Devin White Explains “Unselfish” Vita Vea
February 2nd, 2021VEE-tuh, VEE-tuh, VEE-tuh!!
Devin White is one hell of a Vita Vea fan, and he explained why yesterday in his typical high-energy style with Xs and Os chatter mixed in.
“Man, he does a lot for us, man, he’s a guy that’s not selfish,” White said of Vea on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “When he got two guys on him, he know how to hold them down. And when he’s one-on-one [in the run game], he know how to pick a side. You know, he don’t do a lot of peeking; he gonna commit to a gap where you can play off of.
And the thing that he don’t get a lot of credit for is what he do in the passing game. He’s always pushing the pocket. If you go watch the game, the center would be sitting right in front of the quarterback, and that helps the guys on the outside, you know, be able to rush better because everybody taking lanes rather than him getting pushed out of there or getting moved around or getting no push and the pocket just being clean. I’m so happy to have him back. That’s my counter partner; that’s my guy.”
Great stuff from White.
Yeah, Vea is an irreplaceable mountain of a man at 6-4, 350 pounds with a ton of athleticism.
After a surprising and impressive 33 snaps in Green Bay coming off a broken ankle, Joe is totally fired up for what Vea might do against the Chiefs with two more weeks to get healthier.
Joe has a lingering feeling that Vea is going to dominate in ways he hasn’t previously.
On an unrelated note, White mentioned that Vea is a shark when it comes to playing cards.

I think Vea and Suh blow up the middle all day. The entire KC line is being shuffled around because their tackles are gone. They have guards moving to tackle and back up people all over. I want to see domination!!!
LFG!!
On another note,
JOE
they did a KC / Buccaneer “angry runs” this morning.
LeGarrette Blount, Jamaal Charles, Christian Okoye….

I think he has trimmed down 20-25 lbs from the photo above, he looked lean and ready to go last game!

Taking on a double-team and still collapsing the pocket?
That’s what you call a transformational player!
Big fan of Vea!

Some of Ray Lewis’s best years came with Tony Siragusa and Sam Adams pushing the pocket. Vita has that same effect on this defense.

Big, quiet and unselfish. Call me crazy but those dudes have the best poker faces. You cant read them!!

I remember a video of Vita pointing and laughing at Suh after a play where Suh was on the ground. Can’t remember when it was. Dude just seems like a real laid back kinda guy that loves to have fun and hasn’t even really realized how strong he is or the things he can do on the field yet. He’s going to be a problem for offenses for years to come.

Man that just makes a ton of sense what White said……how the VitaV push opens up all the lanes and gives space for the Edge players to make there moves.
After watching the NFC Championship and seeing the impact V had I was very curious what is really is that aids our Edge player.
Really neat stuff Joe. Thanks for sharing.

I would love to see VV lined up in the fullback position on some goal line situations. Talk about your Angry Run!

I want him to pick up the center and throw him on top of Mahomes. Just sayin’.

Bucs defense peaking at just the right time👍🏻
Hopefully TB12 doesn’t make ill-advised biscuit tosses and offense just works the field methodically….

T Bowels Defense is anchored by Vita. He is not going to get pushed around by anybody, so like Devin said he causes clean rush lanes, attracts attention so the outside guys JPP, Shaq can meet at the QB. Again I am sure many people here remember Dirk talking about Vita lifting 300-pound men up with 1 arm. Yeah, that’s Vita Vea baby. Oh, and the Defense with Vita has a historically low avg yards given up against the run. Look at the pass rush in the GB game sacks. BTW anyone remember his TD catch against the Falcons lol he can catch too. That is the facts, not hype, for the resident Rhino and High School running back. …..Tevita Tuliʻakiʻono Tuipulotu Mosese Vaʻhae Fehoko Faletau Vea = The Tongan Nightmare. GO BUCS!!!!!

David Says… BTW Kyle Brandt’s Angry Runs is incomplete, did not have any James Wilder angry runs, like the run in 1984 at Tampa Stadium against the Packers. It was an awesome run, Wilder broke multiple tackles for a 33 yard TD. I have actually tried to find the highlight of that run. John McKay called Wilder “the Ultimate Weapon” BTW If anyone has a video of the Bucs and the Packers 1984, I would like to see it. Wilders Run was the first score, The Bucs won in overtime. It was also the Ricky Bell tribute game with a decal for the helmet. GO BUCS!!!

James Wilder was one of the few bright spots in the 80s after 1982. Have some autographed photos from Ricky Bell. Ricky was my favorite player ever.
Don’t have anything from Bucs Packers 1984 but my first date with my wife was a Bucs Packer game in 1988 (Bucs won) and today is our 31st wedding anniversary. Having the Bucs Packers in the NFC Championship game is the best possible outcome for us.
It’s destiny!!! Go Bucs!!!
