Raheem The Dream And Mark Dominik Are Safe
March 24th, 2010Perhaps lost amid Bucs president Joel Glazer’s chat with the Bucs pen and mic club — for some strange reason the Lakeland Ledger’s Rick Brown was not allowed access — was that Glazer gave Bucs head coach Raheem the Dream and general manager Mark Dominik votes of confidence.
In short, unless the team implodes, Dominik and Raheem the Dream are safe for the time being, so reports The Mad Twitterer of the St. Petersburg Times.
Despite going 3-13, both could be safe for at least a few more seasons as long as they remain committed and execute a rebuilding plan formulated by the Glazer family.
“They know our thinking,” Glazer said. “We’ve had long talks about this. And really, the general message is: You think long-term, we think long-term. It’s plain and simple. You start thinking short-term, we start thinking short term.
“Everyone buys into this plan. I always ask, “Does everyone have the stomach for this because there’s a lot you’ve got to endure early on.”
Well, now that that’s out of the way, we can all concentrate on the draft, can’t we?

Joe it may look like you have a bunch of new followers in a few years by the different names you see posting on the boards. But, dont be fooled. its the same readers with different names who now support Rah and Dom, not Radio and Dummynick.

So, it’s no longer about winning and losing? You get to keep your job as long as you agree with and/or think like the owners.

Nick:
So long as they keep coming back. 🙂

This kind of a news is not supposed to come outside the OBP. Building through draft is a bigger gamble than winning through free agency, teams miss more than hit.
If the team looks bad and does not even compete in majority of the games next season there is a good chance Dom and Rah are still not going anywhere and fans would give up on the team. What we need is a coach that can get maximum out of players and a GM that drafts very well. We will see how things go, but if many drafted turn out to be busts we are damned for a lonnng time.

That’s depressing…
They have me thinking long term now too… Like what am I going to do on my Sundays now that The Bucs will be blacked out for the next few seasons, until Rah is gone. I’m sure my wife will be glad to have the TV back on Sundays, but I’m pretty sad about it.

thedeej3000:
Joe totally understands where you are coming from. Joe’s only advice would be — Joe knows this may be heresy — is to find a secondary team to watch on NFL Sunday Ticket when the Bucs are home. Then later that night you can watch the Bucs game on NFL.com.
March 24th, 2010 at 5:10 pm
…but then you see the scores on the ticker and know who won. You pretty much have to just not watch football at all or you’ll ruin the Bucs game for yourself. Sucks.
March 24th, 2010 at 5:12 pm
…. You know I have to say a fan has to stick with there team no matter what…. Look at the lions when they went 0 and 16. Also any job you work its all about making the owners or managers happy
March 24th, 2010 at 5:29 pm
I go back to the days of Spurrier & Huff, & “Why not Minot?”, when we cheered for things like first downs & completed passes. So I am patient. Unhappy a lot during the season, but patient.Johnson & Aikman were 1-15 their first season.
March 24th, 2010 at 5:41 pm
Gene Deckerhoff shall blast through my speakers once again! Unfortunately I cannot get NFL Sunday Ticket because my apartment doesn’t face the satellite, but I do have NFL REDZONE!!!! At least I’ll see the Bucs score…that’s if we get better WRs.
Thank God fantasy football can’t be blacked out.
March 24th, 2010 at 5:43 pm
True Jdouble, but at least you will know why the outcome played out the way it did.
Joe actually stomached his way through the first half of the 1999 NFC championship game on hulu.com last night.
Wow, so many wasted opportunities in that game.
March 24th, 2010 at 5:49 pm
It really is sad that all the fans are being put through this. It didn’t have to be this way. Not at all. This is the hand the owners have intentionally decided to deal the fans.
March 24th, 2010 at 5:57 pm
they are safe so long as they think like we think. sounds like communism.
also supports my theory that gruden and allen were fired b/c they weren’t sheep and thought about the short-term -winning every year.
don’t be surprised if long-term turns out to mean a play for L.A. that may be the only way these guys can get out of their billion dollar hole.
March 24th, 2010 at 6:10 pm
I hear you, Mike J – I remember cheering for 1st downs and listening to Mark Champion announce on the radio. You’d have thought that every play the Bucs made was the best play of the week with him.
Incidentally, I have a grandson who is a huge Lions fan and despite the past several years is convinced they’ll be in the Superbowl every year. Now he’s a true fan.
March 24th, 2010 at 6:11 pm
if the fans have to live through Rah and Dominik, having black outs is the best thing.. then we won’t feel guilty cause we didn’t watch a bunch of inexperienced morons ruining my team.

“if the fans have to live through Rah and Dominik, having black outs is the best thing.. then we won’t feel guilty cause we didn’t watch a bunch of inexperienced morons ruining my team.”
Nice one!
Now I don’t have to post any comments because that says it all!
March 24th, 2010 at 6:48 pm
Wow, that has to be the most depressing thing I have read yet on Joebucsfan.com.
I haven’t felt this bad since Bo Jackson decided to play for the Royals.
I’m stunned.
March 24th, 2010 at 6:54 pm
larryed , who was the Bucs’ first radio play-by-play guy?? (Incidentally, I liked Champion better than Deckerhoff, to whom I have to listen twice a weekend many times in the fall.)
Some reason for hope: (in the context of the rumored McNabb deal) ” The No. 33 pick, especially in a rich draft that contains at least 50 players wearing first-round grades, is a highly valuable selection.”
http://www.rotoworld.com/Content/playernews.aspx?sport=NFL, a very bottom-line place.

The owner has a plan he wants implemented. This is their team and they want to move thru the draft. Do not like their plan…don’t buy in sit home. This is plan is a hell of a lot better then spending big bucks on a bunch of broken down 30+ players.
March 24th, 2010 at 8:57 pm
@buceyebob: Come on dude, people aren’t saying sign a bunch of broken down 30+ players. Even in a poor year for free agency, you can’t tell me there aren’t players out there who can improve a 3-13 team. Also, how about signing some of our own free agents — that’s part of “the plan”, right?

Face first slide into Home works every time.
Not!
Your Out!!!

I guess the interpretation for this article is; Morris & Dominik are safe as long as they 1) stay (committed) Keep their mouth shut & keep saying what they are being told to say to the public as to why they aren’t trying to win. And, 2) so along with (the plan) to save all the money they can so the Glazer Boys can get out of the financial hole they dug for themselves with ManU. If both of them do that they can keep getting paid to do jobs that neither of them are Qualified to do.
