Rob Gronkowski Love For Byron Leftwich Goes Back 20 Years

Growing up five minutes from the University of Buffalo in New York, Rob Gronkowski watched their football games and became a fan of his new boss Byron Leftwich.
Leftwich is a former Marshall University Thundering Herd quarterback and two-time Mid-American Conference player of the year, former conference members with the University of Buffalo. Back when Leftwich was a college superstar, young schoolboy Gronk was a huge MAC fan and a big admirer of Leftwich.
This was all news to Joe, as Gronk explained it during an interview at Disney World yesterday on Fox Sports. Gronk also is a huge fan of Leftwich the coach.
“He’s an unbelievable coach and on top of it he’s a great guy. I just love his coaching style. I love his energy; it’s just super-positive,” Gronk said, adding Leftwich is never too high or too low.
“The guy is just an amazing dude and he’s there for the players. I love him, man. He did such a great job handling this team. I mean, look at all the guys on this offense. That’s a tough task to do, you know, to keep everyone in line. Byron, he couldn’t be a better guy to be in that situation.”
Lots of love for Leftwich among players and, of course, Bucco Bruce Arians believes he’s a true rock star young coach. Thank goodness he is, since Arians says, “I don’t do sh**, really.”

Pretty obvious brady and gronk needed to get away from belicheat
I mean i get the championship organization mindset but they were the no fun league. Only serious all the time. Sounds like brady and gronk stoked to be in tampa bay and still able to win a championship.

Leftwich was a great QB in college. If he had had someone to straighten out his delivery, he would have been a better NFL QB.

Not only was Leftwich a great QB in college, he was also a number one draft pick as well!
His long windup is what doomed him. He had an absolute Cannon of an arm, if he could wind up.

Byron makes it fun again, Gronk seemed so much healthier than ever, he finished out the extended season in tip top form as opposed to wearing the harness and braces.

I’ll admit earlier in the season I didn’t think this would happen with BA or BL. Thought they were too stubborn to change. I’m really happy to eat crow!

BL seems like a real nice guy tasked with implementing BA’s high-risk offense dedicated to the proposition that you slow the pass rush by running up the middle on every first down. This worked rather poorly, especially with receivers new to TB seeing routes differently. It’s pretty clear that in addition to increased familiarity, TB was allowed to implement alot more of his ideas after the bye, and play-action, screens, crossing routes shallow will be more used going forward. I expect BL’s easygoing personality will be a good fit for mediating between the opinionated BA and TB.
