!!! Seriously, Bucs can run jumbo and beat you on the ground, they can beat you with multiple TE formations, with play action passing, they can beat you with 2,3,4 or even 5 WR packages, and oh btw, we can also beat you in the shotgun.

“Jensen’s snaps are shotgun, in terms of the pattern.”
:golf clap:

We saw it multiple times last year. You are absolutely not going to stop Brady from rushing down the middle in between the guard and center in goal line situations or when we need a first down. The knee didn’t stop him from doing it then, and it won’t stop it this upcoming year.
June 15th, 2021 at 10:58 pm
Yes. Spread it out and this offense will be real tough to stop. This offense is literally equipped to succeed in any formation. Give me an I formation with Vea and Larry or ROJO and good luck to you defense. Go all in jumbo and we can gash you, spread it out and we can screen you or hit you deep. I love mixing it up and I especially love more shotgun. It’s a buffet of options for BL as we enjoy the last year here before he gets a HC position.

When we rum the ball and then can play action off of that run we seem so much more efficient. like shotgun as a change of pace but leave a back in the backfield to make the linebackers have to at least respect the run. 5 wides with a QB that cant run – I dont know
June 16th, 2021 at 2:00 pm
I’ll tell you where else Beady excels !
Is the 2 minute or “Hurry up” offense !
The Patriots occasionally used that at anytime during the game to very good success !
THAT along with the Bucs already Potent offense could
Literally SMASH Scoring Records !

Prefer the play action and success numbers support that last year compared to shotgun. Keep the defense off balance and keep them from keying on the pass – potentially killing the QB. With that said, Wtf do I know? Lol
