“I’m Glad There’s Going To Be 3,000”
January 12th, 2021Slow starts or fast starts, Bucco Bruce Arians can deal with those.
But there’s one thing about starting a game it seems he can’t handle well.
That would be silence.
And that’s why Arians is happy (almost oddly too happy) that the cavernous Superdome is permitted to host 3,000 fans on Sunday, as it did last weekend when the Saints beat the Bears to advance to play our beloved Buccaneers.
For Arians, that tiny fraction of a crowd (Joe will call it a studio audience) is far better than the alternative.
“I’m glad there’s going to be 3,000, because when we went there for the opener, it was dead. I mean dead, dead. And it’s like, it was eerie,” Arians told The Dan Patrick Show today. “At least we’ll have some noise. I want to hear people booing or cheering. It adds to the game. That dead silence or that airplane noise, it’s not been good.”
As he did months ago, Arians referenced how things just weren’t feeling right on the road in night games against the Bears and Giants in empty stadiums.
Joe’s just glad the Bucs won’t have the silence distraction/excuse for Sunday’s game. If they need a little noise to feel good about the game, then thank you New Orleans government officials.

Bucs lit up a top 5 defense in the last round, lets do it again.
Go Bucs!!!

A little noise but not enough to stop Brady from changing the play.
January 12th, 2021 at 1:05 pm
This article is noise. Stop avoiding the real news, Joe. Let’s tackle real topics …
1. Godwin absolutely crapping the bed. Will Brady throw to him? Will Godwin rebound?
2. The Saints destroying the Bucs last game, the history of teams that play 3 games in a season and lose the first two, and why we should have hope?
3. The age of the DL. Can they get to the QB at this stage of the season?
4. Evans and Godwin. Can we actually keep both and field a team? If yes/no, who goes?
January 12th, 2021 at 1:05 pm
There might be even more noise when they crack Breesā ribs again
January 12th, 2021 at 1:21 pm
“Studio audience.” Too funny.
I think most of us remember playing sports, or being in a band, etc. Even if the crowd was for the other team or hostile and unruly to you, you always like a crowd better than no crowd. It give you purpose to play…whether they are pro or con.
Arians is 1-7 against Sean Payton, 0-4 in the past two seasons. I hope he and his guys get what they need.
January 12th, 2021 at 1:27 pm
Wow….3000…..wonder what prices are for those…..
January 12th, 2021 at 1:29 pm
Something that’s never been said before, “thank you New Orleans government officials.”
January 12th, 2021 at 1:33 pm
“1. Godwin absolutely crapping the bed. Will Brady throw to him? Will Godwin rebound?”
……..
Dude had 4 drops his whole flippin’ career!!!! Give him a break!
Either that or take your apron off and get on the field.
January 12th, 2021 at 1:43 pm
Having an extra day of rest plus starting at 6:40pm instead of 8:15pm is a much better situation for the Bucs than some of the alternatives. The NFL looked out for the Bucs in the scheduling.
I’d rather there be a small crowd than no crowd or a large crowd. Again it’s the best possible scenario for the Bucs.
If the Bucs can’t get more motivated for this game than any other game they’ve played this season they simply don’t deserve to be in the playoffs beyond this point.
I expect a super close game with the Bucs winning late.
January 12th, 2021 at 2:25 pm
(Joe will call it a studio audience)
And let’s hope to hell they use it for “natural sound” as it’s called in TV Production. The fake noise they’ve over amplified sucks and they can’t seem to figure out how to get the mix balanced properly.
Just for once I’d like to actually hear the announcers without them being drown out by the mix.
January 12th, 2021 at 2:30 pm
The answer to silly question #1, was answered during the same game. Brady went back to Godwin immediately after drop #3 for a 1st down play. The last drop happened later in the game.
At risk of sounding like an apologist, 2 seemed more like legit drops and the other 2 were tough catches that we are spoiled to come to expect as sure things from Godwin.
January 12th, 2021 at 2:38 pm
You want to talk about annoying? I’m just glad the game is on Fox and not ESPN. What’s up with that annoying sound all game long? They been doing it for two years and it’s still that way. It sounds like an Ice Cream truck across the street. But it never moves. And it’s every game.
January 12th, 2021 at 2:46 pm
As for Godwin? There’s a really old saying; “If you can touch it, you can catch it”. I honestly can’t remember 1 player droppin 4 passes in a game. But let’s remember who’s under center. Brady will know when or if to stop targeting him
January 12th, 2021 at 2:54 pm
@ alton green…………… Nov 8th 2015 against the Giants. ME13 dropped SIX in one game.
Credited with 9 on the Year while 6 came in one game.
January 12th, 2021 at 2:56 pm
People were calling for ME’s head after the game. Calling him a Fake #1 wr, etc etc. Some idiots were even calling for Donte Dye to replace ME.
January 12th, 2021 at 3:50 pm
this could be the noisiest 3k fans in the history of the saints while brady is calling plays…
(as they pump in the volume of say another 30k)
January 12th, 2021 at 3:52 pm
Brady has gone what 335? passes on the road without an int. And that might not include the Washington game.
January 12th, 2021 at 3:58 pm
You can’t control the reactions of 30k plus people. Any big play, offense or defense, regardless of the team, evokes a reaction from the crowd. A good team feeds off of that and uses it for inspiration.
Nothing makes a visiting defense stronger than boo’s from the crowd. Like blood in the water!
January 12th, 2021 at 5:29 pm
Godwin had 5 drops. Iām just hoping it was the jitters and not something like he was on the take. You just donāt see that almost ever from even a non sure-handed receiver.
I think heāll be the star of the game because theyāll put their best defenders on ME and AB. I also look for Gronk to emerge.
Eerily looking forward to this game. If you want it all this year, and squash the detractors, then gotta defeat your nemesis.
January 12th, 2021 at 5:30 pm
Unfortunately the broadcasters blast fake crowd noise and I can never hear what the Romo or others are saying, just constant fake cheering coming out of the tv set and the game. Over it already!
January 12th, 2021 at 6:01 pm
Gawd… I NEVER Have Trouble Hearing The Broadcasters Over The Crowd, Never Have Since 1960.
Maybe You All Need Hearing Aids Or Need To Adjust The Audio On Your T.V. Sets.!!! Geez.
I’ve Been To Live NFL Games & They Are A Waste Of Money š°. College & Pro Football Are T.V. Sports… Bad In Person. Baseball ā¾ļø & Basketball š & Hockey š Are Live Crowd Sports. Soccer Is More A T.V. Sport As Well.
Last Live Game Was Patriots @ Chargers, Sept 29, 2002 & Couldn’t Hear A Damn Thing & ZERO Patriots Replays Shown… Just Lousy Bolts.
Complete Waste Of $80 Bucks.
January 12th, 2021 at 7:18 pm
Rooting hard for my Bucs Iām all about evidence and even though we have the players to beat them I see no evidence this defense can hold drew Brees and the Saints and score consistently enough to keep it close. JPP looks worn out, Shaq is on the back of a milk carton thatās the only place he can be found. I have no idea what Aaron Stinnie brings to the table and rojo may not be fully healthy. Saints wonāt have this same team next year so I want to be able to rub a playoff win in their face and make Brees retire, until I see it I canāt believe it and that is the coaching staffs fault not mine
January 12th, 2021 at 9:10 pm
While the bucs o-line has played well all season, they really stepped it up against the WFT. If they can execute like that against NO, Brady & Company will have the time they need if it turns into a shootout. But, if the D can put the pressure on Breez like Chicago did, the Bucs should comfortably prevail. Actually hoping for a blowout in the Bucs favor – if so, shouldnāt be shocking, itās what we all initially anticipated when the pieces were added.
Just hope the playoff jitters were all left in the last game.
January 12th, 2021 at 10:04 pm
SlyPirate…..
Maybe you didnāt finish watching the game but of course Brady trusts Godwin and is going to throw to him.
He continued to throw to him in that game, and Godwin had a bunch of yards and a touchdown. He couldāve had a monster game but that was a fluke. Itās in the past already
Why donāt you think Godwin and Evans can be on the field at the same time? That makes no sense at all.
Other than when someone is injured, itās happened all year.
They have Gronk, Brate, Evans, Godwin, Brown, Miller, the rookieā¦ They use all kinds of sets all game and mix it up well.
As for the Saints winning twice already, itās in the past, learn from it and move on.
The question about the D line is tied into why they lost those games.
The D-line is the key to the entire game.
They must get quick, consistent pressure
January 12th, 2021 at 10:46 pm
Brady was throwing passes into the dirt all game, but the receivers get credited for a drop. Godwin had 2 legit drops and it was painful. The others were barely catchable and would have been”dropped” by everyone in the league most days.
January 13th, 2021 at 6:00 am
Coach Arians needs an Ernie Adams – Have yet to see total overall excellent game by Bucs. Will be vital vs Saints-Sean Payton-Drew Brees on Sunday. As it looks, Saints in line for “W”. Defense needs to ‘anticipate’ & ‘strategically-adjust’ in every series. Have yet to see absolute energized focus, which is vital plus Julian Edelman passioned-play….all game.
January 13th, 2021 at 8:37 am
D White!!
January 13th, 2021 at 9:02 am
Saints screw up every time at this point. Bucs come home with the WIN!!
January 13th, 2021 at 10:04 am
Noise or no noise, the Bucs absolutely need to get off to a fast start. Getting behind early to a team that has beaten them twice (regardless of what that looks like historically) and playing on the road would be a recipe for disaster. The first game was fairly close, the second a fluke, this one is the only one that counts. The Bucs have the talent to get this win – Get it done!
January 13th, 2021 at 1:26 pm
I am worried about D’s 3rd level play. They gave a lot of yards to xfl QB and a retread QB. That was eye opening at Washington! Brees will eat them up.
