Close To Goal Line, Mike Evans Is Money
April 23rd, 2021This really shouldn’t come as a surprise, but it is still cool to read it.
The Bucs last season were filthy rich in guys to throw to for park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, Bucs Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady.
Think about it. Most quarterbacks would drool at the chance to throw to the following — on the same team! Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing Antonio Brown, Scotty Miller, O.J. Howard, Cam Brate and foot-rubbing, car-littering Rob Gronkowski. That’s just sick.
Yet last year who did Brady bank on when the ball was near the goal line? It wasn’t his old pal Gronk. It wasn’t his au pair Brown. Nope.
When the ball was inside the 10, Brady called on Evans. The PFF tribe has the stats.
Most REC TDs inside the 10-yard line in 2020:
🔹Davante Adams – 13
🔹Adam Thielen – 10
🔹Mike Evans – 9 pic.twitter.com/m2YZ0gJ0wy— PFF (@PFF) April 21, 2021
This surprised Joe a little. No, not that Evans would catch so many touchdowns deep in the red zone, but Joe would have guessed quickly that Gronk had more of these catches.
If Evans can have yet another 1,000-yard season receiving (he’s never not had one), Joe thinks Evans is awfully safe in someday getting elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Only question is, will Pro Football Hall of Fame voter Ira Kaufman have to be rolled in on a wheelchair for Evans’ presentation?

Evans & Gronk near the goal line should be called “The Twin Towers Package”

Over/under here in Las Vegas is “even money” that Ira outlives both Joe’s despite their youthful looks and svelte physiques. Ira has a quarter of a century left in him ( minimum ). Ira, like Brady, is simply a different animal.

LOL

why do you find that mentioning the age of Ira is important? Try to learn grasshopper.

No problem Joe, Ira can Zoom lol, from anwhere. BTW We all get older day by day anyways. So whatever about age. Hey Ira I hope you got at least 1/3 tank left lol. GO IRA, GO MIKE AND GO BUCS!!!!

Another 1000 yard season should cement Mike’s place in Canton.

As someone who reads your articles, I think the whole paragraph you use to describe Tom Brady is getting old and annoying. We get it already.

@David Gee
👍🏻Hurrumph Hurrumph… Enough of that Brady shtick already 😒 show so respect for the 🐐

When 1/3 of the article is stupid preamble to the greatest of all time maybe it’s too much. I know it’s never going to be removed, only get longer, but it’s getting harder to gloss over when it is becoming the majority of the word count.

“Just Sayin” , agreed indeed !

Gronk was off the couch and didn’t play as many snaps Howard was still in the mix and Brown missed 9.5 games, not really apples to apples Joe. Now who did Brady go to in the end zone in the SB? That tells a different story.

Interesting stat. Would love to see that stat go down next year because we are running the ball from that close. Now lets see how ME13 stacks up with the rest of the league in regards to how many dbs he abuses with the yellow flag. Evans is a beast.

am i missing something? The Bucs have 1 SB since they first arrived on the Mayflower, until To Brady comes along and some of you are tired of talking about him already?????????????????? Guess you guys go to Church and bitch about hearing about Jesus too much?????

here’s a good analogy about Brady joining the Bucs and winning a SB the 1st year. I could buy the fastest, best, bad ass race car and I would NEVER win a race. No i’m not a Nascar fan. I like to turn right occasionally. the Bucs offense was the the race car and Tommy Boy was the best driver on the planet. They will repeat unless those lose focus on who got them to the dance

i know its been a few years, but how well did Jesus run the play fake?
