Max Kellerman Admits He Was Wrong About Tom Brady

March 17th, 2021

Confession.

Yesterday as the daily hollering shows on sports networks began to rev up their morning routines, the topic of Bucs sack king Shaq Barrett re-signing was a popular talking point.

On one of BSPN’s morning hollering shows, “Last Take,” noted Tom Brady hater Max Kellerman had a confession to make.

Unlike what Kellerman has been pushing for years, Kellerman has seen the light. Like Joe, Kellerman has concluded that Tom Brady is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, even at age 43.

So when provocateur Molly Qerim asked who would lead the Bucs back to the Super Bowl in February 2022, Shaq’s defense or Brady’s offense, Kellerman selected Brady’s offense and admitted he had been terribly wrong about the park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback.

“You can game-manage your way to a Super Bowl if you have absurd weapons on offense and a great defense and a running game and you get a little lucky,” Kellerman said. “That’s not what I saw from Brady. I saw a great quarterback still. I just give it up. I think I was wrong and others were right when they said towards the end of his tenure in New England he typically didn’t have the weapons. It seemed to me he couldn’t do it anymore. Shorter and shorter passes, right? For fewer yards per attempt.

“But he missed receivers every which way, long, short, left, right. I thought, ‘The guy’s gotten old.’ Nope. He showed [with the Bucs] that was not the case.

“It is one thing to have an embarrassment of riches. It is another thing to use them competently. It’s another thing still to use them at a very high level which is what Brady did [with the Bucs]. I give it up. That’s why he threw 40 touchdowns last year. That’s why the Bucs had the third-highest scoring offense. And he had to do it in a COVID year, without a preseason, with a coach who seemed at the opposite offensive philosophy than he had.

“And you add to that, that AB [Antonio Brown] is going to have a whole season. Do you know how good Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are? If AB is healthy and acclimated, he is by far the best offensive weapon they have on the team. And I haven’t mentioned [Rob Gronkowski] Gronk or O.J. Howard who was wasn’t available because of injury or [Cameron] Brate.

“They have so many absurd weapons on offense. And given the level that Tom Brady is still playing at. Given what the offense did last year, if you make me choose between the offense and the defense as good as the defense is, [it is] the offense.”

Joe thinks Kellerman is onto something.

Just after the Super Bowl, Bucs quarterback coach Clyde Christensen appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” and said because of no offseason and Brady learning everything new, Christensen was confident saying the Bucs were eight more games away from have the offense peak.

When you look back and realize the Bucs scored at least 30 points in each of their postseason games and a coach saying the Bucs were eight more games away from peaking, that’s some scary stuff.

With Brady’s weapons Brady and offensive line, Joe doesn’t think Christensen was full of BS.

This team was all up arrows, before getting their season cut short by a Super Bowl (win). Moving ahead, the key will be: health (as always) and not letting a game get away during the big dance (playoffs). Hopefully, they will use the season well, in preparation for a run that should have them with a home field advantage. Teams won’t take them lightly. However, TB12 has been there; done that. And he’ll spread it around.

  2. Cobraboy Says:

My only concern is this team getting the Fat Head.

I’m confident Arians, Bowles, Leftwich, and Brady won’t let that happen, but it is a big concern.

If this team keeps egos in check and still has a burning need to win and prove something, this could be a most entertaining ride.

  3. Cobraboy Says:

This team will be the #1 target of every team they play. Every game will be the opponent’s Super Bowl.

Already Belichick is spending like a drunken sailor on shore leave for personal revenge.

  4. Chris Thomas from Heaven Says:

He triggers my sociopath alarm. Can’t even look at him

  5. Bird Says:

I give him credit. Almost all those guys are so cocky , they never admit when they are wrong. And most of the time , they are wrong

Steven a smith is supposed to be this basketball oracle of knowledge
That guy went on a stretch where he picked the wrong team in the nba finals year after year.

And they give these guys big bucks to constantly give their opinion which is basically 💩

  6. August 1976 Buc Says:

30+ avg last year per game, so 32-35 is not a crazy jump in avg, but it is most likely. And maybe 2-3times the Bucs score 50 points. This will be a historically good offense in 2021. With the leads they will have in many of the games, the defense is going to feast. It would be nice to see 60 sacks this next year with 15-20 from the big Shaq attack. Again the defense is going to feast with opponents down by double digits in the 4th Qtr of games. Fun times, the NFL is a Bucs World for at least 2021 and everyone else is living in it. Yea I said it lol GO BUCS!!! DOMINATE 2021!!!!

  7. zzbuc Says:

Really kellerman? Did you know the water is wet? Just another stupid guy playing character in sports Journalism…..How I miss the old school!!!!

  8. Wesley Says:

Max Kellerman is a freaking joke!! Get him off my damn t.v.!

  9. Wesley Says:

This is the same dipspit that thinks the NHL doesn’t have any fans. Meanwhile the company he works for just paid for NHL t.v. rights.

  10. Kentucky Buc Says:

The Bucs had a target on their back the moment they signed Brady last year. This year is no different. Means nothing.

  11. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Belichick is spending like a drunken sailor on shore leave not only for personal revenge, but because if he don’t win this year, he just might be out up in New England.
Fans up there are quite unhappy they allowed Brady to walk, especially when he comes down here, and wins a Super Bowl.

  12. Strix-on Says:

    Joe:

Just to show how important the draft is this year…no mention of running backs when discussing all these weapons.

Here’s to trading back a few spots and grabbing either Harris, Ettienne, or Williams!

I think about that a lot too. I remember seeing a doc many years ago about our last Super Bowl and Lynch said after the Super Bowl guys came into training camp with flashy cars and flashy jewelry and he knew they gotten big heads. He thought the leadership was strong enough to handle it, but it wasn’t.

Then yesterdays article about Kelce saying the Chiefs didn’t show up to play in our Super Bowl.

And now we’re becoming the darlings of the NFL media and thats not a good spot to be in. The media appointed champs almost never win the actual game.

Complacency and over confidence are real threats.

  14. Capt.Tim Says:

    A lot of Ifs.
But if Antonio Brown is back in shape, he is the best WR in the NFL.
Of course, he is a bit unhinged, and can blow it all in a second.
I hoping we resign him- and he gets the counciling that would help him.
The guy is an incredible talent.
With Brown, Evans, and Godwin- our WRs are unstoppable

  15. No Risk It No Biscuit Says:

Season ticket waiting list is going to be over 100,000 once again.

  16. geno711 Says:

I agree the offensive is better than the defense.
Even more reason to keep the defense at least pretty good.
    Got to sign Suh.

Don’t want an offense scoring 32 and a defense giving up 30.

  17. Marine Buc Says:

Seriously- who in the hell watches Max Kellerman? What a complete idiot and I can’t stand his voice or his squinty little face…

Just another example of Walt Disney garbage taking over sports.

I cancelled my cable long ago because of this type of BS.

    Turn Disney (ESPN) off!!!!

  18. Youngbucs Says:

Some people would rather continue to look and sound foolish. We have commenters here just like that. Just admit you were wrong best believe if I’m proven wrong I’ll admit it.

  19. SlyPirate Says:

    Well done, Kellerman.

These guys are paid to be Shockjocks that say controversial things that break through the noise.

The best way to deliver a falsehood is to deliver it between two truths …
    >Tom is great = True
    >AB is the best weapon = Controversial
    >Offense is better than the defense = Controversial
    >Lot’s of weapons = True

    Solid effort.

  20. Miller5252 Says:

Max seems to always be more wrong then right when it comes to football. I still think Tampa could very well be a 1-2 loss team this year and look out for records being broken by this offense. The Bucs could really go down this year as an all time great offense.

  21. Rod Munch Says:

Jesus Christ people. We went from being ecstatic to even being in the playoffs, to people now thinking a 13-3 season would be a disappointment.

    Get a grip people.

  22. PassingThru Says:

Kellerman is in the business of selling ears and eyeballs to advertisers. Kellerman pretends to be a Brady-hater, it’s an act. He doesn’t love, like, dislike, or hate Brady. It’s no different than a pro wrestling gimmick.

  23. Rayjay1122 Says:

    19-0

  24. Kentucky Buc Says:

Kellerman hit the point of no return. Also known as Rob Parker land. Parker literally ruined his career with nonsense and going to far. Methinks Kellerman didn’t want to fall off the analyst cliff like Parker.

  25. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

It took only 7 SB wins for this douche to realize Brady can play. Well at least he is on the right side now. If Brady can turn Kellerman he can surely turn Oneilyall.

  26. REDZONE BA Says:

Dayam….17 games in 2021 – Maybe best roster EVER! We just might win all of them on way to SB#3.

  27. Oneilbuc Says:

Listnfrmafar. Superbowls are teams accomplishments not quarterbacks . You can’t make superbowls about one guy . I know the media does that in today’s football because they push the quarterback position and they want the quarterback to be the hero of the game . But I’ve been watching football a long time and plus I played football. Then yall talking about one position a position that needs every thing to go right for him. Without a good offensive line he can’t throw the ball . Without wr getting open he still can’t throw the ball . Brady can’t move even if the play brakes down . And then he only plays on side of the ball. So again to me not to you if their is a such thing as a goat in team sports when comes to football that’s Lawrence Taylor . He dominated games regardless how bad his defenses were . Even when the defensive line was bad in New York he still was a MVP plus rookie of the year. Lawrence Taylor is the best football player to ever play in the NFL if their is a such thing as a goat .
