Tom Brady Lauded For QB Mentorship

This should shut the yaps of the clowns that don’t think Tom Brady, the greatest quarterback in Bucs history, is willing and eager to mentor a rookie quarterback.
In 2014, the Belicheats, like the Bucs last week, drafted a QB in Round 2 of the NFL Draft. That was Jimmy Garoppolo out of Eastern Illinois. Brady was 36 years old and while he may not have been doing avocado cartwheels about the pick, he embraced the challenge, if you believe Garoppolo’s fresh comments to BSPN.com.
“It’s kind of coming full circle,” Garoppolo said. “You go through this NFL career and you start as a young guy coming in. Tom kind of showed me the ropes. The competition between us was awesome. It really made me grow as a rookie and as a young player. So, that’s kind of what me and Trey, we’ll mold our relationship into that. But it will happen naturally. It’s one of those things you can’t force anything. Just let it come as it may.”
Now with the 49ers, Garoppolo was referring to Niners first-round pick QB Trey Lance, the No. 3 overall pick this year.
It’s uplifting to hear Jimmy G. reset this story that further elevates Brady’s greatness. Joe can’t wait to learn that Brady has challenged Bucs rookie QB Kyle Trask to win his job, and make the franchise believe Blaine Gabbert/Ryan Griffin are expendable.

The difference in the Bucs situation that that TB12 has nothing to fear even if by some grace of God Trask outshines him. Garrapolo on the other hand has to be fearful Lance will take his job.
Apples to Oranges. Which means that Trask is the luckiest QB that was drafted. He gets Tom Brady as mentor that will share all his secrets.

If the franchise didn’t already understand that Gabbert & Griffin are expendable…Not sure the Rookie performing well would do it.
At least Gabbert is serviceable as a spot starter/BU…Who knows what Griffin brings to the table, beyond good camp reps.

I have zero doubt in my mind as to whether or not Brady is a willing or capable mentor. The guy is probably the most cerebrally gifted QB of all time with a wealth of knowledge at his disposal.
But just like any other coach or teacher, Brady ain’t a miracle worker.
The guy has had backups for 20 years, and it’s no coincidence that the most talented of his backups, Jimmy Garoppolo, is the only one who’s experienced any kind of legitimate success in the league, would probably easily be around the 16th best QB in the league if he could stay healthy.
That’s why its makes zero sense to take a guy with so very little upside over a guy like Kellen Mond who actually has legitimately elite physical tools to work with but is incredibly raw. That’s the kind of guy who would benefit from Brady’s teachings in my eyes.
And before the Gators fans jump down my throat I’m not even saying that Kellen Mond will be anything in the NFL, but he has heaps more potential than Trask and that’s not even debatable when you compare the two on tape.
Hope I’m wrong and that Trask manages to maximize what little potential he has learning from the best to ever do it. Go Bucs.

Woah dude, slow down. Licht had a pretty amazing 4 year run of drafting and offseason pickups 2017-2020
Not every pick or free agent signing was a hit, Licht had his fair share of misses and headscratchers, but if you examine the Super Bowl roster, the core of the team was assembled in those years.
Licht has cemented himself as one of the better GM’s in the league. And outside of what I view to be 2 mistakes in our 1st 2 picks, He still had a pretty solid haul. Hainsey and Darden especially have a ton of potential.

I’m basing my opinion on how a guy looks on film and the physical traits and skill that they exhibit on said film. I also take into consideration athletic testing and any known character concerns or serious medical red flags that are made public.
Box score scouting will get you burned every single time.
Personality and personal/medical history matter as well, but traits and tape are by far the 2 most important things. And Kellen Mond’s traits and tape are just so much much impressive than Kyle Trask’s.
Go and watch him against Clemson last year and make your own determination. If you do, I think you’ll find it pretty easy to see what differentiates Mond and Trask.
Mond has a quicker, tighter release, a more powerful arm, is more mobile, can make more plays off schedule when the scheme breaks down, he played with less talented teammates/targets and played in a worse more predictable offense. I just don’t see why if we were going to take a project QB why we would take Trask over Mond.

Hey Dingle, have you sat down with BA, or J Licht, you know, anyone that was part of the Bucs actually pulling the trigger to draft Trask and asked them why they went with Trask instead of Mond or Mills. You have a personal preference as stated many times on your posts. We can see that, but so do they. I do not know what your occupation is, but we all know for sure for that BA and Licht and Co that NFL football is their occupation, and they have proven very competent. When all is said and done, whether it be good decisions or bad decisions, the arrow is pointing up on BA and J Licht.

Are you saying that is all J Licht and BA doing? I do not think so but you come across like that. All those things you stated about analysis are pretty sound.
So really it is about you having a preference, and J Licht having a different preference.
To write off Trask is actually not a very sound argument. We do not even know in our own lives what will be from day to day in detail. Sure we have an outline about how our day will go, but in detail, no we just do not lol lol.
The bottom line is J Licht and BA believe in Trask over those other QBs.
We will see, I am hoping they are right.
BTW, I have been a fan of FSU since 1979, so this is not coming from a Gator fan that is just supporting Gators to do well in the NFL. I do not care what team you played for, when you come to the Bucs, what matters to me, is if they can compete at the NFL level and help the team. GO BUCS!!!!!!

Gabbett is waiting on Aaron ” I can’t stop whining ” Rodgers if he retires Matt La fleur and the Packers are going to offer Blaine double the contract the Bucs offer him. Remember Gabbert worked with Lafleur in Tennessee in 2018. Not a great loss if he does but I had rather him than Griffin.

My intent was not snark, glad to see you didn’t take it that way. However there is no way you are going to convince me that simply dismissing two years of QB play is less important than your self proclaimed non casual fan evaluation. Especially coupled w/ Tom Moore’s evaluation on the matter. To me you’ve made your point well known on the subject and you’re simply beating a dead horse at this point.

Dingleberry is just as much of an expert as Chris Simms, as he agrees with Chris Simms.
Chris Simms predicted and picked Kansas City to beat the Bucs easily.
Simms predicted the Chiefs would defeat the Bucs in the Super Bowl 38-20, and that the Chiefs would play their best game of the season.
When a person is that incredibly wrong about something that they are supposedly an expert about they lose all credibility.
Because of that prediction, Simms earns every bit of ridicule of his football expertise as well as his horrible playing career. Because Dingleberry agrees with Simms, the same is applied to him.

Just heard former UF and Buc Jacquez Green has been named HC of historic Manatee HS football program.
I just referred to him the other day comparing him to Jaelon Darden, Green was not a willing NFL returner and either went down early and easily or beat feet out of bounds.
I don’t think Darden will do that and lives for making big plays !

If this kid Trask can beat Brady out then he will have taken down the best QB in history. Seriously, Brady will forget more than this kid will ever learn unless Brady teaches him. If you go back and check the statement I made that you’re referencing you’ll see clearly that I said Simms has been pretty much spot on with his QB draft rankings. Which is true. I never said he was amazing at picking games and has never been wrong. So whatever point you’re trying to make is based on a severely flawed premise.
Btw last October Simms also said that the Bucs were the most complete team in the NFC and that they would be tough to beat if they got hot at the right time.

I have not spoken with Arians and Licht. I wish I had those kind of connections but I don’t. And no I wasn’t accusing them of box score scouting, that was aimed at people on this board who try to claim that Kyle Trask’s obvious limitations don’t matter because he produced in the SEC.
Now obviously BA and Licht saw something in Trask that I and others who are down on him don’t. I’m hoping they’re right but I just don’t think they are.
I think that Licht is clearly one of the best GM’s, love the roster he’s constructed and I’m glad that ownership had the patience to trust his vision for what would restore this franchise to greatness and I think he will continue to do that despite me disagreeing with his first 2 picks in this draft.

Another sidenote on Simms, I continue to try and emphasize that he is good at evaluating QB’s coming out of college going into the draft. Although it definitely seemed like he had a weird thing going on with Justin Fields this year.
But yeah as far as his NFL QB rankings, he definitely harbors some kind of weird jealousy towards Brady it seems. And he has super ultra mega goo goo eyes for Aaron Rodgers. But he was spot on about Brees and his declining arm.

Man I was called a racist and was told that I was mad because Brady is a white quarterback. But yet I’m happy that we got Trask. I was celebrating when we brought Trask in . But now it seems like a lot of people hate him already and he haven’t played 1 down in the NFL. Trask can be developed just give him a running game and set a system that fits his talents. He doesn’t have to throw 45 times a game . He can throw 25 to 35 times a game at most 35 and he can become a great quarterback . Trask did good and he didn’t have a runningback like Jones had at Alabama . We have to come together on this one as a fan base. And no I didn’t like the Brady move at first because we didn’t have a young quarterback behind him learning. That was my hold beef at first with the Brady pick . I just didn’t want to be like the eagles and the 2002 bucs a 1 hit wonder .I want a franchise like Pittsburgh who always in the mix . Go Bucs !!

Predicting games means that you have the capability of evaluating the talent and capabilities of both teams.

here is a draft report on MOND !?
As a passer, Mond has a strong arm with the ability to really spin the ball. He can push the ball vertically downfield with the ability to throw a tight spiral into small windows. While Mond can be a bit mechanical in the pocket, he has a quick release and shows the ability to throw some superb passes on the run. At times, Mond has the look of a competent passer, but he lacks consistency and is streaky. He runs hot and cold from week to week and during stretches in games. Mond has to vastly improve his reliability and efficiency.
The biggest issue with Mond is a lack of accuracy. At times, he throws some perfect well-placed passes that are things of beauty. But he also sails passes off the mark regularly. The lack of accuracy and precision are big hurdles for Mond to become a NFL starter. Mond’s issues start from the ground up, as his footwork is inconsistent, and that leads to him being inaccurate. Mond showed some improvement during his junior and senior years, but he needs to make a big jump to become a pro starter.
On top of his accuracy, Mond needs to continue to improve his field vision and ability to throw touch passes. He throws a flat ball sometime, and that is a common issue with big-armed quarterbacks who grow reliant on throwing fast balls.
Mond has solid intangibles according to team contacts. Some team sources said they gave Mond a third-round grade, but others have him graded on Day 3. Mond has an outside shot of sneaking into the third round, but his more likely range is the fifth or sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

His talent evaluation skills have resulted in the Bucs winning a Super Bowl with the talent he evaluated and assembled.
Ali Marpet, Alex Cappa, Tristan Wirfs, Chris Godwin, Vita Vea, Devon White, Winfield JR, ROJO, SMB, Dean, Davis, etc are all Licht’s picks.
Bruce Arians is a Super Bowl Champion Head Coach and Super Bowl Champion Assistant Coach with Pittsburgh.
Bruce Arians nickname is the QB Whisperer.
Bruce Arabians has worked with Big Ben, Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck.
If Licht and Arians want Trask, then I’ll take their talent evaluation over yours.

If you are really basing your opinions on “film” then why do you continue to quote Phil Sims and others. You’re evaluations on Tryon and Trask’s “film” are laughable! You continue to quote almost verbatim what some of the “EXPERTS”
say about both players. Especially Trask!!
I have watched all of the “film” on Trask. Here is my evaluation: Not a cannon for an arm, but plenty good enough. Watch his pro day. He can make ALL the throws period. He is not a great athlete, but is not a bad one either like you and some others say. He has plus plus accuracy and throws a very tight spiral.
I would challenge everyone to look at his pro day and if you are at all objective you will see the same thing I did.
