Not every head coach knows how to manage players.
Joe is not exaggerating. Consider what Mike Evans said last week. Many NFL coaches can’t even relate to their best players.
Bucco Bruce Arians goes well beyond the basics. He works very hard at taking care of veteran players while balancing pushing young players to play through injuries, as long as doctors they have a green light from doctors to get on the field.
It’s an underappreciated NFL coaching skill, and Arians proved he deserves an A+ this season.
Rob Gronkowski quit football because his body was broken down and he hadn’t played a full season since 2011, until this year. Some of that is luck, sure, but some of it is Arians not overusing or overworking Gronk. Arians has said multiple times that he’s had to dial Gronk back in practice.
And then there’s JPP. The guy has some sort of chronic knee issue. He faded in the final quarter of the 2018 season, his first in Tampa. Then after breaking his neck in May of 2019 season, JPP came back strong last season in October, but Joe was skeptical how JPP would hold up under a full season this year.
Arians managed JPP’s practice time with regular days off and more, and Arians often said one of primary jobs is getting JPP to gameday ready. The result was JPP beasting through a 20-game season, especially in the playoffs. Yeah, there were a couple of games where JPP didn’t look healthy, but the total product was fantastic. He earned his Pro Bowl honor.
Joe realizes JPP and Gronk or two freakish and dedicated athletes, but that doesn’t take away from how Arians managed their care.
Nobody’s any good on the bench.

A classic football adage (one that Joe likes) is “games are decided in the trenches.” I think it is true – and was true yesterday. Stats: Brady suffered hurries on 4 of his 30 throws; the KC QB suffered hurries on 29 of his 56 – a super bowl record. That is winning the war in the trenches! And BA keeping the linemen healthy was a big part of that.

Interesting fact that was announced yesterday during the game.
Tampa Bay has the lowest winning percentage of any team in the 4 major sports.
Brady has the highest winning percentage of any player in the 4 major sports.
Bad news from all this…..Bucs will be picking last in the draft…..for some reason, I am ok with this.

I just want to say former Tampa Bay times writer Thomas Bassinger deserves to be clowned on for how much he completely trashed this team all the time some just but mostly unjust.
He would find every opportunity to trash on this team and is silent when they won the NFC championship and Super bowl.

Naw it’s Brady. Arians and Co. took a gravy train full of biscuits to the promise land on Brady back. But…… When you win a SB everything that happened was perfect. Even Godwins drops were perfect. Every sack that we didn’t get was good job. Every miss tackle , turnover , miss fg was perfect. All the stars aligned

Ha, ha, ha,… ! I agree with tou Alabama! Ours BUCS won the SB! I can’t care less about the position to draft this year,… heck! I can’t care less about it if for the next 10 years we win a SB! And forever at that!

Question for anyone. NFL said no to the firing off of the cannon during the SUPER BOWL so then what was up with the WAR DRUMS last night? Heard those drums 3 or 4 times

I’m not complaining, but the Bucs need to figure out the WR position, every year the team loses starters for multiple games. If they’re doing well with most of the team that isn’t the WR group, what is different? Or is it just luck?

The ultimate challenge – and its achievable – win three straight Super Bowls. Guys need to take a little less, attract guys that want a ring more than money. Get focused and show out. This team can do it!

Last season Evans and Godwin had to play so much that they both broke down before the end of the season, so I would say the personal touch of Arians works.
Hope the team can hold together next season, too many free agents that need contracts.
If brady plays again, we should be good.

I can imagine BA taking the time to sit down with Keyshawn Vaughn….
“Son, I simply had to make a difficult decision for the SB as far as RB……as you can see, even though Shady suited up, he didn’t play. If you ask me if the fumble vs WFT mattered, I’d have to say yes it did….that’s football.
But next year, you’ll likely get a tremendous opportunity to play….look at Rojo’s progress. Hang in there, work hard in the off season….I have faith in you….have faith in yourself”

Heard BA say JPP doesn’t need to practice all the time, he knows what he’s doing. ( it’s obvious JPP does have a idea of what he is doing) I mean you blow half your hand off and then break your neck and can still get after the QB in the NFL, you A bad dude!! But I wonder about the GOAT? Man didn’t miss one snap this entire year. Far as we know he never even skipped a rep all year in practice. Goat said and it’s really common football knowledge YOU PLAY ON SUNDAYS HOW YOU PRACTICED ALL WEEK. Imagine telling the Goat to take a practice off cause you deserve it, you got this Tom, your the Goat. Wouldn’t happen!!!

Ok thanks. Yeah I’ve heard that Warchant for the last 28 years, my wife went to FSU, and I hate it. They took everything away from the Washington football team in regards to their whole identity but the Chiefs get a pass? Oh well your right it seemed to help the Bucs more than it did them

Not sure how you can compare the two. One isn’t exactly a name of honor. The other is sort of a term of nobility. What should the Chiefs change their name to, Squaws? If “Chiefs” is now bad, what next, Los Angeles Kings?

Yes what a game what a feeling, now we have a new moniker for ray jay, THEE LICHT HOUSE, sure beats the hell out of the den of depression, we have our 2nd lombardi, we have THEE LORD OF THE RINGS for at the very least 1 more season and maybe, ssshhhh ( longer) we have a secondary that are playing fast and off each other, tipped balls and int’s and turnovers galore, we have 2 very capable RBs, an offensive line that keep our QB clean, all world receivers, and a fierce pas rush, now jason do your thing and see if we can keep this going
