So what did Tom Brady say, if anything, to his Buccaneers before yesterday’s Super Bowl hammering of the dazed and confused Chiefs yesterday?
Joe’s got an answer.
Ndamukong Suh was a guest on CBS This Morning and, of course, he was asked about the Bucs’ thrilling win, Suh’s first Super Bowl “W.”
Suh is big-time happy and said Tom Brady owed him after taking one from him two years ago when Suh played for the Rams.
The iconic defensive tackle was asked about Brady and offered a peak into Brady’s pregame address to the team. It left a mark on 34-year-old Suh, who is a very savvy and sophisticated cat, and not the easiest to impress.
“Tom is an incredible leader. I wish you guys could have been in that locker room at the beginning of that game, just how he talked about honor and the ability to win this game and the people around you and yourself will be honored for years to come and forever more,” Suh said.
“And so it was exciting to have a guy like that to be able to have that type of speech and know he’s been in those situations before. So you really take it to heart and know what to do and go out there execute. I mean, he’s one of the most humble guys and the ultimate competitor.”
Joe hopes the Bucs’ in-house video team got ahold of that speech and it’s part of a cool video later this month.

I hope the Joes will keep us aware of any great NFL Films clips come out with audio. When those are good, they really give us a window into the game that we seldom get.

Coaches can’t make those kinds of speeches unless they are really into the player’s heads. A fellow player, a guy all look up to, can. And who better than the GOAT?
The bigger question: can the GOAT influence cap/team friendly dealios from the key FA’s for another run?

I think about dudes like Stinnie. Wow he really really stepped up when it mattered–played only in the playoffs and performed admirably–glad he gets a well deserved ring and Cappa who played all season admirably and has a broke ankle- he gets a ring too–awesome all these guys contributed. Proud of this team.

The Brady GOAT effect more than offsets the low draft order and salary cap. If you want a chance to get a ring (or another one) you give a home team discount. If you want to chance the money – you are gone.

@ King C & CO: yeah, some tough decisions to be made. For sure someone will get franchised.
But it will take a miracle to keep them all.
I prefer keeping the D together. Skill guys are easier to come by. I’d sorely hate to lose Godwin (I’d be surprised if he’s gone), but would feel even worse if Johnson & Miller weren’t on the roster.
Thing is, Godwin really slipped the last part of the season. I hope he was just suffering nagging injuries, like the finger. I hope it’s nothing chronic.

Absolutely, Stinnie stepped up in a HUGE way. Cappa is terrific, but the O hardly skipped a beat with Stinnie at RG.

You can actually see the difference when AB makes a catch , he’s the real deal for sure. Loved the move he made on Mathieu, left him in the dust. Not bad for a guy with a bad knee. Listening to all the KC excuses this morning. They took Bucs too lightly and got their ass kicked for it. Bucs SB CHAMPIONS!!!

Time to bring on the plates of crow for me. I wasn’t a fan of signing Brady, didn’t have faith in the coaching staff but they got us a ring. Shout out to Brady for putting his foot in everybody’s ass after the bye week and for the defense showing up Sunday. And finally, John Lynch got into Canton! Does anyone have any beer recommendations for this crow lol

AB is attached at the hip to Brady, so he will be back for cheap because no other teams are going to want to pay him after the Raiders debacle.
Think of all the team like Philly who have low WR talent.
Unless CG’s agent is dumb, the starting bid will be the contract KC gave to Watkins.
The Bucs don’t have that kind of cap space, and Nobody franchises no.2 WRs,

I agree. They have the talent to go deep and strike quick. They can dink and dunk down the field. They can run the ball. They are able to control the clock or strike fast.
And that doesn’t even touch on how the defense is just getting better and better

Agree with keeping defense together. Howard has gotta be hungry after missing the season. Poor guy. If we can keep most of d together we really just need to add youth to the edge rusher/dline. Otherwise get a receiving back and may have to plan to replace Godwin..
Was really hoping Hudson would get that TD… I feel good about him being molded into brate clone going forward. Brady just overthrew.a bit

This should be a nobrainer for Licht. You always value pass rushers over wide outs.
Keep Shaq and JPP by any means necessary. Licht is great at finding new WR’s we dont even need Godwin.

Here is the problem we have going forward & Stinnie is a good example.
He is a FA & his 2020 salary is $750,000….
Surely there is a team that would sign him for $3 mil…..could we?….Probably if we don’t bring back Joe Haeg….but Haeg is also a FA.
We have so many FAs to sign and not enough money…
Everybody says….”just franchise them”…..well..you can only franchise one and the WR franchise salary is 16 mil….his 2020 salary was $2.3 mil…..
That’s a $14 mil raise…
We just don’t have the money to resign all of our FAs no matter what sort of tricks are up Licht’s sleeve…
We will probably have to let either Godwin or Shaq go to make things work….I hate it….but if that is the case….I’d trade Evans & get a high draft pick…..franchise Godwin & sign a team friendly long-term deal with Shaq.

I think they sign all of them back.
Brown will probably take a big contract somewhere Fournette I would love to see him splitting time with Jones next year but I think he will take a contract somewhere.

I didn’t think th4e Bucs would take many downfield shots. Their D gameplan was (like the Bucs) to prevent the deep ball. And from where I sat that was 100% fine by me.
So the Bucs ran down their throat and sliced them with play-action. Just perfect, take what is given. And that frustrated the hell out of the Chefs.
I have said it a bazillion times: games are won at the LoS, and this one was no different. The Bucs flat-out owned the LoS on both sides of the ball. The rest is just filler.
My game plan was to run the ball, win the LoS, and pressure Mahomes. That’s what the Bucs did, and it worked.

I don’t care what anybody says, the Chiefs won. Trust the plan. When everything comes out, the Chiefs will be champs again.
The commissioner can overturn the results.
The Bucs drink the blood of children and are part of cabal of international sex traffickers. In fact, the headquarters of this operation is at One Buc Place. Let’s storm the building and expose the evidence.
A few of those Bucs touchdowns were scored by dead people.
Commissioner Goodell, the entire NFL deep state, and Tom Brady (who is a child molester) in particular are conspiring to hide the evidence that the Bucs stole the game.
If the outcome of this game stands, America is gone.
We must invade NFL headquarters to overturn this game and install Chiefs as NFL champs.

Prediction: Bucs keep Brown and lose Godwin. I don’t like it, but would be totally fine with that.
I like Godwin—a LOT—but as a player Brown > Godwin.
Of course, Brown is gonna have a rocky legal offseason, and who knows where that ends…

I don’t think it’s clear that Brown > Godwin when all things are taken into account. Godwin is younger, humbler, and a team player. If you sign him to a long term contract, he won’t disappoint you. If you were to sign AB to a contract with guaranteed money, it’s almost certain you’d end up regretting it. Cancerous personalities (like AB) can only be kept in check when their career is in jeopardy. If he wanted to take a below-market contract without guaranteed money, okay… but I’d still rather have Godwin.

Last night’s offense looks similarly like the Patriots. Dink and dunk and run the ball, eat as much time as possible. I prefer to sign Shaq than Goodwin, since we still have miller and Johnson to take the place of Godwin. AB we can keep since he only wants to play with Brady and another ring and probably get him in a good bargain.

We are now tied with the Ravens and Chiefs with 2 SB wins. One more moves us into the top 10 where we can perhaps remain. Tom Brady came to the worst franchise in all of pro sports and turned us into winners.

@windbaggery: you are under the assumption what we’ve seen in AB is not a behavioral change, just one motivated by $$$.
I am not 100% convinced of that.
I will trust Brady to make informed personnel decisions on players that directly impact the O. He trusts AB, and I trust Brady.
Don’t get me wrong: I really like Godwin, and agree with what you claim, younger, etc. But he hasn’t made his big $$$ yet, and Brown has.
I’m not sure the Bucs can afford Godwin, but possibly they can afford AB…..IF he wants to play with Brady. Not to mention Johnson and Miller are waiting in the wings.
In a perfect cap world, the Bucs keep both AB and Godwin, but the world is not perfect.

The problem to retain all our players is the new lower cap $. What will be exactly this cap? We don’t know it yet. I would love to keep everybody. But, be realistic, it will not happen. Why?
1-Some players will want a big raise( Their second contract after a rookie one, and their first with big $,…) And it’s normal.
2-Players from a SB win are in demand by all the others teams.
3-History tells us that after a SB win many unhappy players want to change team for more $, and many players deserve it!
4-For some players, one year older makes it difficult for them to make the roaster of a true contender, and they know it,… or their coachs know it.
5-Tne salary cap will be lower next year.
But,… as long as we stay balanced in the choices: Def=Off,…
Everything will be fine, because our core is strong!

On the AB vs Godwin – Godwin all the way. AB is 32 and can hit a wall pretty soon. His position and skillset rely on speed. 32 is borderline old for that.

What a performance, I have been a Brady mega fan for his entire career and the speech he gave yesterday before the game sounds reminiscent of the speech prior to super bowl 49 when he talked about how if they win this game they would be honored and their families would be honored. It was a great speech might as well go back to it once more

On the AB vs Godwin…….you can’t evaluate that without adding Evans into the mix…..I hate it, but we get nothing (maybe comp pick) if AB or Godwin leave in FA…..but we would get a decent pick for Evans…..un-thinkable….perhaps….but so is losing Godwin.

Tom is already planning- and working on -the next one. He’s already on…even why TB fans are celebrating. If this team kept playing, they would get even better. It’s almost a shame that the season stopped. Watch them plug more players into this team. Watch key players become available…kinda like this season. Next season is already happening…
