Bucs Pass Bruce Arians’ No-Meeting Test

Bucco Bruce Arians was playing a little sports psychology today on Day 1 of mandatory minicamp at One Buc Palace.
Arians pushed all the right buttons last season and it seems like he’s off to a great start in 2021.
The head coach explained that practice today began without a typical pre-practice meeting. It was a test, Arians said, of how much players were learning/absorbing/retaining from their Zoom sessions with assistant coaches.
“It was impressive,” Arians said. “I thought quarterbacks hit some big-time audibles that we made and played correctly. And defensively, [we played] extremely well on our coverages and our adjustments.”
Arians, as regular readers here know, does not participate in Zoom meetings with players.
Joe really appreciated this strategy by Arians. What a great way to send the message to players that they must be on a new level of accountability and readiness this season.

It’s amazing what a little TRUST can do to fire up an athlete and team.
BA does that and he’s incredibly flexible for any coach much less a freaking football coach. They are typically more conservative that W.F. Buckley!
I’m I the only one who finds it ironic that the 3rd oldest coach in the league is the standard setter and the guy who is the groundbreaker. So much for youth.
D.R. and I are jumping up and down right now. We not only got to enjoy an SB but it was accomplished by a guy our freaking age…well almost for me..don’t know about D.R.

Regarding injury status. BA said OJ was really close, AB was a few weeks. Who was the last guy? He answered he’s a little further off but good for camp. I couldn’t hear the players name?

What makes a truly great coach in comparison to an excellent coach. Think about such legends as Vince Lombardi and Knute Rockne.
Some people have “it” at a young age and never lose it. Others Learn it or acquire “it” along the way.
Arians had the great “Bear” Bryant among his mentors. Nothing wrong with being a late bloomer is there, stpetebucsfan?

Love Arians but let’s be honest, he doesn’t participate in Zoom meetings with players because he can’t figure it out 🙂
