Stoked for Bucs-Patriots.
Joe doesn’t get it.
Joe listened to Danny Kanell on SiriusXM Radio Wednesday — some suggest Kanell is a master troll but in reality Kanell draws ears and generates passion — claim the Bucs-Belicheats game in Week 4 will be the most anticipated game in the 102-year history of the National Football League.
What is Joe missing? One team (the Bucs) is defending Super Bowl champs. The other (the Belicheats) is coming off a losing season and we don’t even know who their starting quarterback will be, over-the-hill, shot-arm pouty Cam Newton or green-as-grass rookie quarterback Mac Jones?
For Joe, that’s not remotely a game that Joe would lie awake at night thinking about. A game in Week 3, the Bucs at the Rams, is a whole lot more intriguing and relevant than the Bucs-Patriots.
But popular national sports radio and network television sports personality Adam Schein is in the same boat as Kanell.
Schein, like Kanell, thinks this is the most anticipated game in NFL history. The host of “Time to Schein,” seen weeknights on CBS Sports Network, is loving the hype and he admits it freely.
Also, Schein said it’s not unreasonable to expect the Bucs to have a better regular season this year than they did last year. Some 12 wins should be within reach for the Bucs, he believes.

I think the hype Joe (which seems obvious…..) is bigger than just this or the previous season, the story line is the best coach ever vs best QB ever.

Please. Their just trying to drum up some drama so they can boost ratings. I think it’s pretty obvious that the “straw that stirs the drink” is the QB.
Belichek is a HOF coach and no matter the outcome of that game, he will still be a HOF coach. Same applies to Brady.

I don’t know why anyone would assume the Patriots don’t have a chance. The pressure is all going to be on Brady and the Bucs not just to win, but mainly not to lose. Never underestimate the evil genius of Belichick. And I hope we don’t look past the Rams because if it.

I disagree, the Pats had more starters opt out than any other team. The weapons, and defense will be better and Bill will have a plan. Bucs should still win but it should good

Sounds like ticket prices are going up almost as fast as JBF readership/Ira’s salary cap #. This will be the Patriot Nation version of their super bowl. Coming off the heels of a west coast trip to SoFi stadium won’t make it any easier.

Brady has proven that he can win a super bowl without Belichick. Belichick has yet to prove that he can win one without Parcells or Brady. If it was Bucs/Pats in this years superbowl, then I get it, but it’s just a regular season game.

The media making this bigger than it is, but at least those not in the Tampa Bay market get to see a Bucs prime time game. I agree, it is the Rams (Stafford), Falcons(their receiving corps) Bills, WFT (Fitz) and Saints (Winston/Hill). Pats v. Bucs is only appealing if we get Mac Jones v. Kyle Trask 😁

What football fan doesn’t want to see this game joe? Kind of a weird take. Just because it isn’t our hardest matchup doesn’t make it less meaningful. We know you hate watching the patriots so maybe that is the reason

On paper, it’s not the most thrilling match-up of the year. In fact it should be a boring match-up. The Bucs have the better roster, the better QB situation, the better defense. What’s hyping the game is the external factors, emotions, and the human factors. The fact it’s Brady’s final game in Gillette stadium. The fact that’s its likely the one and only final showdown between Brady and Belichick. Etc.. That’s what’s driving the hype and will continue to do so.

This article sounds exactly like it was written by the guy who said he actively went out of his way to ignore watching the Patriots for the last 20 years because watching a modern day dynasty be great was “boring.”
It’s the greatest QB of all time going back to face off against his former coach who just happens to be arguably the greatest head coach of all time.

Just in case you were unaware Joe, you ignoring the Patriots like you did, you missed out on some of the most entertaining football games and certainly some of the most entertaining/drama filled Super Bowls ever.
Its a shame that someone who calls themself a fan of the sport couldnt appreciate greatness right in front of their own face.

12 wins in a 17 game schedule would be a disappointment. 12 wins would not be enough to get a first round bye. If the Bucs want the number 1 seed they will need to win 13 or 14 games.

It’s not so much about the supporting cast and records. This is about Belicheat vs Brady. The record books for New England during Brady’s presence were unreal. The debate was what makes the team so great, the head coach or the QB. Brady left, and New England didn’t make the playoffs. Brady will want to put an exclamation point on this debate. By defeating the Patriots in Foxboro, he will contend that he had more to do with the Patriot’s success than Belicheat. And, I think he’s right.

This is more about how Brady and Belichick will greet each other after the game. This is what happens every time Belichick plays one of his ex-coordinators. The hype will be even more pronounced now that he will be coaching a game against the best player that he has ever coached and the key to his success. My prediction: a cordial handshake and much ado about nothing!
