Kurt Warner Has Newfound Respect For Tom Brady

Major props for Bucs QB.
Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner sort of has an idea what park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady has gone through this year.
Of course Brady, with no OTAs, minicamps or (thank God!) no preseason games transformed the Bucs from the NFL’s fire hydrant in a dog park into one win from a Super Bowl championship.
Warner himself was no stranger to new teams. He went from being Eli Manning’s caretaker to taking over the Arizona Cardinals and coming a whisker away from beating the Steelers and their offensive coordinator Bruce Arians in Tampa.
Talking to fetching Colleen Wolfe of NFL Network on a set near the water in downtown Tampa — what, NFL Network, Wolfe is cheaper to fly in cross country from Los Angeles but Kay Adams can’t hop a two-hour flight? — Warner explained he’s got even more respect for how Brady turned about the Bucs with so little time.
“The presence he brings to an organization,” Warner said of Brady’s influence in a locker room. “The way he lifts a culture of an organization that has been losing for a long time… it just stacks on top of what I already felt about Tom Brady.”
Warner said he is convinced the Bucs, before Brady first walked into the locker room, simply did not believe they could win. So they were behind the 8-ball mentally before a season would kick off.
Brady changed that.

I am equally impressed. I have to admit that what he has done is nothing short of miraculous. As many of you know I’ve been a Jameis Winston supporter. I believedin his upside. I still do actually, but having seen this in person, it’s undeniable the difference at QB has made. WOW.

I also eat my words about B.A. I used to call him B.S. and thought he was lazy and sloppy. I ddn’t like the way they handled Winston leaving the team. Still don’t, but I’m good with it because obviously those choices were all for the best.
So I was wrong, and I’m glad. Very excited for this game. Bucs fan since 86 and must admit, I had grown cynical and have had PTSD for many years up until this seasons bye week….
I think we can actually whip this other team pretty good if we show up and play our game. ME13 go have big game for your legacy!! As our new leader likes to say,

Seven wins in a row, all the team needs to do is sink the pesky eightball. Offense and Defense are coming together at the right time. Special teams needs
to up their game on Hardeman and the Chiefs return game. Wouldn’t surprise me
if Watkins and Hardeman are also part of Chiefs offensive game plan since there will be a concerted effort to shut down Hill and Kelce.

We must never forget the truth is that Winston got himself into trouble off the field…during the first period after his first season that he wasn’t supervised, and doing the same type of stuff folks talked/worried about with him coming out of FSU. On the field, he was known to take excessive risks and make too many mistakes in turning the ball over. He was not a leader, didn’t make people around him better, didn’t play up to snuff, didn’t portray the image the Bucs needed as their face of the franchise. Enter the GOAT, for a price cheaper, with loads more of experience, maturity, and better head on his shoulders, and basically one man did change it up. Sure, for years there were guys like Gerald McCoy, who was a really good player for most of his years here, but who just didn’t seems to inspire others. So, guys like JPP changed that. The Bucs needed to be much better with their first rouind picks in particular. Winston, Martin, Hargraves, McCoy versus Evans, White, Vea. Wirfs. Oh what a difference. Knowing Licht didn’t draft all of these guys, maybe he surely learned from some of the Bucs mistakes. But truth be told, it sometimes takes a while to figure out. Not saying McCoy was a mistake, but he was not up to the standards met of the last few years.

I believe we will win sunday, everything coming together at the right time, the fairytale story checks out, many documentaries will be made out of this (season). It just has to be, for us, for the NFL, for the history books. Its like a movie!

“I didn’t like the way they handled Winston leaving the team.” – No relationship ends beautifully. When it’s over, it’s over. How do you propose they handle it? A formal send off? A parade? A 30 second commercial thanking him for quarterbacking a perpetual losing team? Legends, deep rooted in the community get a dignified send off – thats it. Other than that, it’s a business. Generally, i’m nitpicking a tad because I otherwise liked your post. Glad you made it to the other side. The winning side.

I had noted here on this website that some Bucs fans were so starved, so deprived of winning for so long, they were openly saying they were happy with just a wild card spot, win or lose. Talk like that made me shake my head. With this roster, a one and done would clearly have not been an acceptable goal; but especially the way they played against WAS (pretty badly in several areas), I was worried about them getting much farther. But then it all started clicking with consistency, not just every other game, every other quarter. SB Champs or bust…that’s the goal now, and it’s realistic and attainable. At worst, they are NFC Champs…but that’s not good enough.
And we saw yesterday something Joe wrote here about post-game emotions, that being NFC Champs is NOT good enough for the TB12 GOAT. That’s the way to be. Take it all! My hope after they win the SB is that Brady comes back next year and the Bucs can draft a developmental QB to be under Brady for at least a year. They need to capture that lightning in a bottle and put it in future players.

@gofortheface30…the Bucs are not known for giving legends a “dignified send off”…didn’t do it with Brooks or Lynch. I would agree that they owed Winston nothing, but we do have some history with crap decision making when it comes to some of our veterans

Roy, why shake your head at people accepting just a playoff berth and one and done or perhaps getting by the DC club and losing? I suspect you have been a fan since ’76 like me, likely a bit older as I was an 11 year old punk when the Bucs ran the 0-14 gauntlet back then. After Leeman Bennett, Perkins and Williamson I will admit that Sam I am Wyche (RIP) going 7dash9 almost felt like winning something important. Heck I remember Ira saying that would not be a bad record in some of his earliest podcast on JBF when the expectations were so low. Fans get conditioned to lose and then take meager successes like 9-7 as a victory…… Tampa was Detroit/Cleveland for low expectations! People simply got used to the losing culture: go ask a Pitt Pirate, Detroit (MLB or NFL) or a Jet fan, they will sound like Buc fans from the late ’80s- early 90s as well as the 2010s. Cynical and angry. That has all changed! The team can bring it all home on Sunday! Make it so Buccaneers! Hopefully the culture change has swept all the bad kharma out of One Buc and now they can focus on furthering the winning attitude beyond 2021. Remember it can be lost quickly: look at Houston and how they have fallen apart to where some might compare them to the Lions or Jets now; record wise they are as well as culture, just like our Bucs for too many years!

This time last year I was getting ready to watch a superbowl and wondering if we were really going to stumble along with meaningless stats as QB again…now I’m going to a superbowl with meaningless stats no where near by.

Good for you Cleanhouse. I think we were all Winston fans, until we weren’t. It’s just sad that others can’t eat a little crow and come back and enjoy the season. All that tells me is that “you” always were a Bucs fan, you just disagreed with the way the team was going. I respect that. Others, N-dog, Maxi-Pad, Realist, not Bucs fans. They are fans of their own BS. I hope they never come back to this site. Of course, if they do, I’ll continue to ignore their BS as I do all trolls once they show their true colors.

I will be forever grateful to Jon Gruden for our SB win…….all of my gratitude begins with Chucky…
This year, it won’t go to BA, BL, Bowles, Licht, Glazers….or any other player than Tom Brady.
He is the reason we are here and if we win, he will be the reason!!!

I still can’t believe Winston’s name is still used in the same sentence as.Tom Brady. Your loyalty to the human turnover machine is uncanny. Winston is a child with a strong arm. That doesn’t make him a good professional QB. He needs to read defenses, know the D personnel he’s facing and know when to hold em or fold em. Brady as a kid when he replaced Drew Bledsoe who at the time was elite and won a SB, that’s a pro.
If Winston was KC’s QB fir the SB would anyone feel confident he would win. Even better if he was Bucs QB would you think he has a chance beating Mahomes?
Let it go and stop dwelling over the losing past. It’s apparent Winston was no leader or winner so it’s time to jump on the Brady winning train. MOVE ON!!!

@FortMyers…I just believe you aim low, you hit low. You are correct, I have been a fan since 1976. Hung around for years. I realized how it felt like the SB when they finally won in Game 27 at New Orleans. But since I have realized never to be satisfied with just getting to post season. That’s my take anyway. But the real point behind that was it is clearly how Brady sees it, and I think that’s one reason why he’s won so many SBs.

How else should they have handled a first round draft bust who was a free agent? I thought they handled it well. The organization didn’t say anything that wasn’t true. Even if they lied about how great he was the film told a different story.

Glazers had JW’s back and put up with his sh!t for too long. Everything was handled exactly as it should have been.

I believe Warner had a chance to come out of retirement for B.A. & The Cards when Palmer went down right before the playoffs. He would have been @ 44 at the time. He’s aged faster than Brady ( we all have )…probably because he did the opposite of “outkicking his coverage” and married a fossil while TB super modeled up. 🙂

@joe. I agree that the comments here got a little off target. It is clear that Warner is speaking to the change in the organization’s culture that Brady impacted the most, particularly injecting a winning attitude in the organization. Like a lot of people who commented on this article, I have been a long time Bucs fan and suffer from a form of PTSD as a result. Outside of a few brief periods, this organization has given us no hope. Brady changed that…for which I am grateful, and recovering.

Warner’s opinion means nothing. 2 weeks ago 1 out of every 10 sports media personalities went against Bucs, Warner was one of them, Bradshaw is another. Bradshaw insists on saying Brady is the best QB in last 25 years. Not sure who is better, maybe he thinks himself. Does anyone but me think Warner is looking more & more like his wife every day? Washed up hypocrite douche.
