Back To The Future For “Spoiled” Bucs Fans

When Joel Glazer came out yesterday and cautioned that there would likely be blackouts unless the unexpected happened and the Bucs sell 20,000+ more tickets a game, not everyone was feeling sorry for Bucs fans.
Vacation Man of Stalinist BSPN.com believes Bucs fans are spoiled.
The real surprise here is that it didn’t happen last year. The Bucs sold out all their home games during a 3-13 season, but there often were lots of empty seats, leading to speculation that the team bought up many unsold tickets to avoid blackouts.
Tampa Bay fans have been a bit spoiled in recent times because the team has been a winner through much of the Tony Dungy and Jon Gruden eras. But blackouts aren’t anything new in Tampa Bay. During some miserable seasons in the old Tampa Stadium, it wasn’t uncommon for the Buccaneers to draw only 30,000 to 40,000 fans.
Before you start lobbing grenades at Vacation Man, he speaks from experience. He was a Bucs beat writer during the Bucco Bruce Creamsicle days. Vacation Man also noted that Team Glazer doesn’t want blackouts any more than fans do, and that Team Glazer has a way of stopping the bleeding.

In regards to Raheem comparing this team to Dungy’s teams. You guys kill me!!!!!! And ofcourse EVERONE knew the kind of players Dungy had in his second year! Get REAL, you had no idea that Sapp, Brooks and Lynch would turn out to be Hall of Fame players. If you did you wouldn’t be typing these stupid replies, you would be a GM…. And your not!!!

Good luck with that Florida Girl! Culverhouse paid $16 million for the Bucs franchise. Malcom paid what was a record price of $193 million. Now his Sons are collecting close to $100 million per year just from TV Revenue, plus the profits from exuberant ticket prices. Malcom Glazer spent money and won a Super Bowl. His Sons take money and put nothing back. Yet this guy claims we Buc fans are spoiled. Yes, we are used to having a winner! But we have paid for that with our hard earned money. These Sons of Malcom have taken our money and gave us an amatuer coach & mediocre players in order to make even more money for themselves. So let the black-outs begin! Don’t spend money until they put a professional team back on the field! And don’t be too disappointed at the draft!

If the Glazers are paying for the lowest payroll for a team for the last 5 years. Then we should be the lowest ticket price in the NFL. But the Glazers think that Tampa is a town full of morons. They think they can just say , Oh just come to the stadium and watch rookies learn on the job.

All these Rah supporters should be full of confidence and filling up the stadium to watch the “growth” together.
Plus, all the team has to do, according to the Great Leader, is make up their minds to be better than everyone else. Why are they bothering with the draft? It sounds to me that all that is needed is for the team to attend a Tony Robbins gathering.
After the terrific start, like happened with Tony in his second year, ( to whom the Dream compares himself), I feel confident the stadium will be chuck full a bucs fans.

Team Glazer bought tickets last year. They should do it one more year to help get us fans through the 1st 2 years of the rebuilding project. By year 3, we should be competitive enough for sales to improve.

Yasinkas is out of line with his perception of “spoiled” Bucs fans. Were we spoiled by 13 consecutive double digit losing seasons from 1983 to 1996? Were we spoiled by the likes of Hugh Culverhouse, Leeman Bennett, Richard Williamson and Sam Wyche. Yes we had a run of success and one superbowl but common Yasinkas, your not talking about the 49er’s , Steelers or Patriots here. I think Buc fans have been more than patient over the years with all the crap they have been forced to endure!

Can someone please ask the Glazers when we can expect these dominating 10-12 years of Super Bowl contention, playoff victories, and always above 9-7 in the regular season, to begin?
I am sure everyone in Bucdom would like to know, in particular season ticket “Shareholders”.

Blackouts will free up more weekends for fishing trips. I can still listen to the game on the boat. Now that’s spoiled!

Thats what I figured.
Getting the Glazers or the Rah Koolaid drinkers to actually commit to specific win/loss standards to judge the “plan” is like turning the lights on in a room full of roaches.

We’re all used to losing with the Bucs, those dark years weren’t all that long ago. No rose colored glasses or anything here, but they do need to focus on drafting quality players. Now, have they done it in the last couple of years? Absolutely not. You see the results over the past few years. No one wanted to say rebuilding last year but that is clearly the case. Belive me, I’m not holding my breath that we’re going to the SuperBowl next year or any time in the near future, but I do think they will use this draft to buy additional key pieces of the chess set and get back into the competitive range in 2-3 years. Cherry kool-aid for everyone!
