Bucs “Embarrassing” To Glazers, Dominik And Rah

Raheem the Dream is as angry as Bucs fans at how bad the team played last season.
So many Bucs fans are angry, bitter and fed up.
In 2009, Bucs fans watched their once proud defense get scored upon more in an afternoon than Ashley Dupree in a month. Serial adulterer Eldrick Woods felt sorry for the Bucs as he scoured a breakfest cafe for his next trailer trash conquest.
In 2009, Bucs fans watched the Pewter Pirates trot out quarterback after quarterback with little change. It got so bad, some Bucs fans wondered if Drew Weatherford was available.
In 2009, Bucs fans watched as management passed on all sorts of players when not so long ago the same team landed the likes of Meshawn Johnson, Simeon Rice and Brad Johnson to bolster their roster. Instead, management hoisted Angelo Crowell as a big-time pick up.
The same Bucs decision-makers saw fit to kick to the curb Super Bowl-winning coach Chucky, future Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks and fan favorites like Warrick Dunn and Ike Hilliard.
In 2009, Bucs fans read of a talented cornerback assault a teammate with a helmet to the face, then the same player decided to blindside a cabbie while the poor guy was driving down the highway.
Since, Bucs fans have seen little tangible progress.
In short, Bucs fans are disgusted, angry, embarrassed.
So too, apparently, are Team Glazer, Bucs general manager Mark Dominik and coach Raheem the Dream.
In answering a question from the TBO.com Bucs question-and-answer forum, Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune tries to explain to an outraged Bucs fan that not only do Dominik and Raheem the Dream feel their pain, that they, along with Team Glazer, are just as upset as Bucs fans.
Q: Do you follow the comments posted on the blog? What do you think about the fans’ animosity, anger, dissatisfaction, hostility, etc., toward management, coaches, owners and you, the writers? Are the Glazers better owners than Hugh Culverhouse? When will the Bucs be winners again?

A: We definitely follow the comments on the blogs, and we realize fans are angry and upset. The fact of the matter is, they’re not alone. The Bucs owners, coaches and players are angry and upset, too. That’s the part I think most fans fail to realize. The Glazers didn’t like going 3-13 and neither did Mark Dominik or Raheem Morris. It was embarrassing to them. They know, though, that in order to get back to winning consistently, they have to restructure the team. Every pro sports team goes through this. The better ones go through it less. The Bucs are paying now for mistakes made in recent years and it will take another year or two to clean up the mess. When will they be winners again? I’d say 2011 is the first year they can realistically hope to be better than .500.

The problem is that I have only heard that team glazer and coaches are embarressed by writes. Every time that team glazer coaches or the Gm speak, they ,talk about the growth and improvement. And NO. we are not paying for the mistakes of seasons past. We paid for all the mistakes in the offseason switching schemes, all free agents not turning out. that is what turned a 9-7 team into a 3-13 team!

It continues to amaze me how the local media just laps up the Glazer’s “rebuilding” plan, and provide them cover with comments like “every sports team goes through this” and “The Bucs are paying now for mistakes made in recent years and it will take another year or two to clean up the mess”.
Allow me to retort.
Good Sports teams don’t fire proven coaches and replace them with a completely unproven one without interviewing or exploring any other candidates.
Good Sports teams don’t complain about bad drafting and then hire a guy as GM from that same personnel department, again without interviewing any other candidates.
Good Sports teams don’t go to the absolute bottom of the whole league in payroll, then act like their totally shocked and upset at a poor product on the field.
They are not “cleaning up a mess”, they are creating a much bigger one, and lying about it as they do.

Sabby the Goat was a no-brainer. There have been various articles written how Dunderhead has cost the Bucs. The Bucs offense just is not good enough to overcome idiotic penalties.

Gruden might have been a good coach or not, its matter of opinion. I personally think he was garbage. All of his offensive genious and waking up at 3am to study was for throwing 3 yd. outs when we need 10 for the 1st?
But you cant argue that he lost the team at the end, and no coach can survive that. Players have to be all-in with their coach, or its doomed from the start.

Here’s the latest spin tactic by the Glazers: Lets blame everything, including world hunger and the war in Iraq on Bruce Allen and Jon Gruden. How convenient to place the blame on those that are no longer with the organization than to accept responsibility for this abortion of a football team themselves. This spin tactic is one of the oldest and most used tactics in the book of spin.

Garbage coaching? Lets see, winning reocord three out of the last four seasons, and two division titles?
And he “lost the team” during that period?
That of course it without even mentioning a little thing called the Super Bowl.

Does anyone really think that once Gruden goes back to coaching that he won’t win more Superbowls? When he’s ready to get back to coaching, he’ll be the hottest name out there. The Glazerhouse’s are going to look really foolish when Gruden gets back to the Superbowl before the Bucs.

Good first post Eric. The writers do seem to be covering for the Glazers lately. The Glazers have only themselves to blame for most of this mess.
I will defend Gary a little bit. Too many times the Bucs did throw for 3 yards on 3rd and 5 or 5 yards on a 3rd and 10. That sort of thing. I like Gruden as a coach, but his offense never did quite jell here. The point total figures back that up. Gruden’s offenses were always in the bottom half of the league point wise (18th, 18th, 23rd, 20th, 31st, 18th, 19th). His offenses were only horrible one year, but mostly they were average to below average. I personally don’t think he ever found a QB here that he was totally comfortable with. Not Johnson, Simms, Griese or Garcia. He had that in Oakland with Gannon. By contrast his Oakland teams were 22nd, 8th, 3rd and 4th. The last 3 seasons were with Gannon as starting QB.
I definitely see Gruden coming back to the league. He just needs to find a team with a QB that he is in sync with. I don’t see Gruden going to a rebuilding team, but probably a team that is mired in mediocrity and need a little push. My advice to Gruden would be to work on his people skills. Too many ex-players rip on him about lying and being untrustworthy. That is a problem. Some of them you can dismiss, but you can’t throw away all the complaints.

Second, you have been rather, well, leniant on Raheem the Dream of late. What gives? Or have you just sunk into a dark depression knowing he’s not going anywhere for a few years (per Joel Glazer)?

Joe – How can I describe how I fee about coach Morris?
I know – Raheem is like foot fungus. It looks bad and smells rotten and now matter how much you wash it won’t go away. Since it doesn’t hurt you put up with it until finally you just can’t take it anymore. Then realize that no matter what you do you’re stuck with this mess – that’s why you see guys wearing socks with their sandels. The fungus just burrows deeper and deeper disfiguring and maiming…
Eventually there comes a day when you get serious about getting rid of the fungus and take the proper action, you break down; spend some money, go to a physician and get it cured.
Ahhhh….I feel better now – thanks Joe!

He might not have been able to do that here, which I think he was with the o-line. He definitely re-built the Raiders. They were 4-12 the year before he took them over and turned them into playoff and superbowl(superbowl opponents actually it was his team Callahan did nothing to change them) contenders in 2 years.

OAR-I am just saying that Gruden can be picky. If I was a sought after coach, I don’t think I would go to a team that had 2 or 3 wins the previous season. I think I would go the Phil Jackson route. Go to a team that is already a winning team and take them to bigger heights. But I don’t know Gruden’s mindset. He could want a challenge of turning around a losing franchise. He will have options.

I think Dallas would be a good fit for Chucky. But I can picture the thermonuclear blow up he would have when Romo does his usual choke at years end.
Or maybe Carolina where he could play Rah twice a year.
Wherever he goes, I predict he will not bring the blocking icon in on a trade and Byron Leftwich wont be his starter.

All I can say is the Glazers picked the perfect city to gut a team of its good players, hire a rookie head coach and GM, laugh at the thought of free agency and then blame it all on someone else. Only the Tampa media could love the softballs that the Glazers hit out of the park every time. Let me think this one sounds like something the Tampa Tribrag would ask.. “Joel after all of the hard work and millions of dollars you have spent on building a winner how does it feel to have the fans turn on you? We all know how great you are why don’t millions of Buccaneer fans see it like we do?” If the Glazers operated in New York or any city that had real journalism they would be eaten alive. I am surprise Roger Goodell has not stepped in but I guess every league needs cheapskate lose at all costs owners so the dynasties of Pittsburgh and New England can continue unabated.
