“No Adjustment”
January 13th, 2021A couple of interesting takes on why the Bucs are special from two of Tom Brady’s many BFFs.
First up is a guy who won three rings with Brady, retired linebacker Tedy Bruschi.
What impressed Bruschi about Tampa Bay on Saturday?
“No adjustment from the Bucs offense,” Bruschi told his BSPN audience. He was expecting Brady to have more quick-release throws and an offense designed to fend off Washington’s strong defense.
Instead, Bruschi said he saw a Bucs offense that simply played its game and mauled an opponent.
Joe thinks Bruschi was spot-on with that assessment. The Bucs played their game on offense and it was more than enough.
During the same TV segment, ex-Belicheats star and Brady buddy Randy Moss noted how Brady forced balls to Antonio Brown so he could get a fat cash bonus in Week 17. (Moss didn’t mention that Brady hosed Ronald Jones’s shot at 1,000 yards rushing in the process.)
Moss said he loves the Brown-Brady chemistry and it was no surprise that Tampa Bay threw its first playoff touchdown to Brown, and that love for Brown in the offense rolled over into the early minutes the playoff game.
That was especially noteworthy, per Moss, because Brady go-to, double-digit target guys in the game were Mike Evans and Randy Moss.
And just for fun, Joe will add that Rex Ryan, the former Jets and Bills head coach and defensive guru who faced Brady countless times, was appalled by the Bucs defense. Ryan barked on BSPN that Todd Bowles and friends made third-stringer Taylor Heinicke look like Doug Flutie in his prime.
Joe expects the same approach from the Bucs offense on Sunday in New Orleans. Win the trenches, a battle the Bucs usually lose to New Orleans, and let the many weapons take over.

I think we’re going to need more than a few points. We can do it.
January 13th, 2021 at 4:25 pm
Gona come down to who wins the line of scrimmage like always. If the corners are told to give ten yard cushions the Bucs D line wont matter. Brees will throw five yard passes all game. And we will lose our minds in the process. Go Bucs!

Unless Bowles ditches the wide ass open zone coverage then our Bucs do not stand a chance.
January 13th, 2021 at 4:39 pm
Im just hoping we see new orleans punter in the game within their first 4 drives. If not buckle up. Please todd please dont play soft zone with corners bailing out evry snap. If you play man and drew gets 1 over the top so be it. I will not be mad. But if hes able to get those 5 to 15 yd timing throws uncontested, i hope the eagles hire you. You have to make drew hold the ball. Our corners need to be on the line putting a hard shot on their wrs as soon as thet come off the line.

This defense will prevent the Bucs from a deep playoff run. In a passing league you can’t be awful at covering receivers who are usually wide open in our zones
January 13th, 2021 at 4:44 pm
The only slight adjustment I saw was keeping Gronk in to block on almost all plays…..

“Rex Ryan”, from the Latin, “Sour Grapes”

We are going to need to score over 40 points. The NO offense is just very efficient, but the Bucs can force turnovers.
Devin White needs an early career statement game. I’m saying change the game and put the team on his back kind of day on defense.

SOEbuc expects the same approach of Todd Bowels defense and that is what scares me. But cha gotta KEEP THE FAITH!!!
GO BUCS!!!
January 13th, 2021 at 4:58 pm
defense has to come to play!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!
January 13th, 2021 at 5:10 pm
Basically everyone is saying Bucs have to be otherworldly and players have to have the best game of their careers to beat the Saints!!!
January 13th, 2021 at 5:18 pm
@Pewter
That’s what we, as fans, expect every week… Even the bye!
January 13th, 2021 at 5:18 pm
If Todd Bowles continues with this soft zone coverage and the defense is the reason we don’t move on it’ll be time for BA to swallow his pride and fire him unless he takes a head coaching job somewhere. It’s just hard to believe that with this huge staff that no one is saying anything to him about the poor defensive game plans or that someone else that’s already on staff couldn’t do better.
January 13th, 2021 at 5:29 pm
Nobody dares to call out Todd Bowles even BA, otherwise, they will be called the R***** word. So, the only thing he hears at the Bucs office is that he has a great defense and keep up the good work.
January 13th, 2021 at 5:42 pm
Win the trenches, win the game. That simple. Trenches give you a run game, pass protection, run stoppage and pass rush. Say no more.
January 13th, 2021 at 6:09 pm
123urout, you nailed it. There are a lot of words that start with “R” There’s Realist. Hell he could be our next President within a year
January 13th, 2021 at 6:19 pm
Gonna need to score 52.
January 13th, 2021 at 6:32 pm
If our pass defense looks like the Redskins game we will be sliced and diced. Soft Zone coverage the entire game will never work against Brees. And the pass rush needs sacks!! Lots of sacks. I hope for win but the odds are not good. We have to play our best game this season and they have to play poorly. Just don’t see that happening. But its great we made the second round!! Hope RJ can play and Devon White can get some sacks. Getting real I expect Kamara to make big plays and Brees to feast on our secondary. If we can keep it close into the fourth quarter we have chance.

Is it possible ROJO is overplaying an injury because he’s pissed at not getting 1,000 yds?
January 13th, 2021 at 7:07 pm
TTTB,. No player is going to to fake an injury and miss a playoff game.
GO BUCS!!
January 13th, 2021 at 7:09 pm
TDTB
I could have sworn I saw a Rojo jump up last week when Vaughn fumbled. Looked like he was ready to come in to me. Something going on here… smokescreen?
January 13th, 2021 at 7:11 pm
I must admit to having thoughts that RoJo is pissed that AB got the two touches to reach his milestone and he did not. But maybe RoJo didn’t have a contract incentive to reach 1,000? But if he did, or he just wanted that chip for his mantle, it’s possible that playing through his quad injury might not be as high of a priority for him. Someone pay that man for being a 1,000 rusher! Brady, the Glazers, someone, anyone! We need him on Sunday.
That said Joe, stop making Brady out to be a bad guy for taking care of AB and not RoJo. None of us have any insider info on how that went down. Maybe Brady asked RoJo if he would be pissed and RoJo said “no.” The fact that you paint Brady as a bad guy (Joe: “Moss didn’t mention that Brady hosed Ronald Jones’s shot at 1,000 yards rushing in the process.”) just reinforces what I’ve been saying about how you deep down really continue to despise Brady as much as you know you shouldn’t for the sake of your readership.
Yawn, there you go again ascribing motives to Joe. Joe likes and appreciates Brady, who just had the best season of any Bucs QB in history. Anything else is silly talk. And the hosing of RoJo is on the coaches, Joe believes. As for “none of us have any insider info,” you would be wrong there. –Joe

My observation,. The BUCS offense has been exicuting much better since the bye. Something BA was saying they weren’t doing during their loosing streak.
Now if the Bucs can get their defense exicuting better, they won’t have to score 40 points to win. GO BUCS!!
January 13th, 2021 at 7:35 pm
Jmarkbuc….Sorry. I wish there would be a sane reason for RoJo riding the bench. Might be 13-3 if RoJo got his.
January 13th, 2021 at 8:18 pm
Fournette and McCoy would be a challenging duoqqqqqqqqqqoq
Fournette and McCoy could be a tough combo for the Bucs.
January 13th, 2021 at 8:19 pm
excuse the error, oh dopey me.
January 13th, 2021 at 8:34 pm
Let’s not forget the Bucs only losses came to playoff teams and all were early on. This team is jelling, well the offense is. Heinke brought a different look they were not expecting and some of those throws were season QB like. Maybe just a fluke game but he was impressive that night. Brees is not going to be as elusive if def steps it up should win. Brown is not Brady’s binky, he has many. Bucs win 35-27.
January 13th, 2021 at 10:50 pm
We can beat NO keep gronk protecting brady have a balanced attack with the run game if rojo was playing last game it would of been alot more scoring….AB NEEDS TO BE FED….im sorry but AB is better than ME13 and CG….he doesnt drop balls .they all are great but FEED AB…our d needs to play with intensity and rack the crap out of thier recivers so they dont want the ball we need to play hard nose defense and dont give them an inch TAMPA BAY ALL THE WAY
January 13th, 2021 at 11:54 pm
….”Moss didn’t mention that Brady hosed Ronald Jones’s shot at 1,000 yards rushing in the process.”…… We do not know what’s up behind the scenes but the cold hard fact is that your best ability, is your availability. And Rojo has missed multiple games because of injury and Cov-disease. He would have easily gotten 1000 yards if he was able to play. BTW, they can put Brady’s name in the ring of honor already, because, he is best QB that has ever put on a Buc uniform. GO BUCS!!!!

This team can beat every team in the playoff bracket. The rest is execution and wanting it more. No plays off. Watch the penalties. Play football.
