Bucs’ Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians decided to branch out from just the NFL echo chamber and chatter while he paid a visit to “Basketball and Beyond with Coach K,” on BSPNU Radio, heard exclusively on SiriusXM.
Naturally, with its name, the weekly show is hosted by famed Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski.
Once upon a time not so long ago, Krzyzewski coached three Olympic basketball teams to gold medals. In setting up a question for Arians, Krzyzewski said he learned from coaching those teams that his most difficult task was learning about star players new to his team.
A coach must get to know a star well, Krzyzewski believes, sometimes in a very short timeframe, to not only use that player most effectively but to win games.
So Krzyzewski said he was extremely impressed by how Arians and Tom Brady seemed to bond and get on the same page so quickly, especially given the hurdles of the past year.
Mike Krzyzewski: To bring that level of relationship and have it permeate through the entire team in one season I think is kind of remarkable. How did that develop?
Bucco Bruce Arians: It started with the first phone call. I had known Tom very briefly. We hit it off. He had done his homework. He knew the talent we had. There was only one missing piece.
Arians went on to prop up his entire roster for the Super Bowl season, rather than how he and Brady hit it off. And of course, as for developing a relationship with Brady, Arians noted Brady is not an ordinary football player.
“Tom is such a special, special guy,” Arians said. “Having watched him from afar, you knew he was a great leader and you knew he was a great player. But I never knew what a great locker room guy he was. Taking young players and coaching them. Personally and football-wise.”
Another interesting part of the conversation was Krzyzewski asking Arians about being a three-time cancer survivor (kidney, prostate and skin).
Arians said two of the cancers (kidney and prostate) he beat because of early detection. In fact, in both those cases, Arians was being examined for something different when doctors discovered the cancers.

I won’t say that Brady was the most important addition to the team. We know how that drives some folks to Stupidville. Okay, I am saying it.

I have to admit, I was worried that Brady and Arians would not get along, but I was wrong!
LOL, my buddies at the Sports Bar said my fears were unfounded.
Several of them suggested that if Brady could get along with Bill Belichik, he could get along with anyone.

Those last 2 paragraphs are priceless Joe. Have survived bladder cancer and 3 separate melanoma surgeries and in each case early detection was the key. If all the JBFers don’t read & pay attention to anything else on this beautiful Easter Sunday, I pray that they take those last 2 paras to heart. Have lost way too many friends who didn’t seek treatment until their cancer had progressed too far.

Bucs fans should get rid of the idea that TB is likely to develop any young quarterback. He hasn’t in the past and isn’t likely in the future. It’s baked into the cake.
Now the Arians mind-meld may lead the coaching staff to work on some youngsters, but just don’t expect the GOAT to.

Not having excess to healthcare is killing thousands ever year in FL. Preventative care and catching things early not only saves lives, like BA said, it also saves on cost. Not expanding Medicaid in FL may feel good denying 100s thousands of uninsured people, life saving care to some people in Tallahassee. It cost us all more in tax dollars and is as cruel as it is stupid.

I think a young QB just being able to witness how TB goes about his business would be more than enough to help.
I’m not expecting Tommy to set aside special time for the guy or anything.
Just being around him will work wonders….. if we select the right one.

Heavenly Chris Thomas…excellent idea. It sure played out like a bad soap opera in my head. JW snatched street free agency out of the jaws of a 100 million dollar contract that day…with an assist to wayward, wobbly Matt Gay. So many things had to happen/go right from Week 17 to SB 55 win. Never a better time to be a Bucs fan than right now…with the clown uniforms a distant memory as well.

Why would he in the past? He’s still frickin’playing. Who would he have been developing them for?

I am not a MD and I don’t pretend to be. I know nothing about medicine. I do know about electron flow though as being a key to life and determining factor in your health. By understanding where & why electron flow is blocked & impeded you can demystify any disease including Cancer. And knowing that free radicals steal electrons from healthy cells resulting in inflammation, the root of all diseases helps. Conversely if you understand hydration, electrolytes and muscle plyability in regards to electron flow you understand how a 44 year will be going for his 8th ring.
If you can understand this formula you can follow what I talk about.
Unimpeded electron flow = normal cell communication resulting in normal behavior = health. And conversely blocked electron flow = cell miscommunication resulting in cell malfunction and disease.

You dont see Bruce out there in the media a whole bunch. Im sure he could put himself out there more. I wonder if its calculated so to let Tom Brady get most of the highlight? Then it seems like Tom is the same. Hes not out there as much as he could be so to let the other players get well earned attention.
We have a very unselfish team. Very special group. Amazing that we were able to bring back almost all of them for another run!!
