“Playoff Lenny”

January 18th, 2021

Bucs RB Leonard Fournette tries to break through a hole in the Bucs’ win over New Orleans Sunday.

Nate Burleson is hot for the Bucs running backs.

The former Vikings and Lions receiver is really geeking on Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones and how, with the passing game sort of sputtering last night, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady was able to lean on the running game to pick up hard-to-get yards and of course, drain the clock.

Burleson really thinks the Bucs have a good enough running attack to… nah, Joe’s not going to write it. Don’t want to jinx things.

You can hear (and see) what Burleson thinks the run game can do for the Bucs in the NFL Network video below.

Hope Bradshaw feels like the idiot he is! Saints by 17 kiss my A… Bradshaw!

  2. stpetebucsfan Says:

I’ve always liked ROJO…but in my heart I felt Fournette was the better back.

I still give Fournette a slight edge as a receiver, but as a runner…it now seems to me to be a toss up. They are both running at a high level,

  3. Bird Says:

Love the guy in old school buc jacket

Hey SPBF, what a great problem to have huh? Where is Dare when you need him?😂

  5. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I can forgive Terry Bradshaw for picking the Saints by 17 points, because he is a Louisiana Boy.
But so are Devin White and Leonard Fournette!

  6. RioDeJaneiroBucsFan Says:

Both are elite RBs, but RoJo is a better runner. Fournette is a better blocker and pass catcher.

Great win for Tampa but looking ahead got to think it will be real tough to beat packers again in there house.. Not impossible can’t turn ball over just think packers are a better team right now but I hope I’m wrong . 👍🏻

LF is bringing it. Danny playoff part 2.

  11. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

He’s got really fresh legs… He was on the bench for awhile so he was able to rest up!! Lol…. As much as you want this guy to be the man (and last night he did his job) Rojo is a much better runner!! Rojo even hurt was running so much harder than Fornette…. I thought they really should have ran Rojo more and stop taking those long shots on 3rd … Those passes were there but for one reason or another they weren’t getting home… They should have ran Rojo a lot more!!

  12. Robert Says:

Told yah LF would get the bulk and screens and Rojo would bat cleanup. I’ll be the OF next year

  13. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Spbf

Rojo has a gear that Lenny doesn’t

  14. 123urout Says:

Can we create a play where there are 2 running backs, one in the left and right of Brady ? This will surely confuse the defense. Like a reverse hand-off or something…. 😆

  15. 6throundpick Says:

RoJo was very good, as well; lots of years per carry on his runs. That these two guys performed well, kept the Bucs from forcing the pass…probably what happened when the Bucs were blown out against the Saints in game two.

    This ain’t madden….lol…

    Offense is fine

    BL IS WORKING MAGIC

  17. Bobby M. Says:

Fournette is definitely the more complete back in this system…..he does everything really well. Rojo is the better pure runner, particularly in traffic but his route running and catching ability are a liability. Too many balls bounce off his hands, eventually they’ll end up in the defenders possession. The margin for error at this stage of the playoffs is super slim for us. I do like the combo we have going….Fournette seems to wear the defense down a bit, then they get gashed by Rojo which sets up the play action really well. As the saying goes, if it aint broke dont fix it.

  18. Bojim Says:

I’m sure Terry was laughing at himself last night.

  19. Beeej Says:

123, they used to call that pro set, nobody seems to do it anymore

I hear ya but which game was it when LF sealed the deal late with a long run to the house.

I agree that when healthy ROJO is faster but not by much. I guess I’m saying Fournette has decent speed as well it’s just that ROJO can fly.

  21. Casual Observer Says:

And props to Stinnie. Played great – OL didn’t miss a beat.

  22. 813bucboi Says:

Fournette has hands that rojo doesn’t

    SHUT DOWN LAMBEAU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. bucnole Says:

Fournette is playing well as a runner and receiver out of the backfield, but I thought ROJO showed more quickness and power when he got a carry
Its good to have some options!!!

    NO MORE VET!!!

  25. SlyPirate Says:

2 more games like this and Fournette will get majorly paid … and likely by a championship contender.

    Good for him.

  26. Colonel Angus Says:

Beeej, bring back the Pro Set! That was the 49ers bread and butter.

  27. Cobraboy Says:

Fournette has been effective as a fill-in, and his role is expanded.

But when Jones runs, he’s furious, all elbows and knees at top speed. That kid is becoming more impressive.

    Two good complimentary backs.

  28. bigdaddio Says:

Am I the only who thinks Rojo is a much much better runner than Fournette? The O-line and TEs were mauling holes for Fournette and to his credit took the yards they gave him, but not much else. Rojo would have had at least 2-3 breakaway gash runs if given the same carries.

  29. bigdaddio Says:

Colonel Angus–If we run pro set I say put Devin White at FB. I would love to see him on a screen or carrying the ball or blasting folks into the next zip code as lead blocker.

  30. gotbbucs Says:

Ronald Jones is a completely different animal than Fournette. Fournette is stuttering his feet the second he gets the handoff and costs himself yards and still has very little interest in hitting hole hard. Now that its playoff time, he seems to be running a little harder, but the difference between he and Jones is very apparent.
Rojo takes the handoff and fully intends on running through the first tackle, which 9/10 times he does. Jones is the kind of running back that offensive linemen love to block for.
There just looks like a different energy on the field Rojo carries vs when Fournette carries.
