The Bucs are here. On American sports’ ultimate stage.
Now, how does the curtain close? We will find out later tonight.
But here we are. Super Bowl Sunday. And the Bucs — the Bucs! — are 60 minutes of good football away from being champions.
Joe swears this is some dream. How can this be? Less than a year ago people were screaming to get rid of the quarterback and the Bucs had yet another losing season. Garbage running attack. Shaky pass defense. Quarterback conundrum.
And yet here the Bucs are, in less than a year. This is just surreal. Led by a 43-year old quarterback. Wait, what?
“The Day of Days.” It is the title of the second episode of “Band of Brothers,” the greatest thing HBO ever produced (and yes that includes “The Sopranos” — which Joe loved.)
“Day of Days” told the story of the famed 101st Airborne parachuting into France on D-Day. It is not hyperbole to say that day, June 6, 1944, was the most important day of the world. It began the liberation of a continent.
Now Joe isn’t stupid enough to suggest football is like war. Joe is not Woody Hayes who thought he was George Patton leading troops on a mad dash through France.
When it comes to the NFL, no days are as big as the Super Bowl. And for the victors, it is the pinnacle of their professional lives.
Do yourself proud, Bucs. Don’t just be happy with being part of history, playing in your home stadium. Win the damn thing and become football immortals.
And if the Bucs do that, it will truly be a Day of Days for the Bucs franchise.

13 years of struggling to win 10, 9, and even 6 games.
We are in the Super Bowl today? At home? This fact has yet to set in for this Bucs fan who started loving this team at 7yo in 1990.

Thanks MG, that is bc of my awesome wife. When we won the NFC game, she bought tickets and surprised me. SOOOOOOOOO EXCITED! Been a Bucs fan since well before our first SB, about ’91. Watched a LOT of bad Bucs teams, but now its all worth it.
@Bird, weather is cloudy right now, but supposed to clear up and be great weather for the game, about 70 degrees at game time.

Humidity may work in Bucs favor. I am assuming field will be soft. That hurts pass rush, also receivers cutting and defending. Do they cover the field when it rains?

My Bucs brethren….it is FATE. it’s DESTINY! The Football gods and the universe DEMAND it!
We have been building to this moment for the last few years. It’s all been a set up for the greatest single story story the NFL has seen. It’s a Hollywood script that has already been written. All that remains is to act out the final scene.
This season WILL be made into a movie! It’s the ultimate redemption story, starring the once great QB, who was written off as too old and a “system” guy, who after 20 years, goes to the laughing stock team with the crazy coach. But all the adversity they have to face threatens to derail experiment….until finally near the end of the season, they all come together and go on a tear that takes them on the road for 3 straight playoff games…who few people thought they would win…all the way back to their home stadium for a SuperBowl against the unstoppable juggernaut…the team with the hot young QB…who won the big game the year before! The KC Chiefs!
I’m telling you all! This has been preordained! The greatest underdog story of all time is unfolding before our eyes! And later this evening, as the Bucs hoist the Lombardi Trophy over their heads in celebration, and TB12 smiles as they ask him how sweet it is to get ring #7, Hollywood screenwriters will already be pitching their scripts to studios and talking about who they would cast as Brady, Gronk, BA and Mike Evans!

Band of brothers was great. Sopranos was alright too, but The Wire was epic. They’re all top 3 and I can’t disagree with anyone who wants to shuffle the order based on their preference.
