“No Serious Damage”

January 19th, 2021

MRI results known.

Whew. Seems the Bucs may have dodged a bullet.

Furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing star Bucs wide receiver Antonio Brown hurt his knee Sunday night against the slimy Saints.

After the game, Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians shared no detailsm saying only Brown would undergo an MRI. Well, that MRI is complete and Brown, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, has “no serious damage” to his knee.

It seems he’s a day-to-day situation. Aren’t we all.

Joe wasn’t horribly worried about Brown. Yes, losing Brown, a really talented receiver would hurt. But Joe doesn’t think it would crush the Bucs. Receiver may be the deepest position on the team.

When you have a rookie like Tyler Johnson making the type of catches he did (see below) in a NFC divisional playoff game, and the way Scotty Miller can stretch a defense and get behind a defense, the Bucs won’t be crushed if Brown missed a game.

Hurt? Yes. Doomed? No.

Another big play – late in 1st quarter, Bucs down 6-0 , Brady QB sneaks for 1st down on 4th and 1 from their own 34.

Good News! More firepower the better.

    Who’s next? OJ Howard? LOL

  4. Oxycondoms Says:

Too bad leftwich hasnt figured out how to incorporate him in with evans and godwin

Oxycondumb: You’re expected to watch the games before you comment. You evidently haven’t been watching.

  6. aFEDupBUCfan Says:

Oxycodoms it’s not that Leftwich can’t gameplane him in it’s just Brady trusts Brown there more. More experience more everything.

  7. TampaTown Says:

Does “no SERIOUS damage” mean anything? Like he still hurt something? I don’t know I’m asking

  8. Robert Says:

Feel good for us, feel good for him. Glad he’s getting a chance to turn his life around. Even if he has done crazy things….seems like he has manned up to them (or at least getting help) at least unlike some who always blame others.

He brings another dimension to the game. ME is a beast and CG is on medium routes…….but AB can break it big with a WR screen, end around OR deep route. He is versatile and adds another dimension to our offense.

  9. Kentucky Buc Says:

You got it Robert. Most versatile player the bucs have period. Offense or defense.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

AB is more important than many think……Green Bay absolutely, positively has to pay extreme attention to a WR like AB……Johnson and Miller are good….but run different types of routes…..AB is special….
I can guarantee you that Brady agrees….

I also think that Vea….if ready….will make the same kind of difference…..The Packers will have to pay special attention.

Our WR group is so talented….and healthy that it has relegated Justin Watson to nothing but Special Teams.

Tampa Town, no serious damage means no significant injury to the ACL, MCL, LCL, PCL and no bone contusions. So yes, he has a sprained knee and may still be limited, may still have pain that prevents him from being 100%, but nothing that would prevent AB from suiting up and at least taking some snaps and contributing.

  12. Bobby Buc Says:

i keep watching this Tyler Johnson highlight over and over. Amazing. This kid is going to be a stud. Wouldn’t be surprised if he kills it next wkd in GB.

  13. Listnfrmafar Says:

Ridiculous to think AB isn’t valuded and Johnson & Miller can step in and take is place. Spectacular catch by Johnson that covered up that he ran the wrong route and Scotty’s was great as well. Take a look at AB’s one catch. He’s in tight coverage, comes back for the ball to make a leaping catch. That’s what a pro bowler does. He has played in Pittsburgh for years so weather not an issue. Hope he can go he cannot be replaced by Miller or Johnson. I mean seriously? 7 time pro bowler?

“Receiver may be the deepest position on the team”

MAY? Which other position even comes close..unless you’re separating TE’s from WR’s but even then…which other position is close…next year perhaps RB if we kept Fournette…but if we keep Fournette at the salary he’s earned in this league that means the Bucs don’t have faith in Vaughn. I’d love to have all three but the cap will be a challenge next year.

The ONE thing we are getting relatively cheap is another year of TB12…25 million wow! Perhaps not the value of Fameis Jameis at 30 million but..Ok snark font off

  15. GMC hater Says:

Anyone noticed he bumped his Johnson on the ref?

  16. EEK Says:

AB must be accounted for and game planned for. Unlike the younger receivers, AB can go off and take over a game still and he 12 catches and 3 TDS.
This is not a small deal.

  17. SOEbuc Says:

Johnson is another Godwin in the making. AB will likely be somewhere else next year. Scotty has been great with Brady but I think he’ll be great trade bait next year.

  18. 813bucboi Says:

    great news…

    GO BUCS!!!

  19. Capt.Tim Says:

Ummm. For whatever reason, Godwin has been very unreliable thruout the playoffs.
Speaking only about his on the field work,
    Brown is our best WR.
Hes been to more Probowls, than all our WRs combined.
Just look at his career stats.
Plus Brady is more familiar with him.

Losing AB is a huge deal. I hope he can play. He gives us 3 star WRs.
The packers cant cover those 3.

  20. Listnfrmafar Says:

I hope the worst scenario is he can’t play Sunday and Bucs win without him and he can play in SB, he has a ring under his belt also. If team makes SB, they have Brady, Gronk, AB & JPP, all have SB rings. That experience is priceless.

    _______

A sprained knee means he has suffered a crack to the cartilage in his knee. He would not be day to day if that is the case. Nice diagnosis, non Doc. But you’re wrong.

Having been there, I’m pretty sure a “sprain” is stretched, but not separated, ligaments.

A sprain has nothing to do with cartilage. Torn cartilage is a different animal, and depending on the tear, one may or may not be able to play with it. You often hear about a scope to “clean it out.” This refers to little pieces of cartilage and maybe tiny bone fragments, floating around.

I am not aware of “stretched” or “sprained” cartilage.

  23. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

Godwin has been choking in the playoffs. AB is a transcendent player with cold weather chops. Please. These guys are outstanding but AB is on another level, period.

  24. Clean House Says:

Agreed AB is our premier receiver- ME13 has stepped up and is clutch but AB can be next level
    – a complete WR

  25. orlbucfan Says:

CG14 has been concussed, hurt his hamstring, and broke a finger all in one season. He is out there contributing as he blocks just as well as a TE. He also blocks if necessary down field. There is a good reason he and ME13 are genuine friends. I hope he backs off on the blocking a little bit. So lay off on him!

I think I might throw in the Oline overall; at least its close. How impressive have they been in having depth?! The Bucs Oline! Who would have said that at the beginning of the season?! Go Licht! You deserve Exec of the Year!
