“I Had Like $7 In My Bank Account”
February 11th, 2021A lot happened in the past year for us all. For Bucs right tackle Tristan Wirfs, his world has turned upside down and all for the better.
Since The Sickness hit the world, the NFL has kept reporters locked out of team facilities. Oh, sure there are Zoom conference calls, but that’s about it. That changed yesterday at the Bucs’ boat parade and celebration when reporters were allowed to speak with players.
Hey, the season is over. So what if someone gets The Sickness. No games to miss.
Grace Remington of WTSP-TV Channel 10 may be the first local reporter to get a face-to-face, one-on-one interview with the future (?) star right tackle of the Bucs.
Last February, Wirfs noted he barely had cash to eat while still in frosty Iowa getting ready for the combine. Fast-forward 12 months and Wirfs is celebrating with his new Bucs teammates at a Super Bowl victory boat parade in sunny, warm Florida.
Oh, and after his first year, Wirfs is widely regarded as one of the best right tackles in the NFL if not the best.
Wirfs explained to Remington just how different and wild the past year has been. Safe to say Wirfs likes Chipotle.
Tristan Wirfs: elite tackle and elite human
I reminded him he was a college kid a year ago. “Yeah, I had like 7 bucks in my bank account. I was, like, seeing if I could go to Chipotle or not. Now I have a big fat ring on my finger.” #GoBucs @TristanWirfs74 pic.twitter.com/Uu6TXcdkZB

This guy is INCREDIBLE!

Joe:
You referenced him as a “right guard” in the second sentence. Just an FYI.

Sounds like he put down a few as well.

Wirfs is a awesome, but that line came together, that’s what AP sees and knows

should have been rookie of the year, and all pro, there is no doubt in my mind that this kid, is the best right tackle in the game, allowed one sack all year, started every game, mauler in the run support, right on tristan bravo, stay healthy son, best of luck to ya

How do you like that. The guy could have gotten free food (crab legs?) anywhere in Iowa City and he was too humble to do it.

If only the Bucs could get some pro bowl players. They only had one worthy this year…..SMH

My only question is did John Lynch snooker us out of a draft pick pretending he needed a tackle, when secretly he had just signed Trent Williams. Some friend.

Agencies cannot “float” college players money while they’re still in college playing ball.
February 11th, 2021 at 11:33 am
Pro Bowl for the most part is nothing more than a popularity contest.
February 11th, 2021 at 11:40 am
“Snooker?” Come on. It wasn’t just the Bucs calling Lynch about that pick.
Besides, the Bucs just won a Super Bowl by being snookered. Hope the Bucs get robbed like that each year.

God is good! Happy for you tristan!!!

How’s 12 million going to sound?
February 11th, 2021 at 3:15 pm
Should of gotten some votes for offensive rookie of the year. First two picks were lights out, future all pros and Tyler Johnson and Ke’Shawn Vaughn look like ballers that will be more than ready when necessary.

One of the good guys. I like the kid.

_________
100% incorrect. Technically, signing with an agent ends a college athlete’s eligibility. After that point they can get and receive whatever they want.

The Bucs have found the formula for 1st round picks. Physical, athletic freaks who love the game of football!
February 11th, 2021 at 9:12 pm
What a WASTE of a 4th round pick to move up one spot and get him though!!!
Haha. Joking. Where are all those knuckleheads now that were Licht got duped?
