Not Looking Good For Alex Cappa
January 10th, 2021Bucs starting right guard Alex Cappa left the game in the first half and it may be his final game of the season.
Cappa suffered an ankle injury. Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians had an unpleasant update on Cappa’s injury after the game.
Arians said initial tests suggest Cappa has a fractured ankle, which would likely put him on the shelf for a while, maybe the rest of the postseason.
Arians said when the team gets back to Tampa, Cappa will undergo a battery of tests and fingers will be crossed that it is not that bad. But Arians’ tone of voice and body language seemed to indicate a lesser test result is wishful thinking.
This is bad news, as his replacement, Ted Larsen, the pride of Palm Harbor University High School, gave up two sacks Saturday night.
The bright spot is if Cappa can go, you know he will. Remember this tough SOB finished a game against the Saints playing with a broken arm.
Cappa actually led the NFC Pro Bowl fan voting for right guard. So he’s had a helluva season in his second year as a starter.

Larsen will be better next week. Sorry for Cappa.
January 10th, 2021 at 12:07 am
Thats a big loss. Bucs can afford to lose a rb or wr but not oline
January 10th, 2021 at 12:08 am
That’s really too bad. If there’s any way he can play he’s that guy who will. He’s had a really good season and done a really good job. I hope it’s not as bad as what they say.
January 10th, 2021 at 12:09 am
This is a serious problem! Anyone cheering for the bears tomorrow better pray Aaron Donald has a legit ribs injury
January 10th, 2021 at 12:09 am
If he can go he will go? Playing with a broken forearm is nothing compared to putting weight on an ankle. You don’t plata guy in that situation who will need to get push in the run game and need to anchor against either rams or Saints 2 actual top 5 defenses. He’s done and so are the Bucs if they play defense like that next week with that weak arse zone and barely any pass rush

Huge lost
GO BUCS

Hopefully Ted gets his assignments down better for next game.
January 10th, 2021 at 12:11 am
I feel like this is part of an elaborate joke that Ted Larson is somehow still on our team.
January 10th, 2021 at 12:11 am
Heal soon.
January 10th, 2021 at 12:11 am
Most underrated player on the team this season!
January 10th, 2021 at 12:13 am
I really hope that there isn’t a fracture and Cappa can play. He’s had a really quiet season. As far as his potential replacement the first sack Larsen got beat by the swim move, but the other one I thought there might have been a miscommunication between him and Jensen. I’m hopeful that a full week of practice will fix that. We’re probably going to need him to step up big time next week.
January 10th, 2021 at 12:15 am
Pewter- I meant if it’s not fractured. Plus he’s always shown if there is a way he can play he’ll do it.
January 10th, 2021 at 12:15 am
Ted Larsen redux is terrifying. Cappa has been very solid and has developed into a real quality starter. He is still on the rise and will be missed.
January 10th, 2021 at 12:20 am
He missed the whole second half and the line still played well…Washington DOES have a good front and our Oline ha fled them every without Cappa. Obviously he’s preferred but Larson did decently

Nah not calling anyone out I’m happy Bucs got a win and the o line played great but losing cappa again is a problem as we saw fit not to address the o line depth like we did running back spot. Both the next two opponents have top tier d lines. Ted Larsen I hope can step up with more starter reps
January 10th, 2021 at 12:29 am
Larson will be better next week and him and Jensen will be double teaming Donald all day if they play the Rams.
I’ve said it several times and I’ll say it again, everyone keeps saying Larson came in and gave up two sacks. It sure looked like Jensen had a big hand in allowing those sacks to me. Maybe it was just communication. They’ll be able to work on it this week.

“Larson will be better next week.” Agree but I think Cappa was underrated and so I do not expect Larson to come in without some dropoff.
But Larson came into this season as ten year veteran journeyman who started double digit games in four of those ten years for three different teams including his original team the Bucs.
Larson is the Kevin Minter of the offense. Both players are quality backups but they are simply not as good as the guys they replace. They just have to be good enough not as good.

Its not just worrying about larsons play. If another oline get hurt then what
January 10th, 2021 at 12:59 am
He has had a really good season, minimal penalties if any he was a 4th round pickup by Licht we need to get more depth in the draft we need a swing o-line player that is decent
January 10th, 2021 at 1:09 am
Huge loss…I hope its not that bad….
Thats why im all about DT Darius Stills and OG/OT Rashawn Slater as our 1st and 2nd picks….go watch those kids, especially Stills….motors forever!
January 10th, 2021 at 3:26 am
Time to Man up or get beat. GO BUCS!!!
January 10th, 2021 at 7:30 am
We need more depth on the Oline. I know we have many needs yearly however lets not forget the online next draft. Go Bucs!!
January 10th, 2021 at 9:15 am
Remember after Cappa’s 1st season when 90% of the JBFers were saying he was a bust?
January 10th, 2021 at 9:57 am
Larson was pretty much out of football for a reason.
If he’s the answer next week, rest assured the #1 DT the Bucs face will be right in his face, not a good proposition for winning a playoff game, not to mention Brady’s health.
Turnstile Ted is NOT the answer.
January 10th, 2021 at 10:05 am
The is a beast. A great guard. He will be missed
January 10th, 2021 at 10:45 am
this is actually when you need earl watford…
larsen looked a little lost, old and out of shape out there
January 10th, 2021 at 11:40 am
dam…
we need cappa back badly…
he is pretty underrated actually…
he and wirfs are fuggin’ great on the right side together…
yeah i said it….great
January 10th, 2021 at 10:49 pm
I saw Aaron Stinnie pancake Aaron Donald, meanwhile Larsen was out of football in a league desperate for linemen.
