Good Riddance, Julio Jones

Thankfully, these days are over.
So yesterday one of the greatest Bucs killers of all time was (finally) shipped out of the NFC South after months of rumors that he was on the trade block.
The Dixie Chicks traded wide receiver Julio Jones to the Titans for a second-round pick next year and a throwaway pick in 2023.
(The person who claimed the Dixie Chicks were offered a first-round pick for 32-year-old Jones — laughable — also was the same person who beat the drum all last offseason that Tom Brady and the Bucs would not make the playoffs).
And so ends one of the biggest nightmares for Bucs fans.
Jones absolutely ate the Bucs defense for lunch each season (with the exception of facing Todd Bowles’ Bucs defense). From 2014-2018, Jones absolutely went wild on the Bucs, averaging 130 yards a game playing against The Smiths. Mind you his career average yards per game is 95.5.
To be fair, it was easy to put up points on the Bucs when The Smiths were in charge of the defense.
Jones didn’t do much against Bowles’ defense, held in check — under 100 yards — during the two games Jones played against the Bucs in 2019 (Jones didn’t play against the Bucs last season as he was hurt for both games).
Despite Bowles and the Bucs figuring out how to stop Jones, Joe feared the guy because he was such a weapon and because of his history against The Smiths.
Jones’ days in the NFC South are gone, and Joe won’t lose any sleep. But Joe’s pretty sure, however, that Ryan Smith still has counseling sessions to help him cope with bouts of PTSD after trying to guard Jones.

I had PTSD & Night Terrors from Julio. The doctor gave me Xanax & Phenobarbital. The NFC South is looking good for Bucs

The Falcons absolutely fleeced the Titans by getting a second round pick and getting them to take on his entire salary. Julio killed us consistently for sure, but his 60 career touchdowns is pathetic for a supposed first ballot hall of famer with today’s pass happy offenses.

Shayne might have PTSD because of how his name is spelled. Hopefully the Falcons will be as sensitive about losing Jones as Shayne is sensitive to jokes.

never forget the game when Kwon chased Julio down , caught up to him then wrestled the ball out of his hands, by and far was kwon’s best game. also never forget the torching of the Bucs by Julio when he was covered by Ryan Smith.

Especially after this trade, does anyone else get the feeling that NFC teams are throwing in the towel or rebuilding, with Brady on this side of the playoff bracket, while AFC teams seem to be locking and loading?
There are about 4 championship caliber rosters (and 2 others within shouting distance) on that side, Chiefs, Bills, Ravens & Titans (Browns & Steelers). They all seemed to get better this offseason.
In the NFC… maybe 1 other than the Bucs? None of the rest really did themselves any favors. The Packers either won’t have their MVP QB or will have a locker room ready to fold up like a lawn chair come playoffs time (annual tradition), the Seahawks can’t/won’t let Russ cook and the 49ers don’t have an elite qb suddenly after last year (sure JimmyG is still rostered, but if they had faith they wouldn’t have traded up to draft his replacement). Only the Rams seem poised to give the goat a run for his money and I say bring it on!

Brees retires and Julio is traded out of the division! Man this is like a dream come true for Bucs fans. Two players who always broke my heart are no longer on the Bucs schedule

I personally had no problem with the PTSD comment…but we don’t know Shayne. He could have served our country and suffered from it.
So, attacking him for being offended may be out of line.
With that said, he certainly could have voice his opinion on a better way.

I’ve heard worse from Joe, but there are some serious M.D.s on this post. PTSD doesn’t specifically come from being in the military for some of you idiots, so you might feel different about it. Like I said, I’ve heard nastier things out of Joes mouth. Some funny, some not. But f#ck it. Let’s talk some Bucs!

As a former first responder (20+ years as a paramedic) who STILL startles awake numerous times each week from what is most likely PTSD, I don’t give a rat’s arse if someone jokes about PTSD. Why? Because I’m not a snowflake.
As for Julio, Carlton Davis will shut him down in the next Super Bowl as the Bucs win to finish the season undefeated.
