Ironic words from Scotty Miller.
The Bucs’ speedy deep threat is steaming with confidence after breaking through last season as a big-time player and arguably the favorite deep target of the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL.
That kind of success and a Super Bowl ring is enough to get the attention of former Bucs cornerback Aqib Talib, host of the Catchin’ Fades podcast.
Miller explained to Talib that studies and yearns to be the next … wait for it … DeSean Jackson, the former Buccaneer receiver yet to be indicted for thieving countless millions of Team Glazer loot.
“That’s the guy I aspire to be like,” Miller said of Jackson. “I think I can do similar things that he can. So I love watching his film and trying to learn different things that he does. Because he’s a smaller guy that plays big and can run by people.”
Yes, Joe realizes Jackson is one the great receivers in NFL history. Only 40 men have more receiving yards, and Jackson career is continuing with the Rams.
One irony of Miller’s comment is that the draft pick the Bucs got for unloading Jackson to the Eagles is the one they used to draft Miller in 2019. And then there’s the fact that Jackson was a cancerous presence on a Bucs roster — and a coaching staff — that wasn’t strong enough to handle him.
Of course, Miller is Jackson without the ego and attitude, even if he told Aqib Talib that he’s likely faster than D.K. Metcalf and Tyreek Hill.
Millers said he ran a 10.5-second 100-meter dash in high school when he was just 140 pounds. Miller said he’s sure he can run at least 10 seconds flat now and would love to see anyone in the NFL challenge him to a race.

He has respect for someone who has excelled, DeSean Jackson. That is an admirable trait to have. Let’s just consider that in this era of tearing people down.

Scotty has definitely made a name for himself and Mike Pettine (now a Bears Coach) and Kenny King sure know who Scotty is now lo lol along with every other Green Bay fan screaming NOOOOOOOOOO!!! when Brady and Scotty caught the Pack sleeping zzzzzzzzz with that dagger shot before the half at the NFC Title game lol lol

Look I love scooter but 10 seconds flat? Dude, that’s complete utter B.S. I know a lot of jersey wearing, hero worshipping adults will believe literally anything that comes out of an athletes mouth but 10 seconds flat is qualifying for the god damn Olympics, and if you’re 10 now then there’s an ok chance he’d have ability to shave .015 off to have a chance to compete for a medal which is utterly laughable. Additionally – Tyreek Hill may be a terrible human, but I really wish people would stop saying they’re faster than him. They are not. No one in the NFL is until he gets old. 40 yard dash means Jack crap in the 100 for one, and he is the only human in the NFL that has come close to Olympic qualifying speed running in the 10.1’s in HS, which btw is much MUCH faster than 10.5 in a foot race

Last I checked John Ross is faster than both of them.
He can’t even latch onto a team so who cares?
Speed is desirable but doesn’t mean $hit if you cant catch.
Scotty has straight line speed yes, but Jackson he will never be, because he IS NOT a good route runner.
Now Darden on the other hand can do it all.
Its why we moved up to draft him, higher than Miller went BTW.
Its why Miller doesn’t return punts.
Its why Miller doesn’t return kick offs.
Usually 3rd year receivers who are good go off in year 3.
I’m expecting to see the opposite with Miller.
Way too many better players on this team.

True. Miller is not a complete WR. However, he does have speed and he CAN catch. As to Darden, we’ll have to see.

Jackson knew the previous QB was all talk. He let it be known I’m not justifying some of his actions meetings and such. He was trying to force a trade he wanted out can’t blame him.

This isn’t news. When we drafted him, looking at the video of his college games, many of us saw DeSean Jackson… unless you only see race – some were saying he was the next Adam Humphries. Not at all. He’s always been a DeSean Jackson style player.
